Diversity of Holes
Course was in great shape and other than the first few holes where the fairways are a bit too close to players hitting in the opposite direction, I really like the diversity of holes. From uphills to downhills, doglegs to crossing water, the course offers a nice challenge to players at all skill levels.
Good value
Getting this deal for under the "Hot Deal" promotion was a great find. For under $50/person, the course was in great shape. Greens were a touch slower than I would like but they rolled great. Pace was slow but to be expected with one of the few good public courses in the North Shore. Overall, good visit.
Challenging course with many parallel tight fairways
We played as a foursome on a very busy Saturday morning and still managed a 4 1/2 hour round. Everyone was very friendly from the girl that took our payment to the general manager who even brought us bottled water while we were playing! The fairways were very tight and several of them were parallel to the next hole. I saw many players on several holes hit their balls in the fairways we were in. The course was in great shape and I would recommend this course. Just watch out for flying golf balls!
Cousrse was in great condition
Great Course course a great price. I would definately recomend this cousre. The back tees are 6600 yrds but it is very challenging.
Other than slow greens it is a great place to play
The course is in great shape other than slow greens. I was supposed to be matched up with 3 others but wound up as a single between 2 novice groups and had to play to catch up with another twosome after waiting on every shot for the first few holes
Slow and Tight
I used to play this course years ago (mid-90's) three times per week. There have been some improvements since the last time I played. The course is now very tight and I almost got hit by a golf ball twice...scary! The play was slow and the staff was not helpful. The greens and fairways were great. Probably wouldn't play again though. Priced too high and there are much better courses at this price level.
Good experience
Greens are terrific and the pro and employees very helpful. Course layout has two or three spots with parallel fairways which presents some problems, but overall, I love playing there and it is a good challenging golf course.
Greens and fairways in great shape
Greens and fairways in great shape despite recent rains. Course well groomed. Pin and Tee placements were reasonable and challenging.
Solid little track
I enjoyed my early morning weekend round here. Short, fun, in good shape. Some odd tee box placements, but overall a nice golf course. Nothing that would knock your socks off, but I would play again sometime.
December golf
Not bad for the first day of December. Course condition OK (no ball washers / water / restrooms.) Golf carts are ancient, rickety, creaky, and slow; I was surprised mine made it through 18 holes! Pin placement chart was present on the cart, but the pins had no consistent placements. No starter to explain layout and course management strategy. What can one expect for out-of-season play?
One of the best among many outstanding north shore courses
HPCC is a great track, relatively long and narrow, with every hole, even short par fours, a different challenge that require all types of shots. Greens are great. If I can play only one public course in northern suburbs, this is my choice, just edging Thunderhawk!
A gem on the NorthShore
Nice pictureesque old style course. Tight with lots of mature trees. Always in good shape. Tends to be a little pricey especially on the weekends. Staff is helpful and courteous.
Excellent course
Great course, fast play. Well maintained greens and fairways, pretty challenging course.
Great course, better value
Highland Park is a player's delight. While the tips are not US Open long, the course requires every shot in the bag. The greens are kept in great shape and GolfNow has great deals at all times of the day and week. I like to play Highland Park to get a true test of where my game is and what I need to work on. Friendly staff and it's a true hidden gem.
