This course is for seniors
The length of the course makes it definitely fit for retired people. Greens were in bad shape with a lot of bare spots and were very bumpy. Fairways were in good shape.
Just Average
For the money, the greens were in pretty bad shape, along with other areas throughout the course.
Too many well kept courses in the area to play here again.
Fun Lynx style course w/ many unique holes.
1:30pm tee time w/ wife for $15.90/ea thru GN.com. Course is in fairly good condition. Could use a little watering: tee boxes dried & sparsely grassed. Fairways pretty plush. Elevated medium sized greens rolling true & medium to fast paced. 13th hole is a goofy blind tee shot. back nine tee boxes chopped up. Battery powered carts w/ windshield & rain cover in back. Will definitely play again when in area.
Great course, slower players but good play overall
Course was wide open with exception of some slower foursomes. Course was in good shape with recently sanded greens. Not for faster player.
Good course but with Problems
2nd time playing here (the first time and the last!)...Yardage markings were poor; finding the way from green to tee was horrendous-you have to drive through the neighborhood with no or very small signage; only 1 water barrel in 18 holes that we saw; many many huge retention areas that were not navigable-can't drive cart around them or in them. Course seems built around retention areas. Nobody was playing on the Friday we were there so that was nice and the weather was good. Better than working, I suppose!
Very nice experience
Course was in great shape, greens were nice. Not too long, but some interesting holes. Staff was very nice, and pace of play not too bad. I'll certainly be returning.
good day
great greens, fairways kinda tight , a few strange hole lay outs but over all a very nice place , very nice day.
First time at Ocala palms
Very nice course but narrow fairways. Greens were great.
Worth the revisit
On time. Not over booked. On list for replay. Greens good.
much improved
it's been 19 months since we've played here. the course is in great shape. fairways were nice & the greens rolled true. nothing to complain about the course. just wish they had a concession cart riding around the course with refreshments. will definately be back.
Worth playing from time to time
Ok, so it's not the toughest layout and it's not pristine, but it's cheap and they run a right ship. It was packed yet we rarely had to wait and when we did it was only for a minute or two. Easy to get to, and it's I'm good enough condition that you will always have decent lies in play.
requires course knowledge...
always a pleasure to play at the Palms..it is in great shape for this time of the year.
A challenge
Must be able to carry ravines on second shot. An experience in course management
Well maintained course
Course is well maintained and pace of play was excellent with very little waiting.
Nice course.
Nice friendly course. Easy distances but tough on slicers and hookers. I love the fairway lengths; not buzzed short and dry like so many Florida courses. It's a nice height that lets you get an iron off cleanly. Friendly staff. Fast electric carts.
A challenge
Nice fairways, greens were good. The tee boxes were just starting to be mowed after reseeding. Lots of deep ditches to stay out of.
Up in air
Me recommending this course would be based on price. The over all of the trip was ok. The fairways are in good shape but the greens need work. This course is just like a lot of other courses in a retirement community. They pack the day so heavy that we had people hitting right on top of us and would be a pain till you let them play through. If I play this course again it would have to be a really cheep price.
Great fairways, greens and Tee Boxes
This week I went to Ocala Palms. The course had been recently overseeded, the tee boxes were covered with a winter rye grass that was Kelly green. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. I have never stepped on a green that was so soft and still putted with a moderate speed. The fairways were great to hit from when you can land on them. This links course has very narrow fairways and some hidden gulleys that could swallow a tractor trailer. The homes were close to the OB markers for my taste. I played from the white tees that were 5579 yards long with a course rating of 67.9 a slope rating of 112 and for a bogey player they were a challenge. The course has many hidden challenges; you should drive up the fairways to see what lurks ahead before you tee off. Ownership of the course had recently changed and major efforts were being made to the course. The sand traps need to be addressed and fortunately I did not have to dig myself out. The staff was very helpful and the practice area was sufficient. Keep up the good work!
First time was great
First time golfing this course my wife and I really enjoyed it. The staff was great and the other golfers allowed use to play thru.
the fairways and greens were great. love the experience! we will go back and play this course again.
a great experience
We enjoyed the round of golf we had. If the rain would have held off another 30 minutes, it would have been nicer. The only difficulty that we had was that some of the fairways don't drain well. Even before the rains came (15th hole) some fairways were very wet. Other than that the time we had was well spent and we would recommend this course to everyone.
