Rufford
Great course for all, would always recommend this course.
Great layout
Course looking tired obviously been played to much over winter requires some sun and rain and maintenance to get back to how it used to be
Had a great day. The only criticism of the whole day was the price of the beer! I realise times have been hard recently, but£4.10 for Tetley smooth takes some explaining. why not have the real ale pump working. I'd pay £4.10 for that
Played as a one ball joined up with another one ball he was a member same handicap as myself very good round enjoyed it course was in good nick Green were OK for this time of year
Open fairways, good condition, 1 temp green only.
Considering other courses had closed this remained open and drained well for early February in significant rain.
The course does periodically uses temporary greens. This is a frustrating necessity - maintaining good green conditions all year round.
The course is not too hilly and is a pleasure to walk around. The trees are not overly punishing and for a mid handicapper. There are lots of opportunities to hit driver (even if a little wayward) and a good score can be obtained in most conditions.
The course was fantastic the only thing that let it down was I hired a motorcaddy and the battery hadn't been charged enough and died on the 11h hole after getting in touch with the reception they did bring a new batery out but should never have had to happen and I'd pushed the trolley with no power for 2 holes by that point. Other than that friendly staff considering the rain we had the day before the course didn't even look like it had had any and had drained great. Was a pleasure to play
Winter tee time
Booked on golf now as staying at centre parcs so is nice and close (5 mins ) drive played rufford many times before great course and would recommend
Little diamond
Just bang on and I mean bang on say no more what a course
Great venue and course
Cracking facilities and course. Best greens I’ve played on recently.
Substantial amount of rain the day before and morning but played very well considering
As said in title it had rained all day Sunday, til 8/9am Monday morning. But course was in brilliant condition considering, greens ran well, fairways were sound.
Only flaw with this course in my opinion is the bunkers, wrong type of sand and lack of it.
Other than that highly recommend to golfers of any level.
Absolutely disgusted with the course....
Played with a friend today, I've played Rufford a few times, this was his first time after I recommended it to him. The lasting impression of the day was how awful the course was. I understand the weather has been wet and the course needs protecting, but what passed for 'winter greens' were abysmal. The tee boxes were muddy, the fairways were barely playable and the greens were impossible to putt on. We weren't told about the state of the course and only found out about the winter greens when we checked in at the pro shop. Also we found out then that all the bunkers were GUR! I cannot see how Rufford can justify charging the normal price for a shambles of a course. At the minute I dont feel like ever going back again.
Do not play in winter
Very disappointed today. We ( a four ball) had no prior notification but all greens were on winter (ploughed fields) greens. Holes severely shortened. Many tees also on winter tees.
So slow
This course is great however I couldn't help but lose interest by how slow it was. I just wanted to leave. It was by far the slowest course I've played this year. Such a nice course spoilt by a long train of people taking the absolute micky. Such a shame.
