Nice layout
Generous fairways on some, shot placement needed on others. I liked this course, it fit my eye. Greens had just been aerated, but putted decent.
Going Down Hill
Over the last few years this course is slowly becoming a dog track. The greens are in horrible shape, with weeds growing on some of them. This used to be a great place to play. They are still charing good money, but it doesn't look like any of the money goes back into the course. What a shame.
The Divide Still Hasn't Figured It Out
The Divide Golf Club has a great layout and the potential to be a great golf course. Even though I experienced "winter" conditions at the course, it was in much worse shape than other courses I've played in the area. I've always had the impression that they only care about "making a buck" instead of investing their money into maintaining the course. It's really a shame since the course is situated in a beautiful neighborhood. I won't be going back until the owners figure out how to run a golf course. Very disappointed.
Great Value for weekend play
Always have a great time playing the Divide. Looks like they are making an effort to improve the course conditions by adding sand to the bunkers and aerating the fairways to alleviate muddy conditions. Other courses in the area should do the same especially Olde Sycamore. Hopefully this strategy will pay dividends. I would like them to consider overseeding the tee boxes with rye grass in the cooler months as they were quite bare and sandy (easy to lose your footing). Snack bar had a bunch of out of date snacks for sale which should never happen. All in all for the money spent, above average experience.
Great staff
Very friendly and helpful staff, greens were in terrible shape. Not very impressed with course condition, from what I had heard I expected better.
Appears to be true, the course is getting better!
I am new to the area, but I had heard from many people that this course fell on hard times over the last couple years, but recently changed management, and is trending upward.
I played nine holes here about six months ago (front nine), and thought the place was much better from an amenities standpoint (good practice facilities), compared to the course itself.
This time, I was paired with three members, and they raved about the new management. The course was in much better shape, and I am much more impressed now that I have played the entire 18 hole course. IMO, the best holes are in the middle stretch of the course.
Greens are still needing some work (apparently they had issues with kids riding dirt bikes on the course), but where they don't need that sort of repair, they roll and look great!!
A very solid track overall. You won't find it on a "five best to play" in Charlotte list yet, but its a challenging course (though greens) that from all accounts is getting in better and better condition.
Worth playing for sure!
Really great course!
Been playing the Divide for many years and it's as good as ever. Great job to the grounds keepers! Course is awesome. Thank you.
The Course Has Improved
The course has improved tremendously.
Wish For Better Conditions
I'm visiting from Colorado and used to live on Charlotte 8 years ago. Wanted to play Divide for ol' times sake and although I enjoyed being out w my buddy, the Divide left some disappointments. The course conditions were disappointing. Some parts of the fairways were bare and around the greens were thin and/or muddy. Tee boxes left some room for better manicure.
Staff was excellent and I enjoyed playing in the Charlotte area again. We are playing 3 rounds over 3 days, so looking fwd to more golf!
Only played the back nine
This is a lovely course. the 18th hole is a killer. We had a great deal from Golf Now, so I wouldn't complain. The front nine was closed, and i don't know if that was indicated until I received my receipt. If it was, I missed it. It was no problem though. We just played the back nine twice. We had the course to ourselves. It was muddy but nothing can be done about that.
Good course for a hot deal.
The was in alright condition. The green were slow and kinda eaten up with divot marks. The tee boxes are a work in progress but the reviews I had read before the round had said the same thing so I knew what I was getting in to there. Still had a god time.
Solid Course
It's a fair value with decent greens for the most part. A couple of greens have some issues around the edges of them. The tee boxes are a work in progress on 3 or so holes. The fairways are in good shape. I would say if you haven't played here in a couple of years it's worth the trip back. The course is in much better shape and you can see the grounds crew is working on the areas that aren't so good right now.
Great course
The greens were recovering from being punched, but rolled true just a little slow. We teed off at 7:02am and played in 3 1/2 hours. The staff is great and they are working hard to keep this course in good shape despite the lack of rain. The tee boxes are being redone and will be nice once complete.
Six hour round!!!!
I have played the Divide on several occasions. This will be the last. The previous time I played the course the greens were punched and this time they were punched. There was no notification of this on the website. They were playable that's not the reason I will not play this course again. The reason I will not play this course is pace of play. I paid for 18 but only played 9. It took me 3 hours to play nine holes. There was no marshall on the course to speed up play and the course staff in the pro shop weren't the friendliest group. Great course layout so this is a shame. I will not play this course again.
Not in good shape....
I have played the course numerous times. I like the layout and previously have found the course to be in decent condition. Unfortunately, the course the day that I played was in terrible condition. It appears that the greens had been recently aerated but even that doesn't account for how bad some of the greens were. Additionally, the tee boxes were in extremely bad condition. There were actually some temporary tee boxes set up to account for the poor conditions of the tee boxes.
Punched Greens
Greens were punched. Probably the reason for the cheap Saturday morning rate. Some greens worse than others with sand still covering them. Group in front was real slow, always behind pace of play, told by Ranger on 1 green and picked it up but slowed again on the back nine. Course has been in better shape......
Getting Good Again.
The Staff has changed recently and they are a lot better than years past.
The course is getting updated. The tee boxes were moved. Looks like they are getting ready to redo them.
Greens were in good shape and bunkers cleaned out.
After giving this course an optimistic review a couple months ago, I must say that the current condition of the course (I played it again recently) is concerning. Multiple greens in very bad shape, tee boxes are a mess, and a lot of trouble spots in the fairway.
Really hoping the management makes needed improvements, they get the rain they need, etc. I am going to go back after some rain and warm weather, and will give them the benefit of the doubt that winter is/was simply the issue, but the course is not in good shape right now.
