Sun City Lakes Golf Club - West Course
About
The 18-hole West Course at Sun City Lakes Golf Club is a private course with a traditional layout. The course is quite open and features a few interesting challenges. It is relatively flat, making it nice to walk although carts are available. More advanced players that mostly hit straight balls may not find the course challenging enough, but it is quite enjoyable for beginners and intermediate players. Notable holes on the course are the 3rd, 9th, and 18th since they can be played a few different ways. The Lakes West Golf Course facility, in addition to the course, has practice facilities including a putting green, chipping area, and driving range.

Great Course but not overseeded
Love this course and I play it often. This was the first time I have played it this winter and I was disappointed that Sun City did not overseed the fairways. The green paint they used on the dormant grass fairways discolored my golf balls. I will not play here again till the late spring when the Bermuda grass comes back.
Thumbs Up
I was expecting far less and was surprised that it was an actual golf course in decent condition. The practice area looked adequate, although I did not take time to hit practice balls. The putting green was also adequate for getting a few practice putts to fall. The fairways were suitably grown in and lush from tee to green. The greens were also without any bald spots or burned out areas. The course is relatively flat, though there are some elevated greens. Though the greens on the front nine are relatively straightforward, those on the back nine have some character to them. I did not get to finish playing the 18th as there is a course rule requiring carts to be in by dusk. There were also above ground water pipes (12 inch lines)set up to temporarily move water from the pumping station on hole 3. If your shots are in the fairway, then they are not an issue. I will play the course again.

everything is good sand traps very good pace a little slow
Power cart situation is terrible..
The course and people are great but the number of carts they have available for rental is abysmal. We had a12:30 tee time and cold not get out until 1:20 because there were no carts available. Now keep in mind this is a 36 hole complex (championship and executive courses) and was the only facility in the Sun City Rec system that is open now because all the other corses that they own are being overseeded so all the carts they have at those facilities are sitting parked in cart barns making no $$$ for them whatsoever. Mismanagement or poor planning for sure at the administrative level….
Becoming my favorite course
I play this course at least once a month. The last two times I had my two lowest scoring rounds on this course. With all the rain we has this summer, the course is lush with great fairways and even some rough. Greens are consistent speed-wise. With few people playing in the afternoon these days, I finish the round in less then 3 hours.
Worth the price…..Pro shop staff super friendly
Not going to find a more friendlier pro shop…..Paul and Jim are priceless……Great guys
Course is good GolfNow not so much
Enjoyed the golf course but not very happy with golf now not the good deal it use to be doesn’t save me anything now with the extra fees they charge was goog run but will not be renewing my membership
Course in great condition and greens were nice. Had to walk 18 holes in the heat because this course only had limited carts and they were reserved for members. Won’t play here again because of that.
Always a Solid Track
I play here three or four times a year and it’s always great. Staff is always super friendly and welcoming. We got a hot deal for our threesome so price was great and we played in the middle of the day so not many others were out. Construction is still going on between holes 1 and 2 but other than that the course is in great condition. Would always recommend
