Good for a cheap local course
It’s cheap and decent. Nothing fancy. The foods good At the bistro, staff has been friendly. Greens are pretty good for the course. The layout is meh. There’s no beverage cart that comes around. This time when I ate there was the most painful elevator music to listen to and the young lady who had some country music playing last time said she couldn’t change it anymore.
Clean it up
Ive been a member of the Pines for many years. Lived through different owners. It is a gem for this community. It needs to be cleaned up. Fairways mowed. Bulkheads repaired. We have a growing community in Elizabeth City. This golf course is a much needed asset. Please take care of the greens, get the fairways mowed, and the weeds removed. People will come from Chesapeake and Moyock and Ahoskie and Hertford to play here if it's in good shape.. It is deteriorating. Please take care of this gem.
Beautiful course
This is a great layout, Definitely senior friendly from the yellow tees. Nice number of dog legs, difficult approaches over water. Any golfer would love this place. Super helpful staff, nice facilities, pro shop, locker room, and a bar for after your round. This is a great value for the cost. Negatives, some of the bunkers have grass or weeds growing in them. $22 for a dozen used golf balls is a bit much, considering they weren’t all in mint condition.
Little Jewel in Elizabeth City
What a pleasant surprise, aside from the confusing chris cross layout and they didn't cut the greens in the morning, I enjoyed this fun tricky layout. From the blue tees plenty enough of a challenge, small well guarded greens, elevation changes, outstanding water holes lots of carry over water to virtually island greens and many obstacles. From the tips quite a challenge.
Can't wait to play it again.
Needs a lot of work.
Many Tee box's not mowed.
Fairways were in bad condition, as was most rough.
There was still debris on some greens from a storm a few days prior, Guess they don't own any blowers.
Several cups were not set at the proper level, and some cup holes had been ovulid out making the cup not sit straight.
It seems the flags are to big for the cups as several times the whole cup came out when trying to remove the flag for putting.
friendly pro-shop and wait staff
Our family enjoyed a day of golf. Very friendly staff…a great value. Definitely will come back!
Course was just OK. There were a few gimmicky holes, but more holes were just in poor shape. The overlapping fairways with no barriers (natural or otherwise) left several groups hitting into us.
Saturday afternoon
Have played this course several times, always a fun time. A few greens were a little dry but overall course was in really good shape. Will definitely return in the near future for another round
glad to see it is open again
greens are rock hard. fairways are decent. Staff is fantastic. It will take another year of work to bring the course back after being closed during covid. Stop in the Bistro for a cold one and a great sandwich.
Remarkable Improvement!
Last time I played this, it had just come back from bankruptcy and abandonment, and 7 months later it had nice greens, and decent fairways for the winter. Hole no. 4 still has failing bulkhead as well as no. 13 as I recall, but these did not prevent play. This course is tight and challenging and all holes are about 8-10 foot elevated so if you don't get it on the green it will roll back to give you a second chance, lol.
I would recommend the course to play....just bring your "A" game!
