Good shape
Course was in good shape, but the greens were just aerated 2 days before we played which makes putting impossible.
Worst green aeration?
Gathered at Turtle Creek from Baltimore, nyc and nj for a friendly rounding. The online reviews were good and we booked about a week in advance.
Checkin was easy and we were able to use the range next door.
Course layout is simple. Some water. Bunkers were decent with good sand
Our biggest complaint is the unfilled giant aeration holes and not pressed greens. Needless to say, putting was just bad. The course website didnt mention anything about the aeration schedule. Golfnow def didnt. AND the guy who checked us in told us the course is in great condition! Like i said some of us drove 2+ hrs to play the course and it was a huge disappointment.
I play on public courses around NYC and have not seen any greens that looked like it. Even Clearview(which is supposed to have the most play in the US(?) is better)
Oh, the chip and putt by the parking lot had better greens.
I want to support privately/family owned businesses but this course is no more than a beginner course. No real challeges. Some water but most of them are not in play.
The only positive thing is the pace of play. But i guess the locals knew not to show up.
I would not go back even if the greens were filled in. Def not a destination quality.
Great turf
Played Turtle Creek on a weekday afternoon with nice weather so course was full, but times were spaced to keep play moving. ( just over 4 hours) Course was in very good shape for mid April. Always great turf there and bunkers were among the best around after last year's rebuilding . Only negative is no real clubhouse and very limited food ( hot dogs etc) but there is a large patio overlooking 18 which has seating and is covered by a large tent with beer and drinks available.
Nice course
Played with my brother on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Course was in great shape. The greens were fast, and the fairways were in great condition. We had a 30 minute frost delay, and cart-path only due to recent rain, but pace of play was good (we got out early). All in all, a great experience!
Highly recommend this course
Was a little skeptical to play this course after reading some of the negative reviews regarding an unprofessional ranger but our tee time was already scheduled. The course owner must be paying attention to these reviews and seems to have corrected the problem that caused the negativity. The course rules were explained to us during check-in at the pro shop and again by the starter and the staff were friendly and professional.
The course was in excellent condition from tee box to the big beautiful maintained greens and the bunkers had plenty of sand. It is a very nice layout with fair and challenging holes. If you had a bad experience with the ranger, I would recommend that you give this course another try. Our foursome thought it was a fun course to play that offered very reasonable senior rates. We will definitely be back again.
Course ranger: useless with a bad attitude
Great layout and course condition. Staff were friendly; however, the ranger had a nasty attitude and was more concerned with driving in the ruff (which we never were told about until he told us at the 15th fairway) than moving slow players along, resulting in a 5hr round..
We won't be back.
Great Course and layout
Great course and layout, but won't be back due to the starter.
Worth Playing
Definitely a course to consider if you are looking in the area. Great condition, very fair course. Enjoyable.
Beautiful course
Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. The course is well maintained and in a beautiful bucolic setting. Looking forward to playing 18 next time as we only were able to play 9 since it was dusk.
