Mission Hills Club
About
Mission Hills Country Club in Northbrook opened in 1926 and over the years it has become a local favorite. The championship golf course measures to 2,897 yards from the back tees. Although it may seem relatively short by modern standards, the layout is spread across more than 130 acres of rolling woodlands that provide a spacious feel. Mature trees tightly line the fairways and there are several holes where water comes into play. This seemingly mild golf course is tougher than it first appears. It will test both your accuracy and course-management skills. Mission Hills Country Club's finishing hole is a demanding par 4 that features the most difficult green to putt with a lake to the left and sand bunkers all along the right. You'll want to keep your approach below the hole when you attempt to tackle the green.

Miss molly
Course is not in good condition, greens a very hard and can't hold a shot. Fairways not watered enough. The day I played it was 92 degrees and I brought my own water but a rude employee told me that I couldn't do that even though they don't provide any water on the course. Don't waist your money on course that was once "private" and now is trying to survive.
Nice Course
Not a long course but challenging. Good placement of bunkers and some water hazards that sneak up on you. Many of the holes are lined with trees. Really good value for a weekend greens fee in the suburbs, i would go back and recommend playing there. Watch out for some of the yardage is wrong on the score sheets and tees but they do have markers on the course.
Tight course
You better bring your straight shot for this course. Not long, but trouble on every hole, either left or right. There are a couple of blind shots where you don't know there's water.
I'm glad I only paid $25 though, don't really think it's worth the normal price they charge.
Decent for the $
This course, I understand, was sold last year and opened to the public. Very pretty course, narrow... And can punish you with an errant shot. Greens are slow and can be difficult to judge the putts.
The worst part of the experience was no water in the containers throughout the course, no concessions person and no starter or ranger.
All things aside, for the money, 25 bucks thru Golf Now, I will definitely come back. Shot 84! Best in while.
Old outdated CC
Just an average course with 80's style. Too bad. Course is okay. I would look elsewhere if your budget is 50.00.
Fun course
Played Saturday morning at 8am. Our group moved through the course at a great pace. Greens in good shape,. Enjoyed our round will come back and play again.
Poor Amenities at Average Course
This is a golf course that is not particularly well maintained. We played on a hot humid Friday. There was no beverage cart and the only water station we saw did not have a water cooler. The only bathroom facilities were in the clubhouse at the turn and they were disgusting. Two of the toilets were out of order and only one of the three sinks was working. This course seems to want to trade on its cachet as a one time members only club, but to me, the nearby park district courses are far more pleasant to play.
good local course
fine conditioned course, good variety of hole layouts
Short
The course and greens were in good shape. The course is very short, 5800 from the mens tees. A lot of two someday in front that took time fishing for balls and taking practice swings. 2:30 hours per side was really slow for a weekday mid morning.
Nice Great on a Great Day.
The course is fairly short, but I managed to find enough difficulty with some of the narrow fairways / holes. If you are a longer hitter you will have to play iron off the tee on a few holes.
Greens were a little slow (long grass and was wet). Their is only 1 beverage cart, so plan on grabbing drinks at the turn.. Didn't see the beverage cart between 4 and 17.
Tight
The course is in great condition. Greens are soft, fast. Short course overall, very narrow and tight. Not a lot of room in between Fairways. You really need to hit them straight. Tee boxes are located very close to other greens too.
Disappointment
Bringing my two sons out on Father's Day and one's 20th Birthday seemed like the thing to do. Once we got to the course (our first time here) we were tremendously disappointed in the fact that, a) no breakfast would be available until 8:00, b) extremely limited retail merchandise in the 'pro' shop, c) the 'locker room' was disgusting in its disheveled appearance and foul odors--I wouldn't change my shoes in there let alone consider showering. The course conditions were not good--tee boxes were all beaten up and the greens were largely covered with ant hills. Drink cart came around once and none of the water chillers had water coolers in them. Not likely to come back here.
Check it out!
The tees, fairways, and greens were in great shape. Due to the short yardage it's excellent to work on your short game.
Previous reviews noted that the sandtraps were in poor condition. I'd agree with that, however, that was literally being addressed by the owner and groundskeepers while we golfed. They were working on a sand trap and the owner introduced himself and said he was working on the bunkers. Overall, it was a great course and I look forward to playing it again.
Very Narrow
Course was ok not Great lot of dead trees out there
course is in pretty good shape would not play it again
Greens Exceptional and Pace Great
The course is in great shape. I was extremely surprised how well the greens were especially since all other courses I've played this year are horrible. In addition, a considerable amount of changes has/are occurring since last year with new ownership; more time between golfers/faster pace (a much needed improvement), new signs, food vender (hot dogs are excellent), current renovation on bathrooms/locker rooms etc. Recommendation, bring insect spray. The mosquitos were vicious.
Great condition
The overall condition of the fairways and greens were outstanding. Pace of play was okay for a Thursday morning golf round. The course is very very tight but playable. The distance between some of the greens and the next tee is a little cumbersome at best. You are almost required to take a golf cart walking this course might be a little more than you expected.
Very good experience
I felt like I was plaing in the real country club. I played it twice this week, and I completed my rounds in les than four hours. The course was in nearly perfect condition. Stuff was really friendly, especially outside guys! I will definitely go again, and I'm highly recommending this course to everyone! Eddie
Nice course, but with some limitations
Mission Hills is an overall nice course, but there are some major limitations that prevent it from being put on the normal rotation of courses that I would play. First, the clubhouse is abysmal. It's something from the 1950's. It also smells like mold. The course itself is really in good condition, nice fairways and greens. Bunkers have dirt, no real sand here. Bad clubhouse and no sand in the bunkers can be changed, but one thing that can't is that the course is landlocked. You can tell they tried to squeeze an 18 hole course into a small space. So all of the holes are narrow, very tight course. Also feels claustrophobic with the many apartments/condos lining the course. They did the best they could, but just not a great piece of land for a golf course. Also, too long on some holes to get to the next tee. You have to drive down a couple of alleys to get to the next hole. Nice practice course for irons, no driver here save a few holes. For $25, would play it, but not worth the $45 we paid on Sunday AM.
Great course. Great value. Ideal.
Played a very enoyable round on a crowded Sunday afternoon. Pace of play was a little slow but that's what you expect when you play at noon on a beautiful Sunday. Everyone kept pace with the group ahead of them and the owner of the golf course even came out to introduce himself and personally apologize for the slow pace. It was a very nice gesture considering we weren't even complaining and were just enjoying our round. I will definitely be back here in the future.
