Classic parkland course
Mount Elgin is a classic parkland style course. The yardage makes the course accessible all golfers. Low handicappers will rarely use their driver. The greens add a layer complexity to the course.
Great time
First time playing at Mount Elgin and had a great time. The course is in awesome shape and the pace of play was decent. Its difficulty is a bit much for my friend and I but I did shoot 92 and that's fine by me.
Thanks
This cource is well laid out
Cource was in marvelous condition greens very challenging. Pace was slow due to tournament could be better marked.
Great Course
I have played this course for many years. I drive 45 minutes when there are numerous courses much closer to home. It is well kept and I like the variety in the terrain.
Great course
I have played a number of courses in the area over many years. Mount Elgin is one of my favourite. I like the variety in the terrain. Not all flat. There are courses closer to home in London but I do the drive from London to play Mount Elgin.
Mount Elgin
Course in great shape. Holes in very difficult positions that weren’t fun. You have massive greens and the holes locations are right at the front or back. Pace that day was slow which of course will happen time to time but people in front had no idea what they were doing. Overall great course, silly pin positions. I’d go back if pins were better making it an easier round. And if people play better there they’re going to want to come back. Just a suggestion
Country Gem
At first glance I thought I’d eat this course up. Not too much feskew and some short par 4s. Not a single easy green. Lightening fast and egg shell shaped with near impossible pin placements (which is my only complaint).
Nice Mature Traditional Style Course
We played this mature, wooded course in less than three hours as it was not at all busy this afternoon. The course conditions were excellent and the greens quite fast with some tricky, subtle breaks. A number of greens are domed making them hard to hold, and sometimes frustrating. The fairways were well kept and the rough cut to reasonable length. The only suggestion for improvement would be better signage with directions to the next tee as it can be confusing in spots.
Great Outing
We arrived early and were able to tee off a few minutes before our scheduled tee time. We did not experience any delays during our round. After many rain days the past few weeks, we were pleasantly surprised that the course was not wet and played beautifully. The greens started out slowly, as we teed off at 9 am, but, as the round progressed the greens became quite fast. The fairways were in fine shape as well. The only 'wet' indicator were the sand traps that were damp. All in all we enjoyed our day and would recommend this course. The staff were upbeat, helpful and smiling.
Need to play course a few times to know where your going and where to land your ball.
Well maintained course
Always enjoy playing at Mount Elgin, well maintained, quite convenient. Most of the greens are quite challenging, conditions could be different from time to time. You don't lose too many balls here though.
Return to Mount Elgin
Played here last summer and enjoyed the layout but round was hampered by tournament on course and some slowness and rowdiness.
Nice peaceful day this year, we got paired with a nice gentleman from Hamilton, who had not played course before.
Layout is good, nice flow and nice mix of holes. There are 3 very tight driving holes and one has a tight second and third shot as well. Possible to play out of the trees in most cases, but hitting fairs is critical here to set up a good shot into the greens.
The greens here are very true, but also very fast away from the hole and all are sloped back to front and with heavy contours on most. Tap the ball and if you miss, expect a 3-4 footer coming back. Into slope or grain you need to putt firmly.
We had a big storm the night before and lots of leaves, debris and small branches down, but overall course was in good condition.
Good value on Golfnow and carts had GPS in them as well.
Will make this a yearly stop
