A course for weekend average golfers
I found the course to be extremely weekend golfer friendly. The fairways are wide and the greens are receptive, and easy to read.
Good value
I used to play this course once a week back in the late 90's early 2000's. Its not as plush as it was back then, but the layout and the challenge is still there. A few tee boxes were shotty but the course overall was very playable.
Decent Course
The greens/fairways were in great shape, although, one thing that got a bit frustrating were the tee boxes. They were very patchy with a lot of dirt and not much grass to work with. Other than this, the course was in great shape.
one of the harder "neighborhood courses'
While this course has the "panache" of your average neighborhood course, it's actually a pretty-tough course. It's a bit rough in some ways, the path from the #1 green to t he #2 teebox is not well-marked, the fringes are uniformly beat-up and worn-down and so on. But it is a very challenging course with a lot of verticality, some quite narrow tee-shots, some good over-water shots, some really nice holes, a solid challenge. It's a tight "woods" course. With houses respectably-far away, but still quite in view. I can't see anyone playing this course and coming away without some burn-marks who has been playing less than a few years and can't break 100 anywhere. If I was in the mood for a tough course to play that wasn't too expensive, some place where I could really challenge my driver for accuracy and my irons for consistency, this is one of the courses that I'd think of. The one problem with it is that because it is a "neighborhood course" it does tend to get a lot of people who are not really up to it technically, and the pace of play can get pretty slow as they hack and duff their way around the course on their way to a 120 or higher. But it is my idea of a good and tough but fair woods course.
quality course for affordable pricing
my brother and I play here at least 5 times a year. The course is in wonderful condition, the fairway makes PGA tour like divot. Gems a medium speed and allows you to use the breaks. The trees surrounding the course demands you to hit tight shots. Whether you are a beginner or experienced golfer it provides a good challengefor both levels. Need an all around game to play this course. If I loose a ball in the woods, I'll more then likely find someone else ball in the woods to replenish my inventory. Lol. Great food, for loose pricing. Can't wait till the liquor license is required to start serving adult beverages again. Can't wait to play here again
Marlton after a day of rain
Marlton has a hospitable staff and a reasonable and somewhat challenging layout. The back 9 is a little more challenging than the front in my opinion. The downside of playing Marlton is the course is built on land that does not drain well. I recommend playing it under dry conditions but not after a day of rain. You will experience plugged shot and slippery footing on the tee boxes and in the fairways. If you happen to take a chance and play after a day of rain make sure you are wearing spiked, waterproof golf shoes.
Nice course
Nice course, good value and pace of play was about 4 hours. I enjoyed it and will be back
course not bad
Just was upset that on such a cold day they had NO COFFEE or COCO
BUT I do like the course
good course
Marlton is a good course it has some challenging holes 3,4,7,16,17. The bad part of the course is it has bad drainage. Bunkers on some hole in awful condition, but overall fairways and greens are in pretty good condition.
One of the best courses in prince George's county Maryland
Great friendly staff and good course. Staff really maintains the course. I will be making this my regular course of play.
Mixed review
Problem with GolfNow reservation. Arranged round for 3, course notified by GolfNow that the reservation was for 2. Had to pay course price for third player, not "Hot Deal" price.
Overall the course was in good condition. Greens were slow, aeration and sandy.
Spectators on hole 10
Not a good idea to leave your cart unattended!
It's unfortunate because the course was great!
Great value for the money
The greens looked excellent but at times were a little soggy. I really loved the course and will play it again.
The carts were okay.
The restroom was gross and that caused be not to eat food.
9-27-14
The pace of play was extremely slow the entire round. I expected other players to want to finish their round before the sun went down and I was apparently wrong.
Easy loop - great environment
Pleasant and easy-going staff compliment this course. A couple of challenges but nothing too extreme. A good course for a friendly game.
Pretty good shape
Had a great game so the course must be in pretty good condition. Sand traps need attention. Putted well, so the greens are good too.
Great course for all
As a new golfer I was extremely glad to find a course that provided a great learning experience. The holes are challenging and some downright intimidating to a newbie like me, but that is just what I need to learn and improve. Experienced golfers should also enjoy this course. The course demands good golf strategy and pretty good golf shots. It was well maintained for this late in the season. And price was very reasonable for 18 holes at 2 pm on the weekend. I will definitely play it again.
Proving Ground
I always have a great time playing this course. It was the first course I played, that showed me how much I needed to learn, if I was serious about golf. It challenged me, to learn the game. It frustrated me, when I thought I was making gains in my game, but it rewarded me when I realized that I needed to respect what it offers when I didn't over think my shots.. It now shows me how much I've improved. They have great food! It really is a very nice atmosphere! And the staff are top notch!
Marlton 9/11 round review
Good course with nice character. Divot repair by patrons is more necessary. Sand traps are poor. Course is in very good playing condition otherwise.
Marlton was in great condition!
I have played at this course several times but this was the best condition I have ever seen the course in. The greens were great the fairway was plush and the pace of play was excellent! The marshalls were on the job!
