Nestled at the base of Mount Diablo, Deer Ridge Golf Club wanders through rolling, oak-dappled hills. The course has several challenging holes but the hazards are balanced by more player-friendly elements like wide, forgiving fairways and generous greens. There is also plenty of room off the tees and at just over 6,300 yards it is a manageable length as well. Though it is gentle enough for beginners, the thoughtful routing and hilly terrain keep it interesting for low handicappers. Deer Ridge Golf Club's front nine is more open and slightly less difficult, but the back nine gets a little trickier with more trees and more dramatic elevation changes coming into play. The terrain gives each hole a unique character and different challenges. The wind can also be a major factor. Good course management will be well rewarded.

Pin place ment
The course is fine the pin place ment is always bad there’s no consistency as far as where they put the pins. They tend to put them on hills which makes it impossible to make putts. Other than that everything else was good.
a good round spoiled
Deer Ridge is a perfectly acceptable muni experience. Good condition...some interesting holes. What always irritates me about my experiences here...usually 2-3 times a year....is the pace of play...5+ hours and douchieness of the players. For example, we trailed a twosome the whole round...who consistently played slow...took repeated drop shots when missing forced carries to the point that they were probably playing par 4's at 9 by the time they landed on the green. When asked to keep up with the group in front...they responded by flipping us off. I shoulda beat them to death for that. When they drove off the 18th green, they waved at us. They weren't so bold in the parking lot. Thi course needs marshalls on the course. I probably wont be back.
Brentwood golf
I was a single playing with a 3 some. I knew it was going to be bad when two of the three didn't show up until the start of the second hole. These guys weren't in golf shirts and shared one set of clubs. No golf shoes and gym shorts. Before we tee off on the second hole they say it's there first time playing. I was done. Took over 20 minutes to finish hole 2 and I took my bag off the cart and called the club house to pick me up. I played the back 9 and fished before the 3 hole 8. No marshal to move them along 6 hour round for anyone behind them. I know things are bad there but give membershis away for a few marshals.
Great round!
Course was in great condition and staff was very friendly.
The pace of play was great, perfect day!
This used to be a good course
To be fair we paid $32. The course is interesting and has some challenging holes and greens. If it were maintained better it would be worth a return. There was no sand in most traps. Since no driving range they touted their chipping area which was impossible to use as completely unmaintained. No marshal or if so never was seen to speed up slow groups ahead.
Friday
Always fun playing this course staffs are friendly and courteous. Greens are getting better and layout of the course is fun to play
local course
Deer Ridge is an excellent golf course for a public course. I would play it again and again.
Fun times
Course was in great condition. Play was slow on the front nine. Appeared to be a tournament of some sort. Had a great time otherwise
Course is a fun track but not what it once was
I still enjoy playing this track a lot but the condition of the course isn't as nice as when they sister course(Shadow Lakes) was still open.I find the courses in brentwood are becoming less attractive and the best ones are closing down(Roddy Ranch and Shadow Lakes)which were the two real challenge courses here. But its still a fun place to come play a round if you can find a deal on it and its not gonna be warm in the bay area.
very busy for mid-wek
I realize the Delta has lost several courses over the last 18 months...but this was truly shocking. Noon tee time....foursomes sent out every 10 minutes...which wouldn't be problem if the skill level was higher. But, its a muni...and player skill is all over the board. From topped tee shots to ball searching caravans on every hole. If you want to do that folks...have more Marshalls on the course to keep groups moving along. I quit at 13 after 5+ hours.
The greens were a little pokey after aeration...get the rollers out folks...they looked good..but didn't roll well.
No range, no amenities, poor condition
Wow, this place is really going down. I predict is not long before it goes away. Course conditions in spring should be much better. Greens are rough and slow, sand in traps nonexistent, fairways and tee boxes are mediocre at best.
Deer Ridge golf
Very nice day to play, greens were quick and well groomed. Pace of play was good.
Slow Play but course is in good shape
Aggravatingly slow round (5:45 hours), but not too surprising for a Saturday afternoon. Course is in nice shape. Bunkers need work. Weather was awesome. Cafe was closed when we finished around 6:00.
Too Slow
We play this course often since it is close to home, and the price is right. I know it's usually slow on weekends, but today was ridiculous. They let a five-some play in front of us, not ony were they a five-some, but an extremely poor playing five-some with no sense of pace of play, and they should not have been playing from the blue tees. We watched at least a few of them looking for their ball on the hills sides on almost every hole. No marshalls were found anywhere
