Unfortunate meeting the Captain
We have played this course before and thourly enjoyed our golf that day. Our return was marred by meeting the Captain of the club.
We were given our score cards and welcomed the four players by the gentlemen who gave us the cards. Unfortunately at the 6th hole we met the captain who was not so friendly as we were TOLD to get off the his course due to one player wearing denims. Sadly power goes to some people's head and not encouraging players. It was a mistake of wearing them but we could of been reminded of the club rules and he could of been nicer about the situation. I am only a beginner and don't know all the rules and it's nice when someone gives you a wee hint or tip to help play. Getting thrown off is not helpful. Sadly I have had to write this about a course a had previously enjoyed.
Dumbarton
Nice parkland course played on one of the hottest days of the summer. No surprise to find conditions very dry after days of hot sunshine - very different conditions to what we'd normally deal with..
We enjoyed our round, and would happily go back again.
Friends
Caught up with old mates and this is a wee gem of a course-‐ nice welcome and great condition for our level
Great Course
The course was in excellent condition, the full.party.enjoyed the round. First time being paired up with a fellow now golfer but it went well. Staff were friendly and accommodating, all in all it was a great experience
Dumbarton golf course
The course is well looked after by the greenkeepers , and it is a flat course with no hills so perfect for elderly people . Excellent value fir money
Pleasant Place
I enjoyed my day on Dumbarton Golf Course. Locals were friendly and the course in good condition.
Great. 1st class.
Lovely course. Well kept, not too difficult & not too long. 3 great par 3’s and plenty of chances to score. Clubhouse closed but Honorary President there to greet & provide advice, ticket etc.
First rate golf club & very enjoyable round of golf.
Poor for the price
Weather was cold but dry.
Sand heavily thrown down on tee boxes, and tee boxes very bare in most cases. Greens heavily sanded making putting unreliable.
General conditions of greens was poor - patchy with a lot of discolouration.
I paid £30 for my round. It should be much lower IMO and was a rip off at the price asked.
Should be more like £12-15 max.
Nice and easy starter
Nice and easy flat simple course ideal for beginners, no real tough or challenging holes. If you want a challenge look else where, if you are just starting out this will be ideal for you.
excellent layout
the day we played the greens were getting worked on as you can read on the other reviews , when are they supposed to do this work !!! it has to be done to make the greens good wake up , the people that are moaning did you call the club to ask about conditions ?? no i bet so stop moaning. Dumbarton is a great course and we all will defo be back ,we came from Largs go and play it you will enjoy !! don't moan about the wind at a golf course Jesus <

disgrace
hi ! the course was a disgrace ! 18 winter greens and they were awful. golfnow had no right to charge and book me on this mess of a course
Disappointing
Course and staff as nice and helpful as always but there had been no notifications of the greens being worked on. Being still in September and all 18 greens off was a big disappointment. What made it even worse was that most of the temporary greens were in poor Condition and the course was shortened quite measurably. Will not put us off returning but will check on course condition first.
