The effort counts
We played as a twosome behind a very slow foursome on the first nine (Green Course), and the starter put us on the next nine he felt would be a better pace (Gold Course), and he was right. The effort to help us play a better pace is much appreciated.
The course is in good shape from tee to green, and having a starter available to disperse golfers across the 3 nines over Labor Day Weekend was nice to see. That's where the title of my review comes from, and if more courses had starters to assist groups with some pace of play suggestions, it would help to move things along. I play as a twosome with my wife often, and expect to take our time behind a foursome so we don't push them, but when someone waits for a group to arrive at a green on a par 5 before hitting their tee shot, they don't understand the game, and need some help.
The course I play routinely hands out a small card outlining how to play "Ready Golf", and it helps.
Fairways muddy
Greens are perfect.....muddy holes in middle of fairway
Northwest holf
The whole coarse is in great condition considering how hot it's been. The fairways greens and tees are in great shape. And the coarse heavily trees with evergreens
Fair Condition - Nice layout
Dry weather has impacted course condition. Course play good until groups inserted ahead of us at the turn on the back nine.
usual gem
The 27 holes allows Lipoma to spread everyone out. I never feel like I'm waiting too long or someone is rushing me. My wife and I can play alone as a twosome. We got a great deal and it's always worth the drive.
Golf with my son.
A fun day with my son. Course is challenging, and in good condition. Pace of play was not too slow, considering there was a tournament on part of the course.
Well-Maintained and Beautiful Course!
My recently-retired golf buddy just became a volunteer marshal at Lipoma, so I joined him on one of his free rounds of golf. I'd only played Lipoma once before, several years ago, and that hadn't gone well. This time was vastly different, thanks to my improved game, so I could appreciate both the beauty and the overall quality of this privately-owned public course. Fairways and greens were in good condition (except for some reason, golfers there appear to ignore the art of repairing their ballmarks on the greens!). We played the Green and Gold tracks. The Green 9 was pretty challenging; Gold was much easier. I liked the layout, which rewarded good shot placement, yet didn't overly-penalize small mistakes. Since I managed to avoid every bunker (unusual event!), I can't comment on their qualities. Greens were soft but faster than I expected.
All in all, Lipoma Firs is a good value, and I will be returning often this summer!
GREAT VALUE
A must play if you live in the area. Quick cheap and always available
Nice course
Course was in great shape. Prefect weather made for an enjoyable round. Exactly what I would expect for the money. Will play again.
Course was a little rough
Lots of play, and lots of beginners, Had to change course and skip to keep playing moving. Fairways and greens arent quite where they should be, but I believe that will improve as the weather continues. Employees were great. Overall. Good experience
Get in the Hole
I had a good and very relaxed day of golf. Very friendly staff and course was in great shape. It made for a fun day of golf. Of course because of the great deal from golf now it made it even better.
Better than Expected
I must have seen a crummy out of focus photo of this course somewhere and thought the course would be a joke. The joke was on me. First the gentleman checking me in (name began with B -- Brent) was very nice and even started up a conversation about his hickory shafted clubs and the hickory shaft group he plays with. Then onto the the driving range. Meh. Could be a little better maintained. But decent enough to warm up. Then onto Hal at the starter booth who met me with a smile and a handshake. So I was under the impression that they only kept 18 of 27 holes open. Which would ale sense to keep the entire outfit in better shape. Nope. Hal asked that I was a single and sent me off on a track that would let me fly through my round. Finished in 3 hrs. The course itself was in much better than I expected condition. Fairways were good, greens were great. Tee boxes a little abused but still ok. I would have given 5 * across the board but the last aero fixation has not 100% healed yet. They could likely go over again with some slight spot sanding to fill in the few holes left on the greens. No putts were affected just something I noticed. There was also someone out in ranger cart with seeded sand filling in divots in the approach areas on one of the holes and I then noticed that he must have been busy this week as most of the approach areas on fairways seemed to have been recently filled. What a thought by the course super. Overall fair yet challenging course. I was sent down the blue/gold tracks. Look forward to my next trip on the 3rd 9 holes to experience them. Nice job Lipoma Firs team!
Green were nice.
Nobody was out there and I got a hot deal for 13 bucks with cart...
Best bang for your buck
It's a challenging course with great fairways. Has beautiful scenery and nice greens. And to top that it has great prices.
good time
we had a great time golfing the only issue was when we went for food they seem to be out of everything
Satisfaction
Course was in better shape than expected. Good roll in fairways. Greens pretty decent. It has been 5 years since I had last been, will def get out again sooner. Good round for value. Satisfied golfer
Enjoyed our first time at Lipoma Firs
My husband and I were paired up with a couple of singles since the course was very busy when we arrived for our tee time. It did make for a longer game but we enjoyed our partners. Parts of the gold course were muddy but once they dry out should be fine. Other than that, the course was in good condition and was just challenging enough for us since we aren't great golfers. The fabulous view of Mt. Rainier makes this a special course.
good spring round
This was a good course for a spring round. Even though our weather has been a bit wet, the fairways were in good shape, the greens were surprisingly fast, and for a late Sunday morning round, the speed of play was very good.
Played Forest Golf
The course is a great value, however if you don't play fairway golf you are in for a long day. The trees are dense and rocks a plenty.
Greens were in great shape and rolled well.
