Cancun Country Club - El Tinto Golf Course
About
El Tinto Golf Club (formerly known as TPC Cancun) has an environmentally friendly layout that is a popular destination for the PGA Tour. It serves as host to several events throughout the year. When crafting the course, special care was taken to protect the native flora and fauna. As a result El Tinto blends seamlessly into the existing environment. The Nick Price design also utilizes the terrain's natural elevation changes and water features. It's a challenging but fair test with more than 80 strategically placed bunkers and five lakes that come into play throughout. You will encounter some tricky holes but the different sets of tees cater to players of every skill level. El Tinto G.C. is conveniently situated just minutes from all the major area hotels and it's less than a half hour from Playa Del Carmen.

Cancun Country Club
Overall, the course layout and condition is great. There were no GPS, so bring your own GPS gear.
Great layout
Loved this course. Layout was great, pace of play was fantastic (too slow at other courses in the area that over book). Course conditions were a 7 out of 10. Need more sand in the bunkers, little more watering, but overall really playable. Greens were great.
Will definitely recommend and play again.
Great course, good deal on GolfNow
We played with a hot deal on Golf Now in January. Course was in great shape. Range was unfortunately closed, other than that everything was great. Food was cheap but actually very good. All in all an excellent experience and I would recommend golfing here.
Don’t pinch pennies
The course itself is well maintained! Pristine fairways, bunkers were good. Greens weren’t anything special though. Staff was good!
That being said, I learned that if you’re golfing on vacation just bite the bullet and spend some money to get to a notable course. I couldn’t quite get myself to spend $200-$300 greens fee to play riviera, mayakoba, moon, etc. but I wish I had. I read those courses have all-you-can-eat/drink included with your round too so it’s going to be about the same anyway.
Do not use rental clubs from here! $50, and all of the options were beat up 15 year old clubs with sr flex shafts (12 clubs, two of which were the same) and came with used junk balls. For $50 I’d call that a complete scam. Use Cancun golf club rentals, they’re the same cost and will deliver to you.
Main Point: If you’re already paying $120-$150 greens fee here you might as well pay a bit more to experience a known course with views and some actual amenities. At the end of the day I got to golf on vacation which is a win, but it was a forgettable experience and my money would’ve been better spent elsewhere.
Nice place but needs updated
Has the potential to be much better... pace was great once a family of beginners left or took a break at the turn.
Excellent Round
We found an excellent Cyber Monday deal for 40% off. The day was overcast and a bit breezy which made conditions ideal.
The course was a bit wet after the previous nights rain but it didn't take away from the game in any way.
Looking forward to our next round at Cancun Country Club.
Play elsewhere
Very poor conditioning. Terrible staff. No amenities. Much better value at other Cancún courses.
Great wide open course
A very nice wide open course, with big greens and lots of sand.
Great course
Nice club, don't come here looking for all the extra amenities though. The service was good, fairways and bunkers are excellent. The greens are grainy and somewhat bumpy, but acceptable. That said, I would definitely play here again.
