Course conditions
Although it is early in the season the course was in average condition, greens were slow and bobbly,Hopefully it will improve with the warmer weather as normally it is In excellent condition
Anniversary Round at Abergele
From the start the staff in the pro shop were extremely friendly and when wondering around the club other members were helpful. Having played the course around 25 years ago and my wife's first round there, although originally an Abergele girl, the course was in excellent condition. Very hard, greens superb and a delight to play. So it was certainly an anniversary round fully enjoyed by both and one to remember!
Fairways
The fairways need to be cut shorter as they was far to like a rough. Maybe cut short and course would be perfect then.
Great round
Visited knowing it was a great looking course and playing it didn’t disappoint. Really enjoyed each of the holes. Will be back for sure.
Worth a visit, great quality but not spectacular
My view of Abergele is it would never let you down and is a great place to visit. The course is fairly challenging in length. Greens are fast and true and an absolute joy. I understand they have USGA greens that should be great all year round. Challenges where plenty of trees off the fairway and good bunker placement. If I was to be critical it is quite flat and not so spectacular as you would like with the exception of the 17 uphill par 3 needing extra clubbing and 18 which is a really great signature hole. However, the very high standard of golf course condition and facilities make it well worth a visit.
Great Day of Golf
The course is set in tremendous location just under the castle in Abergele. Fairways were in excellent condition and the greens were really fast . 4-5 really challenging holes albeit some were set out a bit strange.
All in all a great knock on an overall good course and well worth a round
Parkland Beauty
Excellent test of golf it was windy when we played off yellow markers so it was a bit more challenging. Tree lined fairways and rough cut short so no issues finding golf balls, the greens are really good but were a bit on the slow side.Definately worth a visit
Very good course
We played in a fourball at the back of a course open competition so play was a bit slow but to be expected, this however didn't take anything away from the course as it's in great condition and the greens were very receptive, also they held a true roll excellent day and I would certainly recommend Abergele Golf Club.
a gem in North Wales
Played Abergele for the first time, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. The Pro shop staff were very helpful. Look forward to returning to play it again, hopefully without any of the wet stuff!
Avoid Comp Days
Booking on line is easy and does offer good savings but it doesn’t advise when a course has any comp’s! etc! As if it had I wouldn’t have booked a start time of 2.12 leaving me to follow a ladies comp. When we finally reached the 12th only to find a four ball on the tee, one playing their second/third shots and another playing their approaches to the green, we decided to play the 12th but then move directly to the 16th tee which gave us a clear path to the finish!
In conclusion please advise clients before booking of any comps/corporate days that their course selection may be hosting. Clients could then choose to delay their tee time or select another day!
Gem of a course in delightful setting
Abergele GC is a gem of a course in a delightful setting. The course is always in top condition and the facilities are great. Make sure to visit Stuart in the pro shop who will set you up for a first class day out on the course and the bar/restaurant is a great place to unwind after your round.
Hidden Gem
Course is in great condition and the greens are rolling very true, amazing backdrop with the Castle in the hillside will definitely be back.
Abergele golf club
Enjoyed my round on this parkland course which was in very good condition given the time of year. Its in a lovely area overlooked by a castle, with views of the sea from higher points of the course. Played from proper tee's all greens were in use and in good condition, no fairway restrictions. Will definitely come back again.
