Good course
I have played this course several times and the course is interesting and in good condition in both fairways and greens.
Not in best condition
Had not played this course in years - and have played it in better condition. Still decent for the money. I am not a long hitter and I found it hard to hit some of the fairways on the longer holes from the back tees.(6500 yards)
House are very close on some of the holes - so you cannot be errant off the tee.
OK course for the money.($20 in afternoon through GolfNow)
Short, interesting & challenging.
Very short course but very enjoyable. Requires using different clubs off the tee with many forced carries - while not long still provide challenges and big time penalties for poorly hit shots. I would definitely recommend and the bar/restaurant was friendly and moderately priced as well.
great course for the value
Tough course for first time playin here but overall enjoyed it and will return to try agian
Some challenging holes
Had not played this course in several years, actually had forgotten the hazards on some holes. Next time will remember hazards and play the course differently.
Too Bad It Was So Wet!!
I played the course after several days of HEAVY afternoon showers and the front nine was especially soggy. I was playing from the back (Green) tees which cards at 6405 yards. But with little or no roll due to the saturation factor it played a lot longer. But I was really impressed with the greens. Though slowed by the rain they were smooth and true. By the time I reached the back nine the course had started to dry out a little and became more fun than work. That was especially important when I reached the 13th hole--a monster 479 yard Par 4. Unreachable in two I was fortunate to chip and 1-putt for par (Whew!). The hallmark of this course is the number of blind tee shots. It might be a good idea when playing this course for the first time to scout head before you hit your drive to see where you are supposed to go. I didn't and put my tee shot on 18 right in the middle of the 9th fairway. I would recommend the maintenance crew edge and groom the bunkers. They are getting a little ragged. But the quality and density of the sand was good the few times I was in them. I liked playing this course, but I look forward to playing it again when the conditions are a little drier.
super nice course
This course has a great layout.
Plenty of hazards and water.
Course is in great condition.
Very well maintained.
You will really enjoy playing here.
Interesting Holes, Slow Greens
It's worth playing once because of the interesting layout of holes. Would be frustrating to play often because greens are very slow and rough, so it's difficult making putts. Need a lot of course knowledge to know how to play each hole as well.
The course is in great shape.
The course is in great shape. The greens are a little slow, if you in the Ocala area add this one to your list.
More challenging than the yardge suggests.
Not a long course, but plenty to make it interesting. The fairways are well maintained and the greens are mostly in good to better condition. Some rough is needing mowed, but we should just stay in the fairways. Ha.
The course was in good sahpe
I always have a pleasent experience at this course. The staff is friendly, and attentive to pace.
OH SO NICE!
Visted Ocala Palms which is off of HWY 27 just west of I-75 in June. Used one of my par deals from Golf Now to make it all that inexpensive. Got to the property, an active adult community with single family homes, about an hour early. The gentleman in the pro shop was as accommodating as he could and got us out about 45 minutes early. He explained the layout, watering holes, markers and suggested we keep hydrated because of the heat and humidity this day. Ocala Palms is a great layout with all the distance you need from various tee locations. The continuous rolling hills keep the course challenging with different views from every tee. After a poor start , I found my groove and started whipping OPCC. We had a quick time of it on the front, but then an afternoon shower with thunder and lightening showed up. We headed for safety of the bar and enjoyed pleasant service and some cool ones from the lovely bartenderess. It was back to birdie time on the back and I made easy work of the rest of day. Everyone was very pleasant to us. Ocala Palms is OH SO NICE!
Short, moderately challenging course for a good value
Shorter course, with back tees (Green) playing about 6400 yards while the next furthest (White) played about 5600. A number of holes have water or other hazards that require well placed shots and the occasional layup off the tee. The course is very wide open which allows players who suffer with accuracy off the tee to recover and still shoot a decent score. The greens are smaller than average and require players to have precision on approach shots to score well. The fairways were in good condition; however, there were a few greens that were very bumpy and could use some work. Overall though it's a nice little course that I would definitely play again.
Greens need attention
I think they waited to long to attend to the greens. Some of them were like putting on the moon lots of craters!
The course is a challeng to play however the greens need much attention!
This is a challenging but fun course to play. Not easy, but not so difficult you don't want to play again. The biggest problem now are the greens. They have what looks like sod web worm problems and have lumps and bumps everywhere with small circles of dirt to putt through. Once the greens receive the attention they need and the grass grows back in it will be on my list of fun places to play.
Old tired disappointed
Course was in rough shape. Poor design. Greens poor. Price cheap but not worth playing if for free.
interesting, it's the only course I've ever played where there are retention ponds in the center of what would normally be a fairway
interesting, it's the only course I've ever played that has retention ponds (fortunately, dry this time of year, but a real water hazard during our summer rainy season) in the center of what would normally be a fairway
Lots of Fun...Great Condition...Loved the Greens
Had fun from the beginning check-in. Fairways and Greens in great condition for the amount of play the course gets this time of the year. The Greens ran fast and true. The hazards made for some long walks up and down hill. The boys and I will be back on a regular basis this summer.
Average
This course is an average course in a 55+ neighborhood. Fairly well maontained. . Greens are very slow. Has some weird drop off areas that probably had water in them at one time but are dry now, kind of strange.
