Cedar Creek Municipal Golf Course
About
Cedar Creek is consistently rated one of the top muni courses in the USA. The hill country layout is challenging for all levels of play. Gold tees are available for scratch golfers. Some players feel that the narrow fairways allow the ball to roll to the center, but this is not evident to most players. Ride this one... it's real hard to walk. Because of it's popularity, the crowded course can play very slow. Go early or allow five hour rounds on really nice days. However, it's so pretty and great to play it's worth the time. If you can find a nice December day when the younger set is in school, that's the day to play Cedar Creek
Distance: Allow 30 minutes minimum from downtown. From I-10 going west, exit Loop 1604, then go west 3 miles to the Kyle Seale Pkwy. Turn right and drive 2 miles to the course. Watch real close for signs to clubhouse, which is on the left side of road up a long paved road.

4.5 stars
Always enjoy playing this course. This course challenges every part of the game. Great layout with lots of character. Fairways in great conditions. Only have it 4.5 stars cause greens could use some maintenance. Have played many times and it's always the greens that keep this course from being 5 stars.
Terrific municipal course at a great price
Cedar Creek is just another example of what makes San Antonio's municipal golf scene one of the best in the country. If you didn't know it, you would just think it's a pretty good high-end daily fee course. Good design by Fineger, Dye & Spann (softened a few years ago), great views and generally in pretty good condition. Best of all, green fees are half of what they are at similar courses. Great view on the 10th tee, by the way.
Fun challenging course
Fun challenging course. Great savings thru golf now app.
Awesome track!
Great price through rolling valley next door to La Contera, but nowhere near the price!
Great views
The course was in good shape and has scenic views. I enjoyed the challenging tee shots.
Really Fun track
Really scenic course and a fun track but the staff have been pricks both times I played.
Great municipal course
The course is in better shape than I expected--much better! I had heard if was having problems during the drought. Well, that is no longer the case it that was true! Other than the ground being kind of hard and the sand traps being crusty, the course looks beautiful. The greens are in pretty descent shape. You will love the scenery and enjoy the challenges. The more I think about it, I loved this course.
Just mow the greens
This is not a bad course. It does need some work and if they invested a little money it would pay dividends. The greens are full and thick but extremely slow.....I mean really slow and there seems to be no real reason except they just don't chose not to cut them.
You will find some elevation changes and different shape holes that require different shots from tee boxes and fairways.
JUST MOW THE GREENS.....
Adequate Value & Condition
The course usually plays very slow on the weekends, as it did this past Saturday. The fairways were in good condition, but the greens were very rough...they had been aerated recently. The problem is, it seems like no matter when you play there, the greens have just been aerated. We'll go back, because it's conveniently close, but there are better options if you're willing drive 45 mins.
Slow pace, but course was fun to play
Overall, the course was in good condition and fun to play. Slow play, but that is standard for the course.
This course great for mid handicaps
We played this course on a golf buddy trip. It was challenging but if you can place your drives you can have a great day and above average greens in regulation. But suggest you play the right tees for your game to avoid a long day.
Hilly and fun
A very nice course. Good value for the cost. Slow , big greens. Somewhat narrow (because of the slopes) fairways.
Great Hill Country Course
Very challenging course, but not unfair. Course is in great shape.
Challenging course that is well maintained
Cedar Creek was a challenging and fun course to play. On the front nine, I found myself teeing off on the majority of the par 4's with a 4 or 5 iron. Several of the pars fours are shorter, however most of the fairways were either sloping right or left, narrowing, or dog legging making the tee shot selection very important.
The back nine opened up somewhat and I was able to use my driver on most of the holes. The tee shot on 10 is elevated, and I mean up there making it a fun hole to play. Being in a valley, the swirling wind certainly added some challenge on many of the holes as well.
Overall this course was certainly worth the money and the greens were as well maintained and I'd expect given the drought situation in SA. My only complaint with the greens was that they were a tad slow and grainy, which certainly is frustrating when trying to play the break.
Beautiful layout and fair test of golf
This is a course really worth playing. It is a fair test of golf and especially putting. Very large greens and large breaks makes it a real challenge. Course is currently undergoing some repair work and we played to one temporary green.
I plan to play this course again as it is one of the nicest public courses in the area and Golfnow.com offers some real deals.
Under work
Staff did not tell us that they are working on the greens and that they have 4 temp greens in the fairway fronting the greens. wish they had told me.
Great Muny Golf!!
Cedar Creek is one of my favorite courses in SA, and with the help of GolfNow it becomes pretty afforadable. The course was playing pretty tough but i loved the challenge.
Tight course but gorgeous!
Fairways were nothing short of perfect. Greens were nice but very inconsistent.
Staff gave us a little trouble and wasn't very nice.
For the cost, a nice course.
This was the first time I played this course in under 5 hours. Easter kept all the slow golfers at home.
