Never again
Something is wrong here. Course was packed for the 5+ hours we were there. That means lots of paying customers. The $$ is obviously not being put back into this course. There was no grass, only weeds, bunkers were hard as a rock, dead trees, limbs and mown grass everywhere. We will not be back.
A good last minute option
Asheville GC is an excellent choice for a last minute tee time because it's low cost and very affordable golf. This Donald Ross design has two very different nines; the front nine is very flat with large greens but tees are rough and fairways are spotty. The back nine is hilly and more narrow fairways, but greens are still large.Early spring means kids are in school so it's usually in better shape & less crowded..
Terrible condition, terrible experience
Never waste a dollar at a course where the don’t care about the course. Got into an argument with the maintenance crew who continue to ask us if we asked to play the back. Thie guy who “ran” the place evidently also mows the greens, you are failing at two jobs little man. All weeds and bare spots. Played the day before at a wonderful course about 10 miles away for only $10 bucks more.
Tale of two nines
Yikes, the front nine might just be the poorest condition I have ever seen in a golf course. The front is a Donald Ross design, and I’m sure it was awesome when it was maintained. Fairways were a mess, dirt and weed clumps mostly, you gotta hope that your ball comes to rest on a patch of grass that you can get a swing on. The greens had pools of water on half of them. #8 and #9 were glimpses of an awesome golf course and what potential this course has. I know I didn’t play it in prime season, but still. The back nine was great, not that it was better maintained or anything, but the layout provided a more engaging experience. The back nine is what you would expect from “mountain” golf. Nice vistas, some blind tee shots uphill and over knolls, and the greens were in much better condition heading back to the clubhouse. Overall it was a little disappointing but it’s better to be golfing than not golfing so I appreciate that they were able to get me on the tee sheet in the morning with less than a week’s notice, most other courses around were booked up.
Horrible staff and they overbook
Waited 30 minutes to tee off because there was 5 groups on the first tee box. Staff is awful, course isn’t worth $35. Very short course also
A sad end to my vacation!
So very disappointed in this course. Aside from having decent greens, the rest of the course was pretty bad. The worst fairways I’ve ever played. I couldn’t believe how many people were actually there golfing in those conditions. I assume they don’t have many choices. This course should be shut down and completely redone!!!
Muni needs Money for maintenance.
City of Asheville needs to provide some funds reseed worn out areas.
This course needs to plow and reseed lots of areas.
The same old places need fiill and reseeding ditch and drainage.
This has rates that allows senior citizens to play.
Staff friendly and go out of their way to serve you .
Beautiful walk.
It’s wintertime. The weather was sunny and all snow had melted from playing surfaces. The guys were out trimming low canopies off the Pines. Course conditions were fine. Course is setting up for a really quality spring. A few Blue tees were moved up which led to my further enjoyment. Pleasant Donald Ross layout.
Fun times at the AGC!
The course was in good condition for the time of year and pace of play was outstanding for me teeing off at 10 on a Saturday. The greens played surprisingly fast.
Asheville Municipal
Terrible terrible. Course was in awful condition. They should pay us to play this course. Never again
