Major improvements
Been a couple of years since I played this course. Wow!! They have really made some great changes to the course. Many holes were basic up and down are now scenic and have a little challenge to them. I will be putting Painted Hills on my Top 5 list in KC Metro area.
Well worth the money
This course is short. You can hit driver but in most cases a long iron is better for position in the fairway. The greens were in excellent condition. The course was immaculate tee to green. It's tight, an occasional stray drive from an adjoining fairway is not out of the question. For the money...this course is a bargain any day of the week. The only drawback is that there is no driving range. Hard to warm up properly.
This course is worth it.
Great course for the money. Trimmed fairways, with pristine greens.
Painted Hills
The golf coarse is a great place to play. Enjoyed it so much, played it two days back to back. I recommend playing at painted hills and perhaps becing a member.
The course
The course is good for the money you spend to play there. The only thing I would change is the quality of the greens they were not perfect but definitely not horrible.
Course Review
The course was in pretty good shape and the only issue that I had was the pace of play.
Good course for the price
First time at Painted Hills. The staff, including the marshals were very courteous and considerate. I was thanked after my round for playing there. Nice touch.
The course is somewhat shorter than I usually play, but it is pretty fun. The par 3s are more challenging than most as they are all at least 150 yards or more. The par 5s were long except the last one on hole 12. I like the last 3 holes in particular. 16 and 18 are driveable-to-the-green par 4s with the shortest par 3 on the course at 17. A fun way to wind down your round!
The only gripe I have about the course is that the greens weren't in particularly good condition for this time of the year (especially the front 9). Many dents and dings on them. Others have eluded to the long clovers off the fairway. If you miss the fairway it can be hard to find your ball. Overall, a fun course for the money.
mow
Need to mow the clover down. It was very easy to lose balls if hit into the patches of clover.
Like the new design on many of the greens
If you haven't played here in the past year, you will really like the new greens and some fairways. Once they have a chance to grow in more, this is going to be a great course for the value.
Additional features add to the course
This course is really coming around. The improved layout adds some dimension. New fairway traps and greenside bunkers demand accuracy and shot selection. Its not quite as easy as it once was. Not completely filled in yet, but very playable. Greens are developing nicely
Decent for the value
Staff was friendly and accommodating, our pace of play was good ( afternoon round) but I could see things were somewhat backed up in the groups well ahead of us on the back nine. Course was in need of attention (weeds). Decent place to play a cheep round on a weekend.
Course still needs work
Almost broke an ankle stepping in a hole on 18. Foot
turned and I rolled the ankle. This should never
occur in the middle of the fairway, especially near
the 100 yard marker.
Rough was way too high, and some rough spots were in the middle of some fairways.
Decent course, maybe a little overpriced
Not one of the nicest courses I've played, but Painted Hills doesn't market itself that way anyways. It's a decent course if you don't want to pay $50+ for a Saturday round. Staff was friendly, but pace of play was fairly slow. Had a group in front of us that literally laid down on the green while the others in their group shot around. We waited dumbfounded on the teebox.
The greens were in pretty solid shape and I had fun playing the course.
Rainy Day
Not the best area, however Painted Hills is a hidden gem. Great course for the price.
Fabulous Friday Golf
Love the new layout of the course and appreciate the detailed markers at each hole.
Relaxing day on the course
Though they had a tournament that started about twenty minutes after we did, the round went very quickly. Impressed over all.
excellent greens
Greens were in excellent shape, fairways were good on some holes but not so good on others although it did appear they were working to make them better.
Got hit in the leg by a ball from the group behind us and were hit into 5 other times even though we were having to wait on others to clear the hole. ( not all from the same group )
Painted Hills remix
Course lay out has been changed adding more sand traps, new tee boxes and eliminating many "Eisenhower" trees. Enjoyed playing the new lay out. Looking forward to playing the course again in the near future.
Horrible Staff and Conditions
If you're looking for a cheap, unkept course with a rude and overbearing staff, this is your course. I've played here a handful of times and found that the staff enjoys believing their course is at the same level as an Iron Horse or Prairie Highlands. In reality, it's a public course in terrible condition, where fairways do not exist and players are allowed to wear jeans. Enough said.
Frank B
For being so early in the spring the course wasn't bad at all. Staff was nice, greens were in good shape, and pace was spot on
