Give It A Serve.
Played the course today.. Not the best in terms of the greeting and the treatment by the staff. Arrived to an extremely chaotic pro shop, phone ringing off the hook which appeared to be manned by the cleaner whilst no attention given to players waiting to pay and purchase products. When the young lad eventually turned up, everything seemed too much trouble as he tried to appear too busy to deal with the paying customers.
This ill treatment of the paying customer continued whilst on the course with the green keepers appeared oblivious to giving any priority to golfers, choosing to continue to cut the grass whilst golfer waited to take their shots. Also the damage on large parts of the course have quite clearly been coursed by machinery being used on completely unsuitable ground.
Overall a disappointing visit, need to try harder in pleasing your customers and making their experience a little less stressful.
poor conditions
no sand in bunkers
no first cut off narrow fairways meant most time was spent looking for balls which juse disappeared
greens slow and un receptive
positive was there was not many on
Dismal
We paid £14 to get absolutely drenched and when discovering most of the front 9 greens had been ruined by a dirtbike we decided to call it a day after 12 holes. Being genuine guys we reported the damage to the pro shop to which he replied ‘we know” but still let us wander round in the pouring rain and pay for the pleasure despite 5 greens being completely unplayable. Won’t be going back.
Good Value Interesting course
Good value course with lots of different and interesting holes. Beautiful views of the countryside from most holes. Very friendly staff. Large club house with food and drink. Greens in good condition given the amount of rain recently. Only criticism is that the card doesn't have a map and we struggled to find the 9th tee which is through a wooded area to the right of the 8th green. Also quite a few blind shots which means playing the course again would be easier. Definitely worth a visit.
Grange park golf course
Weather was fantastic and so was the golf. having played the course last year I can certainly state that the greens and bunkers have improved. Fairways are in a great condition and overall its in really good condition. Excellent value for money.
Worth a round
Good course challenging on most holes I've played the course a lot and still go back it's kept well too :)
Great Course!
Played the course with a friend and found it to have a good balance of challenge and ease of use. It was suggested that the greens were the only thing that needed settling in as it was early in the season, but you'd get no complaints from me. Definitely would play it again the scenery alone was worth it, great views of the city and surrounding fields. In a word brilliant.
One wet round
I think it was the wrong time of year to play this course, I rang ahead of are tee time just to make sure the course was open and was told it was a lovely title wet after the rain the night before, wow that was an understatement, it was like a swamp in places, we lost balls in the fairway as it was that wet, some parts of the course had look like kids had done donuts on it , an the winter tees, oh dear, hopefully the course is better in the summer when it's dry as there seems to be no drainage. Not a place I'd visit when it's been raining.
Thank you for your further comments, I am now satisfied that any golfer reading them will be able to draw their own conclusions.
Richard,
Many thanks for getting back to me via this medium.
Odd that we were the first players on that day!
Let me begin....... if I were to post pictures you are very much correct that the 3 stated greens were u playable due to damage from said dirt bike and should have been closed if not mod to less adequate temporary measures. However, due to the waterlogging on most of the greens the ball barely moved despite a driver style swing towards the holes. Common sense would have closed the course. Obviously this doesn’t apply at Grange.
Also, while i’m at it we enjoyed the orienteering style golf when finishing a hole and guessing where the next tee was- this helped our mood combined with the pouring rain- usually signage helps with this, hopefully the £28 goes towards helping others around the place.
Finally, the gentlemen in the shop saying “Yes we know bad isn’t it” goes back to my common sense comment.
Cheers.
I am sorry that you chose a poor weather day to play our golf course. the course like most others in the area is built on clay and can hold water especially after prolonged periods of rainfall. With regard to the damage to the greens, there were only 3 greens damaged by the dirt bike, the 5th, 8th and 10th. the 5th had a single wheel track at the front of the green and a single wheel track at the back of the green, the 8th a single wheel track at the back and the 10th a single wheel track at the back. these required only 3 meters of turf to repair, so to say that there were 5 greens ruined is at best a gross exaggeration. We were not aware of the damage until after these customers had started their round, so could not have informed them of the damage before hand. All the damage has now been fully repaired
