Olde Point Golf & Country Club
About
Olde Point Golf & Country Club sprawls across a rolling landscape covered with mature trees, sparkling blue lakes, and meandering streams. Native vegetation is abundant across the gentle hills. It is a course that is both scenic and challenging. Built in 1975, it opened to the public a year later although members enjoy guaranteed tee times. The many water features all over the course come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the greens. The doglegs are no easy feat either. From the championship tees, the golf course is a formidable test that requires well placed shots but the three other tees provide a gentler game that is more approachable for beginners. In addition to the golf course, Olde Point also has a grass driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

Olde ( doesn’t get the ) Point
Really, really bad greens….Saturday at noon…had several groups of college kids tee off before us…we teed off 20 mins after our scheduled tee time…..looked like none of them had ever played before….played 3 1/2 holes in an hour and a half….drove off course…...asked for a 9 hole refund…she “ couldn’t “ because we paid on line…..greens are literally like putting in your back yard….i will never ever go there again…..
Greens need work
The fairways are decent and the pace of play was nice but the greens were in bad shape. They are super bumpy and after a while we just gave up on putting inside 5ft due to the conditions.
Driving range was no open as well which always makes the 1st few holes difficult.
Course Conditions
Staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating but condition of course very bad. Little to no grass in fairways or tee boxes and greens were very bumpy and almost unplayable. Owner says summer grass hasn’t come in and weather is to blame. However, I have played other courses in area experiencing same weather and none of the greens were as bad as at Olde Point. Was looking forward to playing there but very disappointed. It’s pretty obvious that course needs lots of attention.
Course conditiond
Staff very friendly, helpful and accommodating but course conditions were not good. There was very little grass in fairways which may be due to grass not coming in yet but what was worse were the greens. They were very bumpy, had bare spots and pretty much unplayable. Owner blames it on weather but other courses in area have experienced the same weather and none of the greens in the area are as bad as these. These were by far some of the worse greens I have ever played.
Greens were terrible ridiculously slow. Tee boxes very uneven and very wet fairways with no run whst so ever
Very wet
The front nine was close due to excessive rain and the back nine was very wet and had cart path only. The staff is extremely nice but couldn’t refund me because I prepaid. So I stuck it out.
Bad greens & tees
Feel bad for them…years ago this was a great course….
Facilities were amazing, course left a lot to be desired.
Pros: The restaurant and bar were very impressive. The food was reasonably priced, high quality, and was a great serving size for the price. Pro-shop staff was friendly and courteous. Helped to explain the course and what to expect. The locations of the driving range and cart pickup were conveniently located.
Cons: The course was in desperate need of attention. The tee boxes were overgrown to the point that sometimes it was hard to even see the markers. (Pictures attached). The greens were also in rough shape some had complete bald spots that were almost completely mud. Both issues in my opinion were not just do to rain or weather as it had been great weather but appeared more from neglect. Also, the drainage was not very good as there were some puddles on the fairway deep enough to lose a ball and had clearly been there for a while, and absolutely not intended water hazards. while some fairways had the grass-maintained others had grass high enough that it was easy to lose a ball in the fairway. To the point that I found 9 random balls that were in the grass just off the fairway (2-4 inches) just on the front nine.
Conclusion: For the price it was fair, I did not feel like I had overpaid. However, had I not gotten a discounted price, I would have been more disappointed. I would return for the food, but not for the course. I feel this is a fair review, and would not recommend it.

Getting there!
I have played this course many times over the last 30 years. It has changed from good to mediocre as well as mediocre to pretty darn good. I think it is currently moving on up! Most of the greens were in really good shape. Much slower than bent grass but clean and green. The tee boxes needed mowing and some tlc. The fairways were not bad on most holes. I enjoyed playing there and will return.
DO NOT PLAY WASTE OF MONEY
This golf course is not worth the $50. Will not be returning very sad to see it falling apart. Tee boxes are not mowed fairways in rough shape greens not cut playing very slow. The carts are old and messing up.
Slow greens
Fun round. Good course layout. Greens were long, bumpy and slow. Possibly due to recent storms and 90+ degree heat.
Greens were very slow and rough. Tee boxes needed lots of attention. The design and layout of the course could or maybe was, very good at one point.
Bad day at Olde Point
Very disappointed to play in such horrific conditions. No tees mowed, greens out of control heavy and bumpy, areas around traps completely let go. Have a feeling this place cares more about the pool and restaurant than the course. Such a shame as the layout is quite nice. Lots of potential!
