About
Pipestone Golf Course is an Arthur Hills design that has been acclaimed as the best public course in the Dayton area. The name of the course comes from blue clay soil that is buried deep in the ground. The native Indians of the area would use it for making pottery and they would call it pipestone. Nestled amongst rolling hills, the golf course offers plenty of elevation changes. The undulating greens and fairways are kept in immaculate condition but they rarely offer a flat lie. The front nine is particularly challenging with several holes that are framed with tress and crisscross over the same creek. Pipestone Golf Course's second hole is one of the toughest with a water hazards and a fairway that is severely sloped right to left.

Nice but slow
A nice course with friendly golfers and staff. Course conditions were great and well maintained. Pace of play for the first 9 was two hours- three hours for the second 9.

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
FIRST, MAN AT COUNTER HAD TROUBLE WITH CHECKING US IN.
SECOND, WHEN I MADE THE TEE TIME,THE COST WAS 43 $.
THIRD, THE CARTS ARE OLD. NO GPS,BRACKES WORK OFF AND ON,SCORE CARDS TELL YOU NOTHING ABOUT THE LAYOUT OF THE HOLES.
FOURTH, WE ASKED ABOUT THE COUPON ON LINE THAT WE WERE UNABLE TO RECEIVE ON OUR PHONE,AND WERE TOTALLY IGNORED.

Slow Play
Tee time was at 9:50 - didn’t tee off until 10:25 - still took over 5 hours to play. Course was in nice shape.

Poor pace of play
Second time playing here and second time the pace of play was bad due to mismanagement of tee times. Way too many tee times booked which resulted in long lines forming on the first tee. Played early in the morning to try to avoid that and they were already behind considerably by 8 am. Great course but this needs to be fixed before I would go back

Mediocre course/great otherwise
Hadn’t played this course in several years and now remember why. Greens were harder than a brick and the layout is jacked up - not an enjoyable course. However, facilities and people working there are great.

Slow play on the weekend, but fun and challenging
I'm fairly new to golf, but it was pretty easy to tell that the course was a little overbooked. It seemed like they were doubling up on their tee times. I was playing as a single, and the 4 some in front of me didn't allow me to play through. I jumped in front of them after the front 9 when they went to get drinks. It's a beautiful course though. The staff was nice. I'd play it again during the week.

Hidden Gem
Fantastic course for only $36! Second time playing for me since early April, and I was not disappointed at all.
Wow, greens are in great shape and roll very fast. Lots of elevation changes that make holes deceivingly tough but they’re reachable. A couple of the par 5’s are true 3-shot approaches, which is very fun.
I highly recommend Pipestone and I will be back!

Slow
After 5 and a half hours we had to call it quits after the 11th hole, the staff booked 3 4 somes all for 1:30. Telling the staff what was happening hoping they would give us a rain check for 9 they just told us it is what it is.

Great shape
Great shape. Pace was really slow. Saw a ranger a few times, but he never stopped and said anything to the slow group. Otherwise, it was a fun round.

Waited 25 minutes just to check in after watching the wait staff make his coffee and chat it up with the bar worker. Sign in cart said to call grill or pro shop to have an order brought out "asap." Grill # "no longer in working service or had been changed.". Called the pro shop and after a failed attempt to transfer, same man who checked us in claimed they wouldn't be bring out water/Gatorade because no beverage cart service. 2 water sources on entire course in a 90 degree afternoon. Pace of play a little over 5 hours. Pin placements in ridiculous positions. Putted up hill on one occasion and only ran 2-3" past and literally rolled back down to my feet on a 10' putt.

Great Course !!
Great course that is challenging that gives you a lot to consider when playing. A lot of slope with rolling fairways, doglegs left & right, up and down with some bottle neck fairways and the greens were in great condition. Awesome layout with risk and reward holes ..

The green are not easy to reed and ondulated
We play in 4 hours what’s good for Sunday afternoon.
Some holes have a blind shot you need someone to look where your ball stop.
We play this cours 3 time and always a good experience.
