2nd, par-4, 398. Walter Travis’ penchant for high quality bunkering and mounding is clearly evident here. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/30/2022

5th, par-4, 336. Short but lethal, this downhill, two-shot hole nonetheless offers a beautiful Green Mountain backdrop. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/30/2022

8, par-4, 398. One of the deeply embedded greenside bunkers may prove hazardous to your score after an errant approach shot. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/30/2022

12th, par-4, 361 (center of photo). At twelve, a drive and pitch hole, you’ll want to miss all of the eleven bunkers. The scenery, though, is not to be ignored. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/30/2022

13th, par-4, 423. The toughest and maybe best hole at Equinox, this brutal “Volcano” hole will test you fully from tee to cup. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/30/2022

We always love to play this course
We greatly enjoyed ourselves as always at Equinox. I thought I should note that 2 or 3 greens had some major problems (perhaps damage from the harsh winter). But at the retail price of this course in Summer I think they need to fix the greens with severe issues.
Outstanding views
Great facility greens in very poor condition rest of course excellent friendly staff mountain views on every hole
Golf Club at Equinox
Greens not in very good shape, bunkers full of rocks and gravel, not sand. Great views, fun holes. 3.5/5 stars
Wonderful course!
Great round! Too bad it was not a great day, drizzled through out round. Only negative is the greens were not in the best shape..but that was because of the tough N.E. winter weather..I expect they will improve this summer.
Spring golf
Not bad for early season golfing. Greens were fast but need water and sun.....got stuck behind embers who were slow and never offered us the option to play through....horrible etiquette on a course with such high membership fees. You would think the rich know better. Other than that tee boxes and greens need love in a big way....but it's early season and expected.
Late Season Course Review
Disclaimer!: I played late in the year, so it was probably pretty close to closing for the season. I'm definitely taking that into consideration, so I don't feel like I had unrealistic expectations.
THE GOOD
Fantastic views of the surrounding area, especially on Hole 14 which is at the highest point on the course. Take a camera! Many of the holes on the Back 9 have lots of elevation changes.
For late in the season, the course was in pretty good condition. The greens weren't slick, but they held good lines, so I couldn't complain at all.
The fairways were also in good condition but had a high number of unfilled divots. Once again, understandable if the course is close to closing for the season.
THE BAD
The GoflNow rates were $105 or $65 for a Hot Deal. The Hot Deal price would be at the upper end of what I'd want to pay for the quality of the course. It's probably closer to fall/shoulder season prices when the course is in nicer shape.
There weren't any rakes for the bunkers, so a few times, I had to use my foot to do my best raking with my shoe!
THE UGLY
The biggest black eye to this place is that there's NO DRIVING RANGE! That makes it really tough to hit the opening teeshot on Hole 1 (fortunately, it's a short Par 4 where you can hit iron/hybrid off the tee).
The cartpaths were mostly gravel and had a lot of washouts. I would expect a higher standard from a Troon/resort course.
The carts were gasoline and the governer set to 2mph (I might be able to push my clicgear cart faster!).
A Must Play
This Troon course in Southwest Vermont was a perfect birthday gift.
In true Vermont fashion, this course flows with the land. Every hole gives you majestic views of the mountains surrounding Manchester Village.
The staff was helpful & professional.
The course. The reasons you go to this course are the community, the staff, the views. The reasons you come back; well I'll give you 18 of them. From start to finish, she'll be nice. Then she won't. Fantastic challenge of a course built into and with the land. Some holes from Tee to Flag its 3/4 shots then on to the next. Next thing you know its a blind tee shot or a 2nd shot on a 5 that crosses a road, uphill.
I'll be back. Hope to see ya there.
Love the Vermont courses, but Equinox is near the top of our list!
On a gorgeous November afternoon, we had the course to ourselves. The entire track was nearly leaf-free, the course was in great shape, except for a few of the bunkers, and the layout offers all the challenge you need and then some.
Greens were maintained and rolled true.
The course played well, especially for early November. Pace of play was good even after a huge rain storm the day before.
A well-groomed course in a beautiful setting.
We played this course in late October and found tee boxes, greens and fairways to be in excellent condition. The natural setting, tucked into the mountains with many splendid views, made the experience totally enjoyable.
Excellent course
Played here once a decade ago and have wanted to go back, and couldn't resist a great deal from GolfNow. Definitely worth the 1:45 drive.
Greens were amazing, smooth as could be and as fast as any I've ever played. Both a pleasure and a challenge. Only downside at all was the bunkers, of which there are many, as they need more sand (and better maintenance in general). But I'm already thinking about when I might be able to go back again.
Course was only about one third full. Two of us got around in about 3.5 hours.
And the staff, all three that I talked to, couldn't have been nicer. Especially the guy I chatted with afterwards about the best way to play a couple of the harder holes (13 and 18).
Georgeous scenery, pristine condition and wonderful staff.Highly recommended.
The foliage was at it's peak and produced the perfect background for this absolutely pristine course. I took several pictures to remember this fabulous day of golf in Vt..
Nice scenery.
Nice track, but many of the bunkers were in need of attention. Was in much better condition last year. Would play there again for the right price.
Excellent course, great greens but challenging curvature!
This is a great course - fair but no "push over". In great condition with marvelous views. Excellent greens but some what hard to decipher the curves. High handicap players will find it challenging but not impossible or unfair.
Fall golf at it's absolute best !
Very nice course in an absolutely perfect location for fall foliage. Took as many pictures as I did golf shots as the course this time of year looks like those golf calendars you can buy. The course is challenging enough without making you smash clubs or give up the game. A very solid course, maintained to the nth degree. A pleasure to play !
Great course. Great deal with Golfnow.com
Played this course in late September. Fall colors and moutain views were awesome. Played the couse twice over the weekend. First day we took a cart the second day we walked which was truly enjoyable. This is a great Vermont golf course and Golfnow.com got us a great deal!
Nice Layout and great views
Located in Manchester, VT, The Golf Club at Equinox is the perfect Fall golf destination. The staff is friendly and the course layout is excellent. The views of the surrounding mountains with the leaves turning color were outstanding.
awesome
tee boxes, fairways and greens all in excellent shape
staff friendly and courteous. great time.
Lighting fast greens!
The course was in great condition. The bunkers lacked good sand. The greens were extremely fast and were very undulating making for some quick, tricky putts. All in all a fun resort course in a beautiful setting.
A challenging course for those playing for the first time.
An interesting morning. Would like to play again to better appreciate the course and get a better score.
