Nice but overbooked
Nice course, I assume it was as crowded as it was because of the renovation. Regardless, too many groups stacked back to back so it was a 5 1/2 hour round on a Wednesday afternoon. Will play again after the crowds lessen. Need more water to drink on the course
Renovations huge success
The course renovation is impressive. Well worth the journey to play.......eventually. At this point the community excitement is understandably high and everyone is wanting to play. Course was significantly overloaded, which made for a painfully slow round (over 5 hours). Literally Waitd on every shot through the green with four groups on some holes. It should get better with time, but in mean time they need to limit number of groups allowed to go off. With that said, get in line. Job well done and a nice option for the locals!
Thank you for your review chas1! We appreciate your compliments on the renovation!
great mix of holes
First 9 is much more open as compared to second 9, although there is a tight hole sprinkled in the first 9 as well. Clubhouse is not yet complete, so indoor amenities are non-existent for now. Practice facility is pretty nice, putting green is medium size, pitching and sand bunker practice green as well as a sometimes grass tee driving range. It was grass the day I played, but the mats were behind us. Greens were very fast and hard, and with some undulations to add interest. Second hole puts the cars in the parking lot in jeopardy to the left to right over cook. Sand was great, fairly soft and small grain, but not powder, fairly easy to manage. Bermuda rough! I don't like bermuda rough, but who does, and it's all they can grow around here. All in all a very nice and fun course to play, I will visit again soon...
Hi John,
Thanks you for a great review fo the course. Sounds like you had a great time while you were here and we hope you visit soon!
Course in amazing shape
The course is in perfect condition after the renovations. The front 9 is open and fun, the back 9 didnt change much and is still challenging. Driving range and putting area were very nice. Greens were fast and smooth. The place was packed on a friday afternoon but pace of play was still good.
Thank you Chris! We appreciate your review and your returned support now that we've reopened!
Really nice
Really nice. So different. Feels very European. Excellent conditions.
Thank you for your review John! Glad to hear that you enjoyed your experience and we look forward to having you back again soon!
Unacceptable !!!!
The pace of play was horrible because the staff is not trained in golf course management. There's no starter or ranger to control the pace of play and the lady in the proshop hadn't a clue what to do beyond taking your money and handing you a cart key. The pro shop manager Luke is appalling with his lack of hospitality or customer service. We teed off at 3pm and waited at every tee box for a good 5 - 10min so our round was pushing 3 hours after 9 holes. It was REDICULOUS to say the least. The woman in the pro shop denied us a rain check for the back 9 even though it was their poor management that caused the congestion by allowing singles and even a 6some out on a busy afternoon. I called the manager the following day who was rude and obnoxious saying that I was a fool to think I could play a round of golf in 4 hours and that he would not be givinng me a rain check to return to his shabby course. The course just reopened so there is no gps or yardage markers yet and no amenities available. This course is a true fisappointment in every way!!!
Great first impression
The entire experience was great. We arrived 30 minutes’ prior and were greeted by several staff members. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The final clubhouse is still a work in progress and the portable the setup is small, but had everything I needed. They have a driving range and putting greens, that I could not take advantage of, but they looked amazing. The course was in great shape. From tee boxes to greens, the place played really well. The greens were fast, but fair. I can’t wait to go back for another round.
Excellent! We're glad you enjoyed your round and can't wait to have you back! Thank you for your review, Michael!
New Mooresville Course
The new Mooresville course is a well done renovation of the existing course. The links style front 9 routing is completely different now and much better than before. Playing conditions are excellent with perfect greens, very firm and fast which does slow down play somewhat because of their difficulty. Tall fescue in the rough does hide balls well so avoid when possible. The back 9 maintains essentially the same routing with a few changes (#10 is par 3 now, not 4, #13 par 5, not 4))but the fairways greens and bunkers are well done. Cart paths smooth and wide. The only complaints so far are lack of parking, no clubhouse yet, no bathroom facility on the course, limited water for drinking, long walk to drivinig range, etc. All of that will be fixed when the clubhouse opens late spring. Checking in at temporary trailer can be chaotic and public play is limited somewhat by numerous outings scheduled during the week. The course is certainly worth playing but expect limited service and slow rounds initially.
Thank you for your review Kevin! We appreciate your feedback on your experience, and are glad that the course layout and conditions were enjoyable!
Need of renovation
Several greens are in real bad shape. Good thing they are going to renovate the course next year. Fees to high for the quality of course.
Value
Front 9 traditional Donald Ross . Tee to green you see it all . The greens can be a challenge. The back is a longer more modern course with bigger greens . If you can walk away with a par on 18, you are playing some good golf.
Had a great time
We had a great time and we will be back. Back nine was challenging more so than the first. Friendly staff and course was in good condition. Good course for the money.
So so golf course,
I have two complaints, divots on the greens where not repaired and the cart paths are in terrible shape.
Just found out over the weekend this course is going to go through a complete overhaul, if the town board approves..
Fantastic Course
The course was in excellent shape. The staff was very friendly and professional. I enjoyed the challenges the course offers.
Great value
I find the Mooresville course to be a great value for the price. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They are starting some reconstruction that slowed us on a couple of holes but, didn't interfere much. The conditions are excellent, especially for a Muni that gets so much play.
Solid Course
Solid course with some challenging holes. Great for all levels. Greens were in good condition and played a little slow. Some of the fairways were over saturated. The course was green with minimal to no brown spots. A solid choice for the price and for a municipal course. Will definitely be going back
2 different 9s
As several has said before me...it's two different 9s. The front is nice and wide...can't really miss a fairway. The back is really tight and if you struggle from the tee box, it's a nightmare. There is a 215+ yard par 3 on the back...it's a bear.
If you live close, it would be a great course to play. Don't drive an hour like I did to play it however, you will be disappointed. For the price, you can find deals on Golfnow that runs approximately the same price with a step up in quality.
Mooresville
Not a bad course for the money. It was crowded that day, so the pace was a little slow.
It has two different golf course designers one being Peat Dye
In November the course is being redone such as the cart paths but it will be shut down for 10 months. It will really be ranked much higher. With the age of the course and needing repairs they make the best out of it.
What you would expect from a municipal course
The course was relatively simple but had some very fun holes and some that took some strategy. The price was kind of high for the condition and atmosphere of the course but not very expensive. The greens are fast and the starter had everyone moving right along. I like that they announce the next group to go off over the loudspeaker to keep everyone on time. Good course if you're looking for a cheep different course.
Solid Course
Good course, not too expensive. Had to wait a lot was the only downside. Waited on pretty much every shot on every hole for the group ahead to finish. They're tee times must be set up too close together. When we arrived at the first hole at our tee time, their were three groups ahead of us waiting to tee off, so that set us behind for the whole day.
Thank you for your review and feedback on the course Aboone1969! We've been very blessed to have a full tee sheet since our reopening, and look forward to your next trip to the course!
