Fun course + great weather = a fantastic day!
This is a course where there is a certain amount of generosity in areas where one can ‘miss’ a shot BUT IF you do miss on the wrong side of fairway or green get ready to write down a big number on your scorecard! I’d need to go back and look at the course layout but the holes seemed to be more setup (to the eye anyway) for those who primarily draw the ball. In typical Palmer fashion there were plenty of blind shots and with no GPS on the carts it would be helpful if someone in your group had an app so you can get a feel for your aim points. The course gets very interesting and FUN and beautiful when you get to the holes where there is massive elevation change, I loved it. The greens were perfect, rolled very nice and were pretty quick, you definitely don’t want to go long and have to chip downhill to the flag! Lastly, there was a fair amount of water in play on the course, wasn’t really expecting that out here in the desert, but certainly added to the fun. All in all, a very enjoyable round.
narrow landings
The white tees are enough of a challenge unless you are a sub 10 handicap. Need marshal to speed up play. Fun course if you a slight fade
Bad timing
Twas the day before overseed, and everything was dry and hard. Very difficult to play because there was No way to hold a green. The sand bunkers had a thin layer and then hard pan underneath.
The course was in the process of closing for reseeding. So the condition wasn't what I'm sure it's suppose to be. Looking forward to playing again when it is well maintained. I played on the last day before closing ,so conditions was dry.
Thirsty
Drink cart lady had to be called to get to see her. Course was ready to be overseeded so not in the smoothest shape
Oasis courses are both highly recommended
Palmer had some unique and scenic holes. I found the Canyons course to be a better test.
Not like we remembered
Dead grass. Greens weren’t good. We had played Casa Blanca the day before and their course was in better shape. They just don’t have the elevation changes.
