Old silo July 2014
Excellent but challenging course. The clubhouse should be better prepared for golfers making the turn. Long wait, suggest they prepare some grab and go items to help the pace of play.
Good course.
Bunkers need some work but fairways and greens were nice.
Fun but challenging
Great course with a ton bunkers to challenge every level of golfer. Greens were in great shape. Course is tight on a lot of the holes so right club selection is a must. Left the driver in the bag on multiple holes and chose to play long irons. Left myself with long second shots but if played correctly and second shots were short you could chip close to hole and have excellent chance at par. Would recommend this course to anyone looking to challenge themselves.
Great golf course
I played Old Silo on June 19, 2014. I went there based on the boast of #1 public course in Kentucky and the great rates offered. It is a 2 hour drive from my home in Cincinnati and it was extremely worth the drive. Practice facilities were very nice, very friendly welcome from pro shop staff. From the first tee on the course was beautiful (layout, conditions, scenery). Just an all around great course. I will return, maybe this week, I will always take a drive for a good round of golf.
Great course for the money
Great value, one of the best public courses in Kentucky. Course was in fantastic shape besides many of the bunkers a consisting of just hard dirt. Besides that, fantastic. Greens stuck well, some faster than others but all in all, a fantastic place to play. Could be extraordinarily challenging for a new player but for the intermediate to advanced player it's as exciting a course as you'll find. A little out of the way but it's location is part of the mystique.
Great track with unique and challenging holes
One of my favorite courses in KY. However, bunkers need some work. Almost no sand. Hit off hard pan dirt. Rest of course in good shape.
Best course in the area
The course was as beautiful as it was challenging. Great round!
course is in great shape
The course is in great shape. The greens hold good. the fairways are wide until your approach shot then they narrow and the greens are protected by sand traps. Challenging and fun to play. In a hilly state the overall fairways had areas to hit good shots from.
Good fairways and greens but stops there
Great clubhouse staff, good fairways and greens but that's where the upkeep stops, bunkers are just dirt holes full of rocks and gravels, where people have tried to play from green side bunkers there are a lot of small pebbles thrown onto the greens. Pace of play is the slowest round of golf I've EVER played in 40 years of playing, course needs to put some rangers out on the course, instead of just ringing in the cash and flooding front and back !!!!! If your round can't be enjoyed why would a player ever return to a course that's only about the money.
very slow play
Took 3.5 hrs to play 9 holes. We quit after due to long delays at tee box.
Outstanding course to play The only negative was the poor condition of the sand traps
Love the layout. Love the challenge love the fast greens
Great layout, course condition subpar
One of my favorite courses in central Kentucky, but very disappointed in the conditions of the bunkers. I won't return unless the bunkers are repaired and maintained on a regular basis.
Tony
Course is a great layout. One of the best in KY and most states I have played. The bunkers are awful and have been for years. It is a real eyesore and the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star. I consider this my home course and wish they would fill these in with grass or new sand. Just do something
very challenging track
the course has some of the best sets of tee boxes you`ll find anywhere and the fairways are excellent shape also there are more than a few bunkers that need attention but overall i really like this place will be headed back soon
Great conditioning and layout! Must Play
Course is really well designed. Awesome layout! Would recommend to any golfer looking to play an upscale public track. Course is challenging but very fair.
early spring and yet the greens were outstanding
The course was in great condition for this early .The only negative was that the bunkers <and there are a lot of them> were unplayable. Still in need of rock removal and sand. Great track though
Incredible layout
Fantastic Golf Course, a challenge for any level player.
Used golfnow to make tee times, $20.01 to ride 18 on a Sat., normally $39.00 this time of yr. Best deal I ever had.
Played with 2 gentlemen who knew the course, that was extremely helpful and they pretty darn good players as well.
Bunkers were in rough shape
Challenging round of golf, good test.
The course was in excellent condition but challenging as result of some tough pin positions and fast greens. The course was soft due to overnight rain but played fair. Yardage markings could have been better but yardage booklets provided at pro shop helped. Excellent practice range, putting green, chipping green. Many, many sand traps throughout the course -- some too wet due to the rains.
Very challenging and beautiful course
The best golf value out there, it's a $90-100 dollar value, I enjoyed it more than The "V" course to the west. Advertised as the top public course in the state and it lived up to the advertising.
