Great Course!
Enjoyed playing this course, as it's a great value and very nice layout, design and course conditions. Challenging golf, but very enjoyable and my golf group had a blast playing Foxfire.
Will Play Again
Book Foxfire Grey as a second 18 on our annual Sandhills Area trip.
A very pleasant surprise, course was in good condition for the time of the year. Our foresome really enjoyed the layout.
Had lunch at the course prior to playing, our server was fantastic and the food was just okay.
Will play again.
Watch out for the water hazards....
Fun course. A few hidden water hazards that you need to be aware of but overall a very nice.
Both the greens and fairways were in great condition
Very convenient to Pinehurst only a 20 minute ride from where I live
Will be back to play the course again
Great, except
Once again my 3some was told we were booked with a single and once again I refused. It's not right for my party to be asked to play with a single just because I had only 3.
Great golf at a great deal
My son is home from college so when I play it costs me double. I have to look for the good deals, but I hate to play at inferior golf courses. Foxfire was fantastic. It was in great shape, pace of play was quick, greens were fantastic. It would have been perfect if my son wouldn't have kicked my butt all over the course. I guess you can't have it all.
REALLY GOOD COURSE AND HAD A GREAT TIME
We booked a foursome and first-time playing this course for all. it was in great shape, greens rolled nicely, very good value for the area. will play again.
so nice great value
I had just played Pinehurst National the same day and we went immediately to Foxfire for 18 more. This was by comparison better, less difficult but just as beautiful if not more dramatic with the big hills and tall pines. SO far my favorite NC course.
Good value
the course is in good shape The layout is gorgous
Hi hope retourn next year
This course is a very good test of shot making.
This course starts out with a par 5 that you must lay up if you can't carry a 280 drive over water. So you can take simple shots to a long green. From there, it's a well planned course that gradually increases the risk reward factor. You will highly enjoy your round. The staff is very helpful and will team you up if you ask. I would play this course again and again.
Fun course
I have played here several times, my last was about five years ago. The turf condition's were great, pretty weed free and the tee's and fairway's were overseeded. The only complaint that I had was the fact that the greens were aerated and there was no alert. What a surprise when you show up and have no clue. There were other people that I overheard talking about it also. Everyone knows that aerification is absolutely a must, but what a way to lose business. I finished my round at 5:15 PM and was ready to have a couple beers after but the clubhouse was all locked up. What a joke considering there was probably another 30 or more people coming off the course.
Well maintained course.
Staff, course conditions, and overall experience was very good.
Good course for the price
I have played this course a few times. The staff is great and the course is usually in pretty good shape for this time of year. Greens are in descent shape. I would say for the price it is worth it.
Not Great, But Worth Playing
I have played both Foxfire courses a number of times. In a nutshell the courses are not really outstanding. OTOH, they really are quality courses. Conditioning in my experience is always good. The two courses (Grey/Red Fox or East/West) are reasonably challenging but not so much as to be off-putting to the average hacker. I can't imagine anyone being badly disappointed in their experience here.
Greens are relatively large, with some interesting slopes but nothing extreme. Fringes are typically tight and you can put from well off the greens if you chose. Rough is typically relatively short. Greens are bent while fairways/rough are bermuda (winter overseed). Bunkers are mostly well maintained.
What is most noticeable to me is how similar the two courses are. It is hard to tell which course you are on as they both feel much the same. This is not really a bad thing, but noticeable if you play them both.
And while they are both courses that wind through housing developments, the houses rarely (if ever) impinge on the course. Pretty much everywhere there is ample room between the course and the beginning of private property, so this is not really a negative.
The 19th hole is a full service kind of place, but not fancy or extensive. But it gets the job done.
Worth playing, IMHO.
Great Course
Foxfire has always been one of my favorites.
The course conditions were great even though we had to delay our tee off after a cold snap the night before.
Have always loved the layout and the greens were in excellent shape.
A definite must play!
Foxfire
Course was in great shape for this time of year. Would recommend this course for any handicap.
Green Fairways, Greens are very nice
Played on a December day where it was 78, a little windy but super for December 6. Haven't played here in 15 years and I was surprised at the quaility of the course now. They have taken care of the course andt the clubhouse folks are super nice. Have some great deals on golfnow so go out and play it, you won"t be disappointed.
Enjoyable course
Played on a very cool day and very few people on the course. Course was in good shape and staff was great. Would definitely play again especially for hot deal price.
Outstanding greens, Challenging first 5 holes. Scenic
Excellent large greens, challenging early holes, scenic, inviting snack bar.
