Timberlake Country Club in Chapin sits on the shores of Lake Murray, just outside of Columbia in the Midlands of South Carolina. The classic design is reminiscent of traditional Scottish links courses, featuring a combination of water and pot bunkers as well as large grassy swales. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills, which provide plenty of contours and elevation changes. From the elevated tees, golfers will have a dramatic view of the rugged landscape. The golf course is mostly open though there are a few stands of mature trees that can be troublesome if you're not careful. The cavernous bunkers and carefully molded mounding present formidable challenges that will test even the best golfers. In addition to the golf course, Timberlake also offers a full driving range and practice green as well as tennis courts and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

First timer that was not disappointed!

Friendly staff, challenging but fair good looking course, I have been hesitating to play here because of some reviews but I was pleasantly surprised! Greens are good and rolling, maybe one or two greens on the course need a little TLC but overall a very pleasant place to play!

Course in ok condition

Some changes since I played here last year. The practice area is one, the cart pick up is another, staff has changed as well as cost of practice balls. The chipping area is nicer, the synthetic grass mats was moved back and made into a row with larger grass area. The carts are no longer at the drop off area. They are at the bottom of the hill at the pro shop where it is easier for staff to assign cart # to your group. First staff I in countered was at the cart storage was upbeat, offered a ride down to the pro shop to check in and get cart. The guy at check in was not as upbeat and aloof. Seems as he could be a jerk but was not to me. The range balls are as expensive as I have seen, $7 for a small which they were not my last visit. Course was in ok shape fairways are fast as are the greens. I didn’t pay close attention to all bunkers but the one I found myself in had been raked and had enough sand in it to be played from. Some greens had dead spots around the edges and some show signs of replacement areas. Great temperature, great day to play a round of golf.

Still one of the best in Columbia area

5 Star course layout and clubhouse. Suffering a tad from drought and so much play but still a true gem.

Horrible Greens

The greens are in horrible shape.
Tee boxes need work as much as the bunkers.

Wouldn’t Recommend.

Wouldn’t recommend this course. Guy in Pro Shop didn’t even give key to cart after paying. Went back in and he said he did. Explained that I didn’t and he had attitude. Course has sand everywhere on fairways and the greens are in bad shape. Tee times were way too close. Had 4 different guys teeing off in front of us on Hole 1. Took 5 hours to play 18 holes. Don’t play here.

Poor course conditions

Bumpy burnt out greens, grassless t boxes and bare burnt out fairways. Course is too expensive and poorly maintained.

Same old story

Well, here's another course in Columbia SC that is in terrible condition. It's amazing that the beautiful neighborhood around the golf course can grow grass, but not the actual golf course!

Really Nice Track

Love the layout. Greens were superb. Fairways a bit soggy from really heavy rains the night before.

Pace of play could have been better, but members would not let faster groups through. Course needs more yardage markers, and hole diagrams would be nice. A few holes fooled me off the tee.

Overall, it's a nice course and well worth what I pad.
