Dropped the ball BIG TIME this outing.
Our threesome booked a 2:10 tee time. Being a Sunday, the course was slammed, but still they let 3 twosomes tee off right in front of us: rather than make them play in foursomes. Three holes in, there was a six -some playing in front of us. We called the pro shop and were told they were hosting a tournament and since only one person was working, they didn't have a marshall to keep play moving. Who allows six-somes AND schedules a tournament with only one person working? The response from staff: keep playing or you can get your money back. Really?
Nice course
Plays long and lots of thick grass so keep it straight.
Work Still to Do
One of my favorite tracks in KC. The course needs some work. Some bunkers need to be rebuilt, green have some problems expecially 1 and 2. Not sure what they are doing with the area between the club house and the course where they have cut down all the trees. Course still plays fine just needs a little TLC. Course needs GPS and I think they are getting it but without the course is not marked very well.
decent day
I love this course and went out to play for my birthday with 2 of my buddies. I was a little surprised that we got stuck behind a 5-some, didn't know that was allowed, probably wouldnt have sowed us up too badly expcet there was only 3 of us. Also, they only had 1 guy working both the front counter and the kitchen, which made for a 15 minute wait at the turn. Overall, a nice facility and greeat course layout, but pace of play was a bit slow.
A course that will challenge all skill levels
It has many sand traps, fairway bunkers and undulating greens. You'll do fine if you just hit it straight.
Good Luck and enjoy your round.
A couple of negatives: there's no beverage cart nor marshals to maintain the speed of play. They have GPS, but some of them don't work well.
Good course for December
Fairways excellent condition for middle of December, greens in even better shape. Forward tees for this time of year too far forward for my taste, and back tees was a stretch for my game. but overall, great course
Love this course
Even this late in the season, the course was in great shape. Offers challenging and exciting holes. Amazing course. Look forward to playing it again and again.
good course, bad employee
So we had a 7:45 tee time in October, so we were second off. When we showed up at 7:15, had to wait for someone to show up and open the gates. The people before us had a cool 10 minutes to get their clubs, pay and warm up. Our cart's GPS wasn't working, so I called the clubhouse to get a new one brought out. Adam told me he was the only one working so he could not bring it out. #6 gets close to the clubhouse so we ran it by and there was someone else there. Appraently, Adam didn't bother to send him out. So the new guy takes our cart and off he goes...with the key. There are no keys in the carts left so I go tell Adam. He says just use the same key. When I told him the other guy took our cart with the key, you should have seen the look he gave me. I guess I am not only a moron but a pain in the neck too. So, he had to take like 5 enormous steps to retrieve another key and hand it to me. He made sure both I and my partner (still in the cat) knew this had greatly inconvienenced him. But course was great outside noone fixing their ball marks.
Prairie Highland 9-28-14
Very much enjoyed the course, wonderful conditions. Somewhat challenging but fair. Good value.
Slow Play
I have played this course previously and they are not serious about monitoring pace of play. But now, they are allowing 5-somes. Decided to quit midway thru the back 9 so I wouldn't have to play a 6 hour round. This is not a muni course which is normally where this is allowed. And no marshals to monitor pace of play. No Beverage cart. The water stations were empty. Maybe the people running the course were just having a bad day. I'll wait a while before I go back and hope next time they can get it right.
Great Day at Prairie Highlands
Exceeded my expectations. Other than overnight rain that flooded the bunkers, course was in very good shape.
Highly recommend and will definitely play again.
Fun course
Enjoyed my round, really liked the gps on the carts and the course is well maintained. Fun challenging course, will defiantly try to return.
The course is well maintained
This course has an intersting layout with many of the holes offering fun, risk/reward shot decisions to make. The tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. A few port-a-johns would be appreciated. My only real criticism is the condition of the greens. They were littered with ball mark damage but I blame the players for this, not the course management. Note to some players (you know who you are): Take care of the greens!
Good Course for the Money
Enjoyed the course quite a bit. Challenging in places, however wide open in others. Course was cared for, and you can tell. Nice variety of holes, however it looked like the greens have taken a beating in places.
Good course to play.
All course conditions (Fairways, Tees, Bunkers) were in very good condition. Pace of play was excellent. Most days, a bit pricey.
The sand traps need attention.
Maintenance has to do better with the sand traps. Get the golfers to fix their divots. The greens are being destroyed.
Average
There was rain in the K.C. area 30 hours prior to our play and the course was not wet but they made it cart path only which on a fairly long course like this made play not as enjoyable. The staff was excellant but closed the rereshment area early.
A very pleasant round in the afternoon
The course is in good condition. We like the cold water buckets throughout the course. A great deal we have.
Thank you!
My favorite course in KC
This was my second time playing Prairie Highlands and I loved it just as much this time as the first time I played it. It helped that the weather was perfect certainly but I really, really enjoy this course. Great value.
