Witch Golf Club
About
The Witch golf course is situated between Conway and Myrtle Beach, S.C. sprawling across more than 500 secluded acres that are far removed from residential and commercial development. The peaceful setting is abundant with wildlife including bald eagles and deer. You may even see an alligator during your round. The Dan Maples design has a challenging but fun routing that is known for the tricky green complexes. There is plenty of variety throughout with a front nine that plays through marshland and a back nine that is routed across rolling hills. There are a few forced carries and some strategically placed bunkers but you won't find much water on the golf course. The fairways range from wide to narrow, and the well manicured, undulating greens roll fast and true. The Witch is a popular round on the Myrtle Beach golf circuit.

Buddies Trip Winner
Played The Witch Golf Links on a buddies trip, and boy where we pleasantly surprised. The course is really well maintained, great value, and just a ton of fun to play. Plenty of challenge for the good players in our group, some good forced carries and green complexes. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the Myrtle area, and gladly play again.
Myrtle Beach Favorite
I really loved the distinct feel of the front (marsh land) and back (rolling hills) nines. Conditions were outstanding, the staff super friendly and overall experience a real treat. Looking forward to playing again on my next trip.
Must-play!
Beautiful, tranquil course with well-kept greens. Friendly customer service. Will definitely be coming back on our next trip to Myrtle!
Poor conditions
I have played this course many times over the past 20 years, however this time the "t boxes" and greens were in terrible shape. Some of the greens on the front 9 were just mud with patches of grass in it. This course has a great layout but paying $68 bucks for an afternoon round with poor conditions made this an expensive round. The course threw in a "sandwich and a beer" but we came to play golf, not eat.
Great Track in Myrtle Beach
Took a trip to Myrtle Beach last fall and was very surprised by how fun this track was. Played from the middle tees it isn't overly long, but the conditioning was spectacular and the layout was fun and different enough to make it a stand out in an area packed with nice venues. Highly recommend checking this one out.
The Witch is the best in Myrtle Beach!
Tough to beat The Witch Golf Course. The value, scenery, challenge of the layout, splendid course conditions, friendly staff. We go every year for our annual Myrtle Beach trip. The Witch is a must play!
Ok layout, bad conditions
I like the layout of the course but it was in poor condition. The greens were patchy and some parts of the green were completely dried out and dead. The fairways were alright but patchy too. The tee boxes were dried out and uneven. The cart pathes were dispicable and crumbled. The clubhouse was very worn out and old, and so were the bathrooms. I did like the layout of the course and the location but the conditions were so bad I would not return.
Challenging Layout
Having never played the course,we decided to play the middle tees and I am glad we did. The course is tight and the greens are tricky. Though spotty, the greens were very fast and you never seemed to have a straight putt. Will play it again.
Not again
I've played the Witch a few times now, on golf packages in MB. But no more. The course is just not fun to play. The design is average, but course conditions are not good, and several items (like tee information, etc) are weak. The greens were spotty and the 'wow' factor was just missing. There are so many good courses in MB, play others. The Wizard and ManOWar are much better.
We won!
Our group played this course on the final day of our week-long stay. Cart path only made for a long day. The cart path restriction was odd since it had not rained all week. The course did not seem wet either. Lay out is good with some wide fairways and some more narrow. Greens are small on most holes. Water not really an issue as it doesn't come into play if you position your shots. Just a few forced carries. Bunkers were decent. One of the better courses we played during the week. Besides, we won the scramble with a match of cards. Enjoyed the course and would play it again.
Course is fine, attitude of personnel took away from experience
With so many courses in Myrtle Beach I was surprised with the attitude of personnel. Played Blackmoor & Grande Dunes and their staff bent over backwards to make my round enjoyable. As a 3 handicap, the course itself was fun to play, and challenging, but the experience itself left something to be desired.
perfect day for 18 holes
The Witches Link golf course is a very beautiful layed out 18 holes that challenges even the most experienced golfer. This was my 4 th time playing this course and can't wait to try it again.
Great layout, beautiful swamp-like course with lots of ponds and a few alligators.
The big alligators stayed in the water thankfully. The little ones would come up out of the water near the tees, but did not bother us at all. A lot of rain in July made for a very wet course. Cart paths only for our round was the primary reason it took >5 hours to finish. It is a nice, challenging layout.
Great Course
Great golf course has allot of tough holes that keep you on you A game the whole time.
Horrible greens
The greens had been punched a week earlier and they were awful. Had no water coolers after the 2nd hole and didn't see any beverage person after the 4th hole, made for a tough day with the myrtle beach humidity.
Greens were horrible
The course itself is rather nice. Some really nice golf holes. Layout I thought was great but their lack of greens really soured my opinion for the course as a whole. 1-3 strokes are played on every green and these were some of the worst I have ever seen. I am not a low handicapper (about a 12) but I consider myself a decent putter. ALL of the greens were roughly more than 50% lost. About 1/2 dirt, 1/2 green "stuff". No grain, nothing really to cut. A real disappointment as I really do like the layout.
My son and I played on June 9th, 2013 and you would think the greens would be in really great shape considering the summer heat had not come yet. When we played, it was low to mid 80's and they have had no 90 degree days yet. They did have about 2-3 inches of rain the Friday before but that would not have done that much damage to the greens in such a short amount of time. The fairways were some of the best I have seen. Wish they would take as much time and care with the greens.
Side note: the practice tee was not setup very well. We had a side hill stance throughout the entire practice area. Not much thought into that part of it either.
I am glad we did not have to pay the full price of about $60/player.
The Witch was nothing special...
This was my first time ever in Myrtle Beach. On first day we played Black Moor. Beautiful course, well maintained, some very challenging holes. I had a spectacular time there. I wanted to play a second course on day number 2 and after scouring through literally hundreds of courses, we chose this one. The cost for the round was $86...(first time i ever got charged tax on a round) and while waiting for out tee time we decided to hit a "bag" of balls. I think for $5 we got about 20 balls. Driving range area was sorta small. After we finished that we headed to the starter....there were two groups in front of us...we were a twosome, there was a 3-some, and a "scramble" of 8 or 10 guys. I think at most courses, the starter would let the 2-some go first instead of having them wait behind these two groups, but they didn't. Long story short....we had to wait literally 10-15 minutes to tee off on every hole. The 4-some behind us was also right up our tail-pipes as well. The little sliderule only goes up to 5hrs....out round too SIX HOURS AND TWELVE MINUTES!!! It was NOT fun! During the day there were NO rangers driving around moving things along, we only saw the drink cart 1 time on the 4th hole...that was it...i was kinda disappointed overall with the course and the way things were managed. I would not go back there.
This course has great views?
As a beginner this course was fun! There were some challenging holes more appropriate for the more experienced golfer, but fun and beautiful none the less!
Witch review
Course badly needed haircut. Grass long on tees, fairways and rough. Greens generally spotty but OK to putt. Nice layout.
