Well kept course
A great day out at this great course.
There may be better courses out there but not for the value of money that you get at this course. Greens held up well and thoroughly enjoyable day.
Immaculate course
Extremely well kept course. Fast greens and a relatively easy walk. Need to speed up certain players though as some groups were taking 25 mins a hole
I didn't lose a ball
Which is quite an achievement for me. Not a difficult course and no holes that really stand out, but a very pleasant place to play and good facilities.
Nice enough course
A really liked the course, the condition of it was great, but the staff and members seemed to have a funny attitude and the pace of play was terrible, we were 4 hours in and gave up on the 13th hole... wouldn't recommend it.
Really friendly staff. Course was in great condition. Will be back.
Great course
Really nice course fanstatic layout with some tricky holes and lots of wildlife first time I've seen a snake
Hidden gem
This course has to be one of the best courses I've played and the price of the round is an absolute bargain! Nice to see a golf course that doesn't over charge depending on the season
Fantastic course
The setting and the course are amazing, it could be the best course around however I found that the course wasn't as in as good a condition as other courses I have played recently, the greens were slow and didn't always run true. the fairways a little bear in places. All that said i really enjoyed my round and would love to play it again.
Gorgeous course
Loved the course. Imagined gentry in the 18th century galloping around on their horses. Greens were excellent. Lovely countryside. Would definitely play again. Staff were really friendly and bacon rolls were 10 out of 10
A quickie
08.30 start so we beat the crowd.
Course was in great condition; although maintenance was being carried out of the greens - but all green staff very happy to allow us to play through.
Course not too difficult, but its fun and plays to its handicap.
Bacon bap before the start was also very good; well worth ordering. Steve
The course was in good condition, the recent dry weather has helped the course which suffers from poor drainage in the winter months, the only boggle was that there was no first cut in the rough, you went straight to 3-4 inch grass.
It's good to see some money has been spent on the course since the new owner took over.
Great value
This coarse is a thing of beauty, really good value, staff and members really helpful.
Can't wait to return.
Thank you for great day.
Fine layout
I have known of Orchardleigh for many years but have never got around to playing there. On an impulse, my wife and I decided to go on a Bank Holiday. The booking was easy and arrangements smooth.
The course itself is set in magnificent parkland and the layout interesting and varied with many challenging holes. The course condition was perfectly acceptable but the greens were showing signs of recovery from winter Fusarium. They putted well however and were consistent. The only gripe was a very slow 4 ball two games in front of us.
Lovely afternoon being thrashed by one's wife at golf!
Good value
Played on a Saturday, so expected costs to be much higher. Play was relatively slow due to busy day. But still very enjoyable.
Greens need attention. Lovely course and friendly staff
Brilliant value for money
Great day out apart from slow 3 ball and 4 ball in front of us that had to have a discussion on the green after each hole and spend a lot of time looking for lost balls!
well presented course
we have played a few times at orchardleigh and each time gets better, well looked after course nicely presented, easy to walk, the semi rough was just right.
the greens are well maintained making a good pace enjoyable course to play.
staff in clubhouse very pleasant, only one fault on one day was some drunken men in works clothes getting a bit noisy, not good for such a well presented club ?
otherwise superb value,great course
Lovely members, great course
I live nearby and play the course semi-regularly.
I'm a novice golfer still chasing my first sub-100 round here (carded 99 at Royal Ascot once) and began my round solo but caught up with a regular playing pair (Sonia & Colin) playing ahead of me by hole 4. They invited me to join and were utterly lovely for the round. My game improved and with their support and company I shot 49 coming.
The course itself is in very good condition considering, although the temporary tees are not the easiest to drive a tee into. From a layout point of view there is a slight lack of variety from a hazard standpoint.
Overall though I'm a huge fan of the course and my round yesterday with the accommodating members Colin & Sonia was delightful.
Still a great course even when it's wet
Managed to find a day that it wasn't due to rain so we went along to see what it was like. We had played the course in the summer and loved it. We were told I advance where we could take our trolleys and where we couldn't, so set off togged up in wet weather gear. The course was petty soggy in a lot of aces, but hey, what do you expect when it's been raining pretty much persistently for 7 days. The greens were okay and weren't holding the water and the fairways were good. Plenty of standing water between holes, but as it was walking areas only, you just avoided it. Played off mats on a couple of holes, but that was okay too. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised that the course was as good as it was considering the weather conditions. We only layer 9 holes as the weathe got bad again, so I couldn't comment on the back nine, however if I wasn't a betting person I would say it would have been as good as the front nine.
This is a well looked after and course that is clearly loved by the members and ground crew. We love it and will go back again when the weather eventually gets better. I would highly recommend it if you are a person who likes a challenge, loves a parkland course. It is beautiful and enjoyable course and one of the best in the area.
