Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2022.
Gleneagles County Club is home to two 18-hole golf courses, the Red and White. Opened in 1924, both courses have traditional layouts that have withstood the test of time. The Red Course, also known as the Lakes, is the longer of the two. Water hazards come into play on several holes, including what is considered the club's best par 3. The Red's 16th is a 170-yard hole that plays directly into the wind to an elevated green that is protected in front by a pond. It's a tough green to hit but a relatively easy one to putt. Both Gleneagles golf courses appeal to a wide range of skill levels, which is one reason why the club is known as the "Home of the Shotgun Start," serving as host to hundreds of golf outings every year.

Great value
This course is in great shape. I feel it plays better when they let the ruff grow even though it slows play somewhat. It becomes a better golf challenge . The greens are what protect this course. Traps, as always, less than stellar and need work. I wish the tee boxes were more level. The staff are very friendly, the pace of play good on most days and I feel it’s a walking course built when all golfers walked. The greens fees are fairly priced and to me the course offers value. I’m a member of GMC and been golfing there for twenty years.
Thanks so much for your review! We're so glad you enjoy our staff, and keep coming back after 20 years!
Overpriced and poor condition
Course was not in good shape. Grass needed a fresh cut and the sand traps had no sand, essentially just hard dirt making it impossible to hit out of. MASSIVELY OVERPRICED at $65. I would avoid, many better options in the area

Gleneagles
Poor conditions and extremely slow play. Single golfer behind us kept going back and playing other holes again. At the turn while we got a sandwich he jumped in front. Rude. Won't go back.

Glen Eagles Red
This course is fun to play. The greens are small so the shots approaching it require precision. The signature hall is number 17. If you can play this whole well, you are a golfer.
Thanks so much for the kind words! We really appreciate you coming out to the course and leaving us a review!
One of my favorite courses
I love playing here plus the white course as well.
We're so glad you enjoy playing here! We love having you here.

Outrageous price for a very average course
Golf is like pizza. Even bad golf is usually pretty decent. However, when you pay $65 to play a round of golf, You at least expect the course management to keep the pace of play / tee time organization somewhat respectable.
It was a complete disaster and looked to me like a course trying to create a cash grab on behalf of golfers trying to get in a round with a cart during the lockdown.
Bunkers were like concrete , or filled with water. Greens were decent enough, but laughably small and with outrageous pin placements. (Again not good for pace of play)
All in all, this is probably the worst golf experience I’ve experienced at this price.
If I paid $35, I would probably have nothing to complain about. But this was tough to swallow.
We appreciate you taking the time to review us. First off, we would like to apologize that your round was anything short of the expectations we strive to uphold. We work hard to deliver a great experience to all, and we are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Red at Gleneagles Country Club. We hope to see you again in the future.
Good course for the price
Course is short and not a lot to it but it was worth the money (hot deal price of $35). We’ve been crushed with rain the last week and while the ponds were a bit bigger, one tee box moved up, and some spots were soft and mushy I would say conditions were really good given the harsh circumstances. Greens in nice shape and rolled well. Starter was friendly and we finished a round walking in 3 hours.

Narrow and a little beat up
On the whole I enjoy Gleneagles. Played the red. Problem is it’s just so narrow. The rangers are stern to put it nicest. However they do keep pace moving just think they could be a little nicer. Course was beat up and water logged despit it not raining in over a week. Divot city on every tee box and fairways. Greens were in good shape but fast as lightening. Bunkers were rock hard and cement. Embarrassing that they charge 63 bucks for this on a Sunday but it’s Covid and demand is ok with it. For 40 bucks this would be ok but value isn’t there and the lack of TLC makes this a second rate course. Could be more than it is
