Booking Not good enough
We had a 10:06 tee off. When we arrived there was a queue of 4 groups on the Blue route.. I noticed a society sheet on the desk with 20 names. We went to check in only to be told they couldn’t find our booking. After asking another colleague he said he’d put it through for 10:18. Not very happy, but at least we are playing. I ask which tees are we off , to which he replies blue and then yellow. The queue for blue is still 4 groups deep and the yellows has two groups waiting, so we went to check out the reds.
There was a single player who was playing his second shot, so we went off them. When we got to the 3rd where the land opens up , we could see there was only one other group up to the 7th playing this course. We had a lovely nine holes in 90 minutes then onto the slow second 9 of the yellows 150 minutes.
The course was in a very good condition, other than fairway grass was a little too long , shame the organisation let it down.
Good condition with all the rain
Course was well set up and greens true
Only issue was it took us 4hours 30 mins nearly as a 3-ball as we waited on every tee for a v slow 4-ball in front of us who seemed determined never to let anyone through
Course might think about having a Marshall to manage things like that
Need to sort out the pace of play here
I used to enjoy playing at Farleigh - the three 9 hole course system was a great way of providing variety each time you played. The conditions of the course have always been pretty good and the amenities and practice facilities are also decent. However, the last few times I've played I have had to walk off half way round due to the pace of play being intolerably slow. I don't know whether they are over booking their tee times or what the cause is, but on Sunday it took over 3 hours to get round 9 holes. We were late teeing off to start with as the groups had already backed up on the first tee. On the third tee of the course, there were at one point five groups on the same hole (one on the green, one on the tee box and three queuing). This seems to be becoming a consistent problem here and so I won't be booking any more rounds until it's sorted out. Over six hours for a two ball to get round is unplayable.
Will be returning
Played a twilight tee time. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the greens and the quality of the fairways. There was no leftover grass cuttings and the tee boxes were well maintained. The practice facilities were quiet and in a great location. The only complaint would be that the fairways were dried out in some places however that is expected at this time of year. Overall it’s a stunning course and I will definitely be back.
Somewhere different
Great course friendly staff just a double booked tee time so felt rushed on the 1st! But good pace of play
Definitely recommend this one
Nice layout
Played on a very windy and cold day , you can be very exposed on this hilly layout as we was, but considering the recent rains over the last few weeks course was in good condition .Not too much rough to worry about with plenty of space in hitting areas greens very tricky and speedy and on a windy day could be treacherous .
Good facility
Enjoy playing here. Great range to warmup and the practice green (putting and chipping) good
Played blue and yellow - course are fun no the wind made it challenging although if not windy might be relatively easy as not long
Lots of side hill lies though makes it more challenging
As a 2-ball we had a 4 in front of us who seemed to find it a badge of honour to race of the tee and not call us through but eventually they did after 9 holes when we caught them on the tee and we did the back nine in under 90 mins
Amazing value for money
Great lay-out, good quality course, amazing value for money
Farleigh Golf Course
Three 9 hole courses that you can play. We played the red and yellow courses.
Great value for money
Played on Red and Blue course. Red was muddy and good course but nothing spectacular. However, thoroughly enjoyed the scenes at Blue course. Less muddy as well.
Would definitely try to come back.
3 sets of 9 all in good condition if on fairway.
Considering the wetness courses in good nick if you kept ball on fairway. Dm and muddy off the beaten track. Greens running average but true.
Nice course, good value
Nice round of golf. Played on my own and it was fairly quiet. Got around in 3 hours easily, although I switched to the red on the second nine, instead of yellow, as there were a couple of 4 balls ahead. Benefit of a 27 hole course!
Bit of work going on at the moment (e.g. Blue 3rd,, greens being undulated), which is not surprising giving the time of year.
Rough all cut down, which makes it easier to play..
Nice staff
Good condition for winter but too slow
Fairways and Tees very good.
Greens sanded.
Unfortunately very slow
Birthday
It helps a review when you play well on your birthday. We teed off at 10:40 (a two ball snuck on before us which was fine as we were 3 but a starter would have helped).
Conditions on arrival were bitterly cold (hard frost everywhere) and the first few green were a bit icy, but they thawed quickly in the sun and played amazingly well considering the time of year (Feb).
Food was great, helpful staff, and great value.
We only had the option to play off the seniors tee which was a drawback as it took some of the challenge out, but again consider it was a February round. I would rather play seniors tees than have a single temporary green.
