Painted Hills Golf Club

Played this a few times. Overall layout of the course is Excellent and its distance is enough to stretch you from the back but still give you a chance. Fairways and greens are in really good shape but the bunkers could be improved and the rough isn't the greatest (lots of clover) but still managable.

Only real negatives here are the fact that there is NO driving range to warmup, the putting green is a flat 10x10 plot of land, and some of the other groups aren't the best at keeping pace.

Overall it is still a very solid venue for your money.

Course was in rough shape.. Grass needed mowed, Traps need sand and some serious work. Tee boxes full of crab grass. Couldn't buy beer. But on the bright side this could be a really nice course if with just a little work. Was not worth the money compares to other course around.

I enjoyed playing this course. Good course for beginner to intermediate level of golf. Fairways and greens in good condition. Only negative is grass outside of fairway is a bit tall making it very difficult to locate your not so perfect ball. I would play this course again.

All in all an okay course but it didn't seem very well maintained. The greens and fringe were long as if they hadn't been mowed in a while. Spent a lot of time looking for balls that shouldn't have been difficult to find due to poor course conditions.

They have done a ton of work on the course over at Painted Hills. Most of the layouts have been updated and or changed, and the updates are well worth it in my opinion. Many of the greens have been expanded and changed for more breaks, but they are not hard to read.
The course is fairly open, so a shot to the left or right wont ruin your round and overall it is a fun course to play, especially when the pace is almost always round 4 hours.

I always enjoy playing Painted Hills Golf Course. It's location & great highway access allows for a quick & stressfree drive no matter where you're located in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The staff is wonderfully kind & helpful. Always a good playing pace too...

The course was a little backed up in the morning but nothing different than any other course. Our pace of play was pretty hit and miss (we played as a twosome bc our other guys never showed up which always makes pace of play awkward when you are between two other foursomes). At the turn we were able to play through the foursome in front of us and completed our round in about 4.5 hours. Carts are old, bunkers are a little washed out and the tee boxes are a little long but the greens are fantastic, which in my book all that counts! They are a little fast with some interesting break. I hate slow or dead flat greens so I would definitely recommend painted hills for some good variety.

TL:DR course is pretty fun for something different but isn't your most resort like course

A challenging course that makes you think your way around the course. A wonderful facility with a great staff. I will definitely be going back!

I was told prior to playing that the greens had gone a major renovation and the course was in good shape. I was very impressed with the quality of the greens. It is not a super long course but you have to be accurate off the tee. Pace of play was pretty slow for the front 9 but it opened up after that.

Had a 7:30 Tee time on a Saturday and had the privilege of the marshall following us the entire time and stopping us to tell us we were not playing fast enough! So if you feel like being bothered the entire time you play go here. I won't be back !

Good course that's not too long for average golfer

Thank you for a great first experience! We got to play the Back 9 and the great 14th hole. The Marshals were great & patient with our slower play, and encouraging along the way. We will definitely be back! The only thing that I would have liked would have been a driving range.

This course is perfect for those players who are just beginning, to the average player who gets lost in the 6,500 yard courses. From the whites, the course plays around 5,500, making for a much easier day of golf. Open fairways and limited blind shots mean a great, leisurely round of golf. For the more talented player, these greens provide a challenge with many shelves, and lots of fun puts to read. I would definitely recommend this course.

Course is pretty well maintained. Short... Anyone with good length will score well. Greens in good shape. Pace of play a bit slow, but not terrible.

This course is a classic old landmark course in Western Wyandotte County. Ownership has recently remodel the course (2012) and now it is begining to show the improvements. This course is perfect for any level of play. They added several new sandtraps so if you hit from the back tees and think the distance is so short that you will kill this course you will be in trouble with the pin placement and the traps. Play shorter and your skill level still must be on task. I love the new set up it makes you think your way around the course. When you play Painted Hills you don;t just try to hit it as far as possible. You must pick the distance that you want to hit with each shot to give yourself the opportunity to play your next shot. You will love this course.

This was my first time playing this course and I was not disappointed. The course was in very good condition for early November, fairways good albeit a bit tight on some holes and greens were medium pace.
One minor annoyance was a couple of holes where the tee shot has a blind finish and I lost a couple of balls that should have been easily found. Also the group behind drove into us which didn't help, an all clear bell or triangle would make the game safer.
Staff were friendly and helpful with good facilities.
I would recommend a visit and I will certainly be going back.

A fun and challenging course to play. The fairways were plush, the greens were nice and fast, and the management was very nice. I was paired with a nice couple and had a great time.
