Bowes Creek Country Club
About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

Great course
The second cut was a little long making the course difficult. Keep your ball in the fairway and you are good
Great Track and in Good Shape
Hadn't played here in over a year and forgot how nice it was. Even though late in the year, course was in great shape. Tees are nice, fairways nice and greens pretty good (a bit slow) for so late in season. Nice staff too. Course make you thin on a number of holes. Some tougher par 3s from the Blue/black tees. Going back next week!
nice layout
I'd put it in the top 20 in the area.
no negatives outside of an occ. crabby staffer
Hidden gem in far western suburbs
Great layout. Course was in great shape for this time of year. Greens rolled true. Definitely shot-makers course.
Fun Course
Nice course and fun layout, but pin placements this past round were diabolical, and borderline unfair on a few. The greens were kind of beat up, but I guess that's expected in late September playing in the afternoon after many groups already came through. Fairways were in good condition. Rough was plentiful. I would say it's a "fair" course in terms of difficulty; you just need to know where to miss, otherwise you could be in a lot of trouble.
Scored a great "Hot Deal" that our group couldn't pass up, otherwise usual rates are pricey.
Pace of play was about 4:15 on a Friday afternoon. Just a little waiting towards the last few holes. Not great, not awful.
Will definitely play again when a good rate comes up.
Great track
Love this layout
You have to have game here challenging all aspects
Greens a little torn up from a lot of play and to many divots not properly fixed
Championship Quality
Great staff, fabulous course in immaculate condition. If I had a complaint, it would be an odd one - can greens be too fast, or would it just be that I wasn’t used to such good conditions?
A - No. 1
Hidden Gem
My girlfriend and I had not played the course since we played 36 holes a few years ago.
We had an awesome day!
We recommend having lunch in the clubhouse after your round.
A Bow to Bowes!!!
One of my top public course choices in the entire metro Chicago area. Fair to all skill levels off the tee with a premium on shot making for approach shots to challenging green complexes. No redundancy in the course layout. A new challenge every time you step on a tee box. Fun and surprising elevation changes on the back nine!
The only negative is they frown on single players and penalize them with non discounted fees.
Course is in top condition
I usually play this course once or twice a season since it opened and feel the course is in the best condition I've ever seen. Greens were rolling true, fairways and traps were immaculate and the staff was friendly and courteous.
Disappointed in the food afterwards though....eh, I'm more concerned about the golf then the food but the review questions asked so I had to say something........FORE!!!!
Very nice layout
Course in great condition except greens on 1&2 very beat up. Don't let the poorly maintained Driving Range fool you.... the overall course conditions were very good. Sand traps are neglected but that seems to be a theme on most public courses nowadays. Play the back tees and you will have more than you bargained for. Championship layout !
Great place!
Love this place especially if you get one of their deals!
Liked the course. 133 slope from the white tees shows how tough it is. Good design and conditions. Significant elevation changes which is unusual for the Chicago area. Winds were blowing 15-20 mph which made the course even more challenging. The group in front of us were slow but the Rangers got on their case and they played the back nine at a better pace. This is one of the few courses I've played where the Rangers unforced a pace of play. I compliment them for that.
