Good course for price
Paid 25$ to walk and must say money well spent. It's a flat open course with good greens. Great for beginning golfers.
OK, I guess
It was not great, but I would play it again. The course is playing 70 (I think), but it didn't even feel that high. Miserable piece of flat land, few trees, the water went out with the remodel, It's golf, It's a muni. pace of play was surprisingly good for a muni on theweekend.
Over all great course
Have nothing to complain about. The course doesn't offers many difficulties. Grounds are kept in a good shape overall and I would play this course over and over
Surprisingly decent place to play
After reading the bad reviews before playing there I was afraid I will be disappointed but I could not resist the $26 with a cart offer from Golfnow. Boy, was I surprise cause the place was decent considering the place is under renovation. I honestly had a good time and so did my partner.
Nice and wide fairways. I didn't lose any balls.
The course is scheduled for closure in a couple of months and will be completely renovated. Consequently conditions are not the greatest but adequate. It will undoubtedly be better after the renovation work is done a couple years from now.
play only for practice,under contruction
course is under contruction and fairways are patchy with alot of bare spots.several temporary greens are in play. i got there around 10 with tee box wide open thought wow going to be a nice day on the course. wrong, great drive down middle on the right side ball is on large bare spot. ok par 5 no big deal, proceed to play and notice fairways are not mowed evenly. thinking greens crew overslept and or just flew in from colorado. seriously, again, play only if you want some practice, otherwise, forget about it.
Palo Alto muni (temporary course) par 67
This course will close April 2014. They have done a fine job of rerouting till closure. Many holes affected by wind. But you get relief on the back nine with a couple reachable par 4s and a short par three. Go now before they raise fees to recoup renovation costs.
Enjoyed Palo Alto GC
On a rainy sunday afternoon, we played Palo Alto GC in three hours. The Golf course is in renovation yielding to some funny 250yard par 4. Except of that, the layout is great and we were positively surprised by the quality of the greens! Looking forward to playing at the end of the renovation!
This course is walkable and decent hole layout
Played on Friday noon and was able to finished the round in 4hrs, the fairway have decent grass but a little on the wet side , some sand trap need more sand and probably need to redirect some of the sprinkler head so as not to water log the sand traps.
the putting green are medium not too fast but not slow either. overall it's a decent playable course and the staff are very easy going and the marshals don't bother you much. They just let you play as long as you're not holding up the group behind you.
Not as bad as you'd think...
Looking at all these reviews on here I didn't know what to expect. It's pretty well maintained considering how many geese and it's right near the bay. We went the day after it rained and remarkably there was very little mud and no puddles. I will say it was pretty freaking cold and the wind was really high being right on the bay.
I would say it's well worth the price. Lots of straightaways not much elevation change.
In need of renovation...
I realize that this course is going to undergo renovations early in 2014, but in my humble opinion they shouldn't even call what they have a golf course and should stop play. The holes are so clearly patched together after having removed a few holes for renovation that it reduces the tips to ~5500 yards. The 12th hole is laughable where you are hitting from a makeshift tee box to a completely blind green.
For $40, it's hard to find an 18 hole course on a weekend, but I still would rather spend a few bucks more to have a legitimate 18.
Just my opinion...try it out for yourself!
Excellent service and had a great round.
The staff was very accomodating and the course was maintained even with the renovation.
Needs some attention
Nice, flat course with plenty to offer for the novice golfer. The main issue is the quality of the tee boxes and fairways, which are bare in places probably due to poor irrigation. The greens themselves are in good condition and ran very true.
Whilst the course is undergoing it's renovation I will stay away, but may be back when the work is complete to check it out.
Shortened course is just fine for the money
While the course is shorter and the condition isn't ideal, you can't beat the price during hot deals. I'll be going back.
This course is good.
This course is good for price. The condition of fairway & green is passable.
Goose chasing dogs were fun to watch
This is a flat course with no water hazards.
Lots of geese on the course.
They use 2 dogs to chase the geese away which helps control the problems of geese.
Quite a good selection of food with good price at the grill.
.
Better than expected
The removal of a couple of holes from the back nine did not ruin the flow of the course. Most of the course is the same, just rerouted and a little shorter. Overall still a decent course for the money.
This course is under huge reconstruction
This course is under tremendous reconstruction and all the signs are temporary and some of signs are missing. My Garmin GPS has no use at all since every hole has been rearranged. Cart path are muddy. I booked 4-some and paid 4-some although one of my friend can not make it the club house still arrange additional player to be in our group and charge that player full price. We are expecting to play as 3-some although we had paid 4-some, but that is not the case there.
Pre-renovation deal is great.
The course had some nice bay views and it was cool being next to the Palo Alto airport.
Too expensive for the course conditions
It's discounted now due to upcoming 2014 construction. I knew that going in. But there were many ways in which the course still didn't live up to the ~$40 cost. The greens and tees were in terrible condition. They didn't advertise that lots of holes were split in two. There are just tons of better courses around to play for $40. Tilden, Chabot, Dublin Ranch,... I think I'd rather play Deep Cliffs at half the price. Especially given all the half-holes really diminish the distance. Can't wait for the remodel, but even then I'm not sure about the cost to fun ratio.
