Course should shut down
They are changing this course from a 36 hole course to a 27 hole and it is under construction. The fairways are worse than the grass at a public park. They shouldn't even be called fairways. They are laying down sod in sections on the fairways but most of sod is now dead. The other parts of the fairway are terrible. A lot of dust and construction noise. It is going to take them at least 2 years to get this course to be in decent shape. The only thing that was good was the greens as they are fast and roll true, other than that it was terrible. Don't waste your time or money playing here.
Destroyed Course
The course is not playable condition. I surprized that the course is still open during construction. It seems that the renovation is aiming to be an eco-freindly meaning comsumes less water, but it will not work in my point of view. It should be done right way not done roughly. I am sad to see destroying of this beautiful course by the people who has no idea about golf.
Don't come ....
Your fairways is very bad conditions.
How come you didn't notify that its on construction.
We really feel bad about your golf course.
Golf course under construction
The course is far from being done , but has the potential to be a great course in about a year. The layout was pretty challenging , there wasn't much room for error . I look forward to playing it again in a year or so.
Painful to see.
Feel really sorry for this facility. Drought, fire, torrential rains have devastated this golf course. Kudos to all the work and energy going on around the golf course. Only question I'd ask is why is there so much money being spent on the lakes and walls around the lakes. Get the golf course more playable then worry about the lakes.
Grounds under repair
Woke up and decided I wanted to play a round. Looked on GolfNow and found great price and this course is pretty close. Had tee time for 12:20 and arrived at 11:45. The nice guy in the pro shop checked me in and said I could go out now if I'd like. Got behind a twosome and started my round. The other course they have was closed as they seemed to have redone it and the course I played was under reconstruction as well. There were areas of just dirt and drainage ditches etc and construction workers and things going on. The workers were courteous and would move out of the way or stop their tractors etc while on the hole. None of this mattered to me. Sure my ball went on a few ditches and other construction areas but overall the course was still in good shape and the greens were great. I hardly saw the twosome in front of me and on the back I was pretty sure I was the only one on that side. Played in 3:30 and shot one of my best rounds in a while. Can't wait for all the work to be done and both courses open completely. I've played here a few times before and will definitely go back.
First Weekend Open
Well it was a long while since the course was open. Only one of the two 18s is open. Excited it finally play it again, but was let down but a few wrinkles still needing to be ironed. Course has long boasted about best greens in so cal for many years. And the course itself was the most green I'd seen in years. However the putting surface on all holes was full in small rocks and pebbles marking puts veer offline. There used to be a starter that segmented the groups from going out too fast and keeping the grouping normal. This weekend however the course was a free for all at hole 1. People jumping all over the course because it was incredibly slow and on most holes we were backed up 2-3 groups. No marshalls and very little staff. Group behind us called starter complained on hole 8 and got a rain check. I chalk most of this to ramp up and scaling a course that has been closed for a while. But took forever to play and with waiting 10-13 minutes on every shot I wished I woulda complained and got a rain check.
Under Construction
Need to close down untill construction is finished
I would not get out there list another 12month.
They are working hard
Played here for the first time in 2 years and it is definitely on its way back to being a premier golf club.
It is playable now but barely, lots of work still needs to be done but the crews are out there working hard laying sod and landscaping.
Fairways are being grown out or sodded. Sand traps have new sand but need to be graded out. The rough is being shaped and sodded as well. The fires completely cleared out the back nine so it's way more friendly. Some new tees were added as well.
Talked to one of the assistant pros and he stated that the raines have refilled the wells and water is not issue.
Bottom line is that the course is going to be great but in about 2 months. They should be offering very discounted green fees so folks can get a look at it now.
Drought
I liked the layout of the course and believe that properly maintained is a very nice course. But, due the severe drought they are very limited on the amount of watering allowed. That being said the greens were in very nice shape.
Great potential.
Dry AF
The course layout was really great, had a lot of slopes to test your skill, however the fairways were sadly dry. California being in a devastating drought i can understand why so dry, and why a lot of people wouldn't want to play there. They completely closed down the other course, it was sad to drive up to dry fairways.
Breaks my heart
It breaks my heart that this once majestic layout has been reduced to barely playable conditions by the severe drought here in Southern California. I hope against all hope that we get some rain and some relief for this gem in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Great Day!
We had a great day on the course. There were plenty of challenges to avoid and water to get over. The greens and teeboxes were in fabulous shape! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The fairways were a little dry, but it's summer and we're in a drought so that was to be expected. We are definitely going back!
Not worth the money!!
I am certain that this golf course at one point was a crown jewel but unfortunately times have changed and is no longer a suitable course. RR should not even advertise it because its in really bad, bad conditions. This course should come with its own small print "play at your own risk" for $20.00 max, perhaps the pace of play was great because there was nobody there? Will never be back on that course again. thanks
Water the course
Robinson ranch was a great course to play but with no water the course sucks now it's like hitting the ball on concrete not good. I will never play their again sorry Robinson ranch
Poor Condition
I knew Robinson Ranch was having drought issues but I was hoping that with some recent rains and maybe better water management the course may have come back a little. I was wrong. Any shots from the fairway were from dirt. The fairway bunkers were no longer managed and weeds were growing in them. The greens though were in excellent condition. I played the Mountain course for $30, and its the closest course to my house (5 min), so I was willing to give it a shot at that cost. I have heard that the Valley course is in better shape. It also costs more. They should probably shut down the Mountain course and use the water and resources they have and just concentrate on the Valley course (or maybe convert the Mountain to a 9 hole).
Great greens faiways not so much
Greens great condition fast but fairways are hard as rock. I think they are fo forced to not water course bcause drought. But for money still well wor
A great day
Played with 2 other singles and had a great day on one of the best for the money courses in the area. Broke 90 for first time in 6 rounds there so that was nice also. A good test for a mid hcp golfer.
Could use some water
Inexpensive and pace of play was great. Staff and cart girl was very friendly. Course was very tight in spots. Fairways were brown where there was grass.
