Great golf course

I love playing here, the staff is very friendly, the course is fun and challenging, the layout is great. The only thing is the greens need a lot of work, I know it's the end of the season but the green don't look much different from the summer. Overall I'd 100% recommend playing here

Should be free

The dogwalkers don’t pay, why should the golfers? Tee to green the worst course conditions ever. Terrible layout too if its your first round there. But its like pizza, even a lousy course is still golf.

Golf Course?

The staff were friendly which was appreciated. The course was completely dead—from tee boxes to greens grass was a premium. There was not a single true green to be found. All the greens were a combination of dead, punched, crab grass, and dirt. The “cafe” was closed & there was no water on the course.

Maybe earlier in the season it’s better. Can’t complain for $45 but it was truly bad so do with that what you wish.

Is that the fairway or the rough?

The course requires a lot of guesswork for the first time or occasional visitor, kind of like driving in Boston. There are NO yardage markers except for one red sprinkler head we happened upon on the front nine. The tee boxes don’t have yardage signs, and you can’t trust the scorecard because they’ve moved tee boxes and the different classes of tees over time. Moreover, the fairways look wide but are not. Where the fairway starts and the rough begins is a matter of randomness. I wasn’t sure whether the clover, ruts, or the spotty clumps of grass were fairway. There was nothing that was clearly grass of any variety.
The greens had bare spots and plenty of bumps. They ran slow, but I don’t know if that was a common state. They were a bit mossy, not wet.
Avoid looking for your ball in deep rough; there’s poison ivy in places.
Specific advice: don’t overshoot the green on the 7th. There’s about 10 feet of space before your ball is lost.

A Local Course to Get your Swings In

Possibly the definition of a local course, anyone who has recently moved to the area and is looking for a cheaper alternative can always rely on Leo J. The course has seen some improvement in the last few years, with a couple brand new greens added where once it was overgrown and unplayable. The back-9 offers more intrigue than the front with some nice bending holes requiring long second shots to reach the par-4 greens. Some of the greens and bunkers need some serious TLC and play can get backed up after regular work hours during the week, but it's really meant to be a course that all locals should know and frequent anyways when looking to get out and take some hacks.
