North Golf Course at Sun City
About
Located just south of Grand Avenue in Sun City, Sun City North Golf Course's trademarks are the doglegs and large trees that are present throughout the course. It has many other challenges to offer including plush, elevated greens and numerous sand bunkers. Placid ponds also create water hazards that come into play on two holes. The well-maintained course is relatively flat with plenty of shade, making it enjoyable to walk. The Sun City North Golf Course facility has several amenities including a putting green and chipping area. There is also a fully stocked pro shop and full service grill and deli.

No carts
I had a 930 teatime for three people. When we got there to check in they told us there are already no carts available. They said they were already sold out for the day and there would be no cards available until noon. They only have 14 carts for service at this course
Conditions going down
Check in was very slow. One person with 10+ in line. Like South course fairways are thin. Looked sprayed. Should be in great shape but bare lies. Greens are very good still. Pace was ok.
Pace of play!
Slow, slow, slow. Ar several Par 3's there were 4 groups waiting. We only played 13 holes.
Greens
Course was in decent shape. Had kids behind us hit into us once. Greens seemed a bit off. Some were very fast and others less so. Had to guess which was which. Ball did not seem to stay on line while putting.
Walkable
A good old fashioned walkable golf course.
Pace of play is usually 4 hours or less.
Course is firm so look for a lot of roll out off the tee.
Greens are in great condition. They receive the ball nicely with a short iron and roll true with the putter
Slow. Groups of 5
Pace was slow. After the first couple of holes we got backed up with 3 groups on the tee. No Rangers to keep pace. We moved at a crawl after that. This course and all Sun City courses try to book for groups of 5 which just slows down play for everyone else. If you are booking on golf now for a tee time be aware that any time you see an opening that is not 1-4, you are filling in for a 5 some. Listings for 1,2 and 3 are fill out for 5 people for the round. Subtract one person and that is what is really available for a four-some.
Cold and windy
Since it was cold and windy we had a fairly open course for our foursome as hardly anyone else was as crazy as us. We played in under 4 hours. Just a little over 3 and a half, actually. We were walking and playing in harsh weather conditions so there is no excuse for slow play here. It had rained the night before so it was a little damp in areas, but seemed to have drained nicely as there was no standing water. The wind was brutal and cold, but we played through. The greens putted fairly well, but some of the pin placements were just evil. They were on slopes or on the edge of a break. I could just hear the greenskeeper cackling and tenting his fingers like Mr. Burns in a Simpson Halloween episode. Okay. Maybe that last part was the cold effecting my brain. We had fun even in the less than ideal weather conditions. We will be back.
