Cedar Lake is a great value!!
Being so close to home and the price makes this a great choice for me. Less than 5 miles to the course! The course is somewhat of a shotmakers course. You just cannot hit driver off every tee box.
Fun course for the money
Good condition for this time of year. Ownership continue to work on course.
Excellent course for a relaxing day.
I found the course in excellent condition. The greens were just right; not to fast or slow. It had the right amount of challenge with difficulty enough to bring out the need to use ingenuity one some parts of the course. Played on a beautiful day so that course could be appreciated. the atmosphere built into the course was pleasant, comfortable so as not to get the feeling of being rushed.
Friendliest Staff around!
I have only been golfing for a year, so my comments on how challenging the course are are to be taken with a grain of salt- they're all challenging to me.
I can comment on the staff with authority, though. The first time I played by myself was at Cedar Lake. I think the lady in the clubhouse walked me out to show me where the driving range is and explained where I can take the cart, etc. Very friendly even though I was using the really cheap deal from GolfNow.
The course is well maintained and has a good combination of forgiving and challenging holes. It is fairly hilly and has interesting geography (large outcroppings of granite).
I enjoy this course- great value.
Sometimes great, sometimes awful
I play here regularly but lately, the lack of active marshals means you can't get a round in under 5 hours on a weekend or holiday. A normal round here should take 3 or less. Today, a 12:48 time didn't get us on until 1:30 and we had to quit after 15 because of dark. Duffers hitting 3+ balls per hole was the main problem. There is never a tee marshal on 1. They need one to do decent pairings and to keep the play consistently spaced. You'll often see a cart with a marshal flag but these guys just ride around. They don't do anything for the pace of play...so maybe their just there to report violators of the 90º rule. It's time for this course to admit the fact that they have the quantity of business that demands better time management and then get some in place. BTW...I would recommend NOT booking tee times online before you've called the course to find out what sort of volume they have or expect. I know I won't again.
Excellent
I enjoyed my round lof golf. The course was in excellent shape and the staff was great. One of the best in the area.
Greens are spongy and way too slow.
I have played here many times. Fun layout with three par fives on the backside, making this a par 73. However, the greens are very spongy and ridiculously slow. This makes playiing here not as much fun as it could be.I usually play here when there are no other good deals in the area.
.
Very friendly and accommodating staff, great bargains available, challenging enough to make it fun and keep you coming back to improve your game
The greens were inconsistant
For the average golfer this course is very challenging. Several holes are uphill and are hard to reach in regulation. I thought that some of the greens were inconsistent in putting speed and also had too many hills and valleys that made it difficult to read a putt
This course is very friendly. Fairways and greens are excellent.
I really had a good experience. You cannot beat this course for the money. A great value. Friendly staff and the course has some real challenges. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Near the bottom
I arrived 1/2 hour before my tee time to be informed that starting was approximately 1 hour delayed and a 5 hour round should be expected. There was a group starting on number 12 and I was offered the option of starting with them which I chose over a 1.5 hour wait. Despite no warm-up we played the first few holes at a reasonable pace. Upon arriving at the 1st tee, we discovered that several groups had been started on #1 since we started on #12. The pace of play for the next 9 holes required nearly 3 hours to complete. The mess was caused by a poorly managed private event. The staff was polite, but did little to manage the situation in a way that would encourage a return visit. The course is minimally maintained, but playable.
greens are very slow
Front nine is very open and good for beginning golfer. The back nine is considerably more difficult and very scenic with numerous rocky surrounds. The greens Putt about three times slower than average greens and require a firm stroke.
Cedar Lake review
I like Cedar Lake...it's front nine is wide open and plays well for a beginner or struggling golfer. The back nine is a bit more challenging but still plays relatively easy. The course is usually in good condition, the greens a re normally speedier than this past week. They have a driving range, chipping area, and a large practice putting green. The staff is always friendly, as is the price. I would recommend to all golfers, particularly the newbies.
A good course off the beaten path
Cedar Lake golf course is an outstanding golf course off the beaten path. What makes the course so outstanding is not only the fact that the course is good, but the outstanding prices and service you experience while there. I highly recommend this course to anyone!
Perfectly suitable home course
This is an easy review because I play this course almost weekly and this is also my practice facility. I'm back in the game having last played with purpose about 20 years ago. I shoot in the 90's now.
Cedar Lake is a contrast of challenges. The front nine is more wide open and a bit more hilly than the back nine. The back is narrower, and has more hazards. The prevailing wisdom is that the back nine is more difficult. My personal experience is that I score better on the back for some reason. I often enjoy the front nine for a quick round when the schedule is tight. The play is relaxed but courteous and it's all monitored by the Marshalls.
Too good to be true.
It was the best course for the money. Great staff, Would compare very favorably with most private courses and definately will return wit friends.
Great value for your money
Nice course that is great value for your money. Perfect for the average and beginning golfer and offers some challenges to the more experienced golfers as well.
I love the layout and how wide open the course is.
Nice course, but it is too costly after 12pm and past 4pm.
The price should be a little cheaper during the later part of the day.
Great place
Went here with 3 buddies of mine, 2 of which have not played in years. We all had a great time, the course was very challenging but forgiving enough that my friends that were rusty still had a lot of fun. I would recommend coming up short of greens rather than crush the ball with a long iron if you have the option. A lot of the greens have huge drop-offs on the other sides and are pretty fast so play it safe.
There was a line to tee off but the staff gave us two buckets of balls to hit the range with to kill some time (free of charge). Lunch at the turn was cheap as well, cheapest clubhouse food I have come across (very filling though). I will definitely be going back, this is a great place!
