DO NOT PLAY
The worst kept golf course I have ever come across. The greens look like they haven’t been tended to in months. The fairways cut patchy. If you find the rough you may aswell drop a new ball as impossible to find. Will never play this dog track again.
Rough as…
Very poorly maintained. Basic maintenance is not carried out. Long grass on the fairway, where it is cut, cuttings are left on the fairway, balls easily lost on fairways. Approach areas are rough around the fringes, often resulting in lost balls. Bunkers knee deep in rough, often losing a ball literally next to the green.
The greens are extremely patchy and rough.
In its current condition I would not place the course again. .
Terrible course
I played this course on Thursday the 18th of may 2023. On arriving I was spoken to with attitude by the staff around playing as a five ball. The women was condescending and rude.
The course condition was terrible, the greens were rough and bumpy making it impossible to putt with any actual skill.
The grass was poorly cut all around the course making any shots off the fairway a guarantee you’d spend 15 mintues trying to find your ball.
Myself and the group called it a day after the 12th hole due to the terrible condition of the course. Would not recommend and will never be going back.
Poor condition
Greens in poor condition with pitch marks and bare patches. The light rough at the side of fairways and the greens is ridiculously long - it’s obvious this course is receiving very little care and attention
Greens
The greens are genuinely the worst I have ever played on, played on better temporary greens. The rough and fairways need cutting, you shouldnt be losing balls 2 yards off the fairway
Expensive disappointment
We have played this course a number of times, but Sunday was a huge disappointment! The score card was a paper photo copy. The fairways were really over grown and the greens were very patchy and bumpy! We ended up coming off on the 8th hole it was that bad. The 4 ball in front also wouldn’t let us (2 ball) through so it took nearly 3 hours to do 8 holes! Huge disappointment and not worth the money we paid!
Not in good condition lack of investment
Condition of course not good some of which could have been due to weather earlier in the week . But there seems to be a lack of investment and a lack of course management .
Overgrown and waterlogged
Played this course on more than one occasion over the years. But hands down say this is the worst I have ever seen. Looks like it’s shutting down club house was empty practice green is Astroturf it looks like someone has nicked the grass cutter as it’s really overgrown and hard to tell the fairways from the rough. The greens are possibly the worst I have played on for some time very disappointing
Gone downhill
Just played this course today, I play occasionally here a couple of times a year if that, previous reviews are right. Starts with the awful drive down to the clubhouse full of potholes. Course complete mud bath, waterlogged fairways and greens, greens look like there dying. Lost balls in fairway, presumably buried. Should have been closed.
DO NOT PLAY THIS SHAMBLES OF A COURSE!!
Played here in a society, the greens are an absolute joke, all bunkers were unplayable, Was told afterwards they don’t have green keepers. The owner apparently went out that morning with a bog standard lawn mower and cut a few tee boxes and greens just for our society. The layout gives it big potential however this course just needs to close and become a nature park.
Grange
Course condition was generally poor but the greens were terrible! Not worth paying £10 and feel completely ripped off at £25
The course has the potential to be a good course but very run down. not in great condition. Pro shop empty,Bar empty. Could be 100% better
Really Really Poor Greens
If you like your greens to resemble the surface of the moon then have a go on this course. Playing in January, I wasn't expecting miracles but the greens were genuinely the worst I've experienced. I've actually played on better winter greens. Played here in spring and summer and the course was in decent condition. Not sure how them greens will recover for this season.
Awful
Save your money, or play elsewhere.
The course is on its last legs, greens were dreadful.
Its unlike any other course I’ve played in winter, the course should have been closed on the day we played given its condition.
Played last year in the summer and wasn’t too bad the layout is good and has potential to be a great course.
Avoid!!!!
Firstly I wish I could leave zero stars for the golf course!
Secondly this has got to be the worst golf course I have ever played having played 150+ golf courses around the country! I seriously can’t believe they can even charge for the atrocity that they call a golf course. We should really have known when there were 3 other cars in the car park when we arrived on a Sunday Afternoon and it being 27 degrees!
The drive in looks like the Russian Army have been using it for target practice. Some errant missiles must have hit the greens too.
The rough is, I would say deep but I don’t think that does it justice for how deep it actually is, and I’m not talking 30 yards off the fairway I’m talking around green side bunkers and within 3 feet of the green. I really wish I’d have taken photos!
It was never the best course in the area but wasn’t bad for a knock and a leisurely round with mates. What’s happened??
New management needed or a bulldozer?
Diabolical condition
How the mighty has fallen. This used to be a great course back in day, now it's unrecognisable!
Even before you play golf, the driveway rattles you all over with the potholes then on the course the tee boxes are that hard you can't get a tee in, fairways are full of grass cuttings, rough is as high as you're knees and the greens look like cricket wickets.
To have the audacity to charge £22 for this is horrific.
Stay well away folks, disgraceful!
Awful
Sadly, gone a long way down Hill since I last played a few years ago. The course is in a really bad condition and being neglected. It cost £25 to play on a Sunday and another 20 in lost balls. I wouldn’t mind losing balls if I was playing badly, but to be losing balls on a fairway or just off a green is a joke. Will not play again and would advise others not to. There is a reason that this is the only course locally with teetimes available on a weekend morning.
Sorry but felt i had to answer this review. We have five greenstaff The greenstaff had been on and cut the greens and tees with Toro triple mowers. The course is very wet at the moment due to the fact that we have recently been covered in 4 inches of snow and it has done nothing but rain since. It is our policy to remain open for people to play if they wish too. i would say that it is common sense to know that any golf course would be very wet at the moment given the prevailing weather conditions
