Poor conditions. No grass in fairways. 2 flat tires with our golf cart.
Not worth the price but still great
$115 for a Sunday morning tee time for a course of this level is outrageous. The layout is great, conditions are normal for January, the staff was friendly but only saw the cart girl once and the pro shop is under remodel, solid overall but not worth the price, especially considering the same quality of courses in the area are $20-$40 cheaper. And this course used to be $20-$40 cheaper not long ago and you can play a better quality muni for half the price if you’re willing to drive.
Winter Golf
Second time playing the course. Couldn't get back soon enough. Really like the layout of the course. It suites my eye well. Course is extremely well maintained. Greens were a tad slow this round due to not being able to cut them for a couple of days because of weather. But considering the amount of rain they'd had, the course drains really well.
Mother Nature hasn't been too cooperative. Both rounds were played after several days of rain. Looking forward to playing it under dry conditions.
Great course
Just played here the other day for the first time. Price is a little high but the course does not disappoint. I don’t mind paying $86 when the course is that good. The price definitely fits the course and the practice facilities. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to play in DFW.
Sad!
Labor Day weekend and the driving range is closed!! Are you kidding me? No wonder you have so many tee times available for today. Need new management and or owners. And still charging people $115 to play this mediocre course. Folks, go play The Trials of Frisco. Way better course and less money.
SLOW!
Teed off at 4:04pm on a Friday. Didn’t get to finish.
We called the Marshall after playing 7 holes in 3 hours. The Marshall said that the average round for a Friday is 6 hours.l!! How can you expect to have a good time when all you do is wait on every hole and every shot!? Completely unacceptable..
When I checked in with the Marshall before the round, he advised I’ll be after the 4pm tee time. I was shocked since I had a 4:04pm tee time. 4 min intervals between groups? Really? AND the group was a 2 some and our group was a 2 some. Terrible course management from the Marshall.
Seems like this course is more concerned with taking your money then your experience.
Now, the course was in “okay” shape. Soft fairway grass and slow furry greens. But the holes are not much of a challenge. Extremely wide open.
Overall, there is a lot of better choices to play in DFW. Don’t waste your time ( literally) sitting around on this course.
Avoid this course for 115
I used to play this course 2-3 times a month for 2 years. In the last year and a half, it has gone down the drain. It is in the worst shape I’ve seen it, but more expensive than I’ve ever seen it. Pro shop is empty. Range is usually closed. Pace of play is SLOW. Avoid this course.
Not worth the cost
Pace of play is terrible no one ever asks anyone to play to pace have never been able to get through 18 holes without waiting for the bottleneck of golfers standing around waiting to play.
Slowest Round Ever 5 1/2+ hours
Only took 3 hrs to play the first 9 holes and we only had 3 people in our group and it wasn't cart path only. The back nine took 2 1/2 hours since some people just quit since it was so slow. A normal round should be 4- 4 1/2 hrs. Not sure why it was so backed up. They need some Marshalls on the course to move people around faster. The Pro Shop needs to get more merchandise on shelf for customers. They didn't have much for shirts or hats or anything to buy. The course is nice, but they charge way to much during normal hours. They don't even have GPS on the carts and you can't find any sprinklers with yardage. I love the layout of the course and the greens were in good shape.
Course conditions
It’s hard to get upset with a course conditions in the middle of the Texas summer. However charging someone100$ to play a course that you are playing out of dirt in the fair way is unreal. So over priced for the heat of the summer while not maintaining the course
Good to see it back
I had sworn this course off a couple years ago because the condition had deteriorated so much. A friend told me to give it another try, and it is definitely back in great condition.
Only complaint is that the driving range is closed, and there was no warning of this in GolfNow. A good warmup is important to me. I would have played elsewhere if I had known this.
New management is out-kicking their coverage
I’ll start by saying I love the layout at Frisco Lakes. It’s been a favorite in my group for many years. The new management is way out over their skis, however. Greens fees have been spiking everywhere, but Frisco Lakes takes the prize. This course has always been in fantastic shape and had great staff. ~$65/round on a weekend in 2020 is now $100 in 2022, with no appreciable change in course condition or amenities.
Frankly, I’d be happy to pay the new price because I’ve been well taken care of at FL over the years. But that’s not the case anymore. They’ve been through 3 head pros in 2 years. The pro shop is staffed largely by the local high school pep squad, as far as I can tell. The driving range is closed more than it’s open. And the pace of play has ground to a halt with tee times stacked 8 mins apart.
I’m transferring out of state and won’t be playing the course regularly going forward. I’m sad to say that I’m not going to miss Frisco Lakes under this management group.
Way better options
Spend your money elsewhere. This course is Not a $100 course. It use to be $60 - $75 course but with new ownership….. Too many better options in the North Dallas area and for less money. Go play Hertiage Ranch or Wildhorse Ranch or even play Frisco Trail, these are such better dollars per course options.
