Very slow
Lovely course but we were stuck behind a party of very slow 4-balls. Luckily it was a sunny day. Would like to play again at a better pace of play.
Well kept course with stunning views
This is the nicest course I’ve played so far. Conditions of fairways, tees, greens and bunkers were all pristine. Nice variety of holes, friendly staff and great facilities. Will be back
Day at abergele
Sunday afternoon game of golf lovely course well presented and a credit to its green staff and members well worth a visit
Lovely course
Really nice golf course with varied holes ! Had a fabulous day playing for my friends 60 th birthday
Nice in summer but...
We ventured out into North Wales last week to play at Abergele. I have played Abergele some years ago and I really enjoyed it on that occasion.
This time it was a cold, windy January day. The course was very wet in places, very muddy in places. Six thousand yards played like eight thousand with no run on the ball which was frequently semi-plugged. Preferred lies were in operation but there was so much mud to clean off the ball on virtually every shot. Greens were quite true though. Course layout is a bit repetitive and no hole here is making my top 18 in North Wales selection.
The pro shop staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful and were great ambassadors for their club.
We played as a two ball with two further pairs ahead of us. On the 3rd hole, these pairs combined to play a fourball with the consequent slowing down of everyone behind. Pace of play is always a difficult one but this did seem to be unnecessarily inconvenient when it was obvious everyone else was paired up.
My advice for what it's worth is to wait until the many trees are in leaf and the roll returns to the fairways. Even then it won't become a gem of North Wales but the course will provide a pleasant enough afternoon out.
The course lay out was set in a beautiful place with a castle in its back ground. The course had some amazing holes. The only bad thing for me, was some of the fairways had way to many leaves on them.
Fantastic course
We really enjoy the course ,the views are spectacular and the layout is great .
The staff were very friendly and the amenities are first class.
We will play there again
Trees everywhere
Nice parkland course with great views of the castle, spent most of the time behind a tree, recommended.
Great Golf
Abergele is a great course so well maintained and perfect setting.
First time using Golfnow. works well and I met and played the round with another user of the web site.
Great company and better than playing on your own. His name was John and if he in in the area again then would be good to have another round. Didn't get his details though.
John P.
Ok course but…
Very friendly locals.
Course tee boxes scruffy, some are bare and battered, fairways very dry and burnt, greens although not in tiptop condition are running true. Overall the course is flat and too easy. Not a thinking course. Lacking in challenge apart from the 18th which I really liked. Would recommend the course to those seeking a leisurely round.
Well worth it
Abergele is in such great condition that this pretty and challenging course is well worth a visit. Staff could not be more helpful
