Fun Course
The course and greens in good condition. A longer track, but no bunkers so a good challenge.
Pace of play was okay
Rain everywhere else but not this course. Finally, decent pace of play. Lots of acorns in some spots. Lots of leaves falling but just as likely to help as hurt.
Slow!
No starter, no ranger, so 3 hours for 9! Otherwise it was fine. Only other problem was acorns in some spots. But, come on, pace of play means no second round.
Great course even better staff awesome day.
Great course Scott was extremely helpful explaining the course prior to our round. Bought a hat at the clubhouse that was a bit dusty from sitting and Scott took the time to clean it up before cutting the tags for me and set us up with a good group as We walked the first 9 and Scott informed us we could play again anytime on the same day for 12 bucks and this time the cart was included. Our tee time was 930 took us almost 3 hours to walk through. Very nice course forgiving wide open fairways. No sand and minimal water max the course very fun to play for beginners. Greens were a tad bit slow but well kept. Went home ate took a nap called in and spoke to Steve who said come on in got there at 4 and got a cart and starter Bruce paired me up with a great younger group and had a awesome round that finished right at sundown. Couldn’t ask for a better day of golf at this course. Would come back in a heartbeat
Nice long nine hole course
Meadowlark is the longest nine hole course in Illinois at y 3,402 yards from the back tees .
Greens are true just slow need to be rolled
Course is long with both par 3’s over 200 yards the two par5’s are challenging number 2 at 460 with a slight dog leg left the other number 6 is a beast at 573. This is not your normal nine hole course.
The price I paid was good.
The only negative was the pace of play. It too long for most older or newer golfers so the really need to play the red tees here.
It was over two hours twenty min two slow
For me waiting every hole.
So nice course not
Fancy but pick an off peak time to visit or you will play slow lots of slow walkers
Best value 9 holes in Illinois
This is one of the best values 9 holes course in Illinois
Terribly Slow
My team time was at 3:20. I was asked by the starter to give my spot to a friend's buddy. I did. It took 20 minutes behind each group to tee off. Some golfers at the tee were taking 5 shots. Come on. Take a mulligan and then move on. I was 3rd group and then was scheduled to tee off at 4PM. Sunset is before 7. I walked off the course.
It's still needs improvements.
Proximity to my house is a plus. It always seems to have available tee times. The course still needs to be kept up.
I pay for better and seem to be disappointed when I play there.
Worst course in Chicago
It starts with one of the worst and angriest starters in my 30 years of playing golf. Talked about him inside the pro shop to the nice gentleman working and he said that is how he is. Pace of play was terrible. Whole holes wide open but backed up on every hole. Course conditions are that of a public park. Would NEVER play here again. Could be nice if kept up and staff experience not so poor. Manager was nice and offered round of drinks or free round of golf but wouldn’t play it again for free.
Course operator here, thanks for writing about your experience. We pride ourselves on excellent service - we have an internal training and standards program we call ACE - and it sounds like we may not have lived up to our training here. We do have age policies for cart users, and we will do a better job of stating those clearly prior to checkout. We appreciate that you came to play, and we welcome you back - our offer of a complimentary round still stands. Please reach out to us directly at info.meadowlark@forestpreservegolf.com if you'd like to take us up on a return play offer.
