Good for less than $35
Paid $30 w/cart. Good for the money but wouldn't pay more than $35. Rough is too long, hides balls. Lost many balls just off the fairway. Greens average. Course wet but had rained a lot recently so not their fault.
great track
This track is really interesting. Not the best condition (especially tee areas) but we really like this course
nice layout
Tee areas were pretty poor but we enjoyed our round. . one of our favs in the area
Best Value in Orlando
Having read a bunch of very negative reviews on GN about Oaks National I was expecting the place to be in SUPER ROUGH shape. Had to see for myself as the $35 green fee was compelling. I was pleasantly surprised. Greeting in the pro shop was first rate, I explained it was my 1st time, got a great run down on what to watch out for. The course is in at least decent shape. A couple of the tee boxes were definitely rough but that's what a tee is for ... Likewise a few greens were spotted but the pins were located well clear of any patches. Plenty of trouble in play, lots of water holes, some very tight Driver lines off par 4/5 holes. GN needs to establish a "value for money" index as a measure of slope points per green fee dollar - Oaks National wins that metric. Strongly endorse this course !!
Much improved
Haven't played this course over the past several years because conditions had significantly deteriorated. Read recent reviews that indicated improvement so thought for the price we'd take a chance. We were pleasantly surprised that the course was in decent shape. Played in 3.5 hours. It still needs work, but the greens were fine and given the price, as long as you temper your expectations you should enjoy your outing.
First time playing this course, and although I am not a frequent player, the course has a few difficult holes, the pace of play this day was pretty good, finished under 4 hours. The tee offs were in good conditions and the greens nice and soft. I will be returning not only because of its location but the value you get for the price!!
good value
The course is a bit shabby but we liked it. some interesting holes
Good day for golf
Oaks National is somewhere to play when you don’t want to be held up by endless foursomes on the weekend. The price was perfect, $35 for 8:45 AM time on a Saturday. The course is in good shape. The greens look great and roll true/well. They are not super fast but at the same time not slow. They cut the rough but it is still easy enough to lose your ball just off the fairway. I see they moved multiple tee boxes around to allow the grass to grow back in high trafficked boxes. The winter weather has really helped this course as fairways were nicely grown in and mowed. I will always love this course and layout. If you don’t need perfect conditioning and are looking for a challenge, you need to play here.
This is an honest review from someone who has played here before and will play again in the future.
PS they have newer yamaha gas carts which is a plus.
In playable condition
The course is a budget course. The greens are in good shape, fairways are playable, tee blocks are decent a couple are rough. The rough is what it is, there are different types of grass in the rough some places the ball sits down and hard to fine. I keep finding them wish you would lose a better quality ball. LOL
The weather not helping in keeping up with some of the grass cutting.
If looking for a perfect golf course go pay $70 - $90 if looking to get out and play a round of golf the Oaks will do. I would rather play 3 rounds as to 1.
Bring plenty of golf balls
The layout is challenging. The greens are slow and flat. Water holes and plenty of dog legs. Now the bad part. If you can’t keep your ball in the fairways. You are done. The ruff swallows your golf ball. The grass isn’t long. But the ball just sinks into the ruff and you can’t find it I guess they can’t water the course. Everywhere is burnt grass especially the tee areas. So bring a full box of balls.
