Great Par 3

Probably the best par 3 course I've played. The condition of the course was near perfect, challenging pins and a great way to warm up to play some of the great full courses in the area.

I would play this course again and I would recommend to friends coming to the area.

Challenging for low handicap

Been wanting to play this course for a while now. It was more challenging from the tips than I thought it would be. We enjoyed the replica holes, although I didn't feel like it was like being on the actual courses it was enjoyable.

I would actually say some of their own designed holes were my favourite.

Make sure you get their breakfast sandwich, it is amazing. Staff, practice facility, food and clubhouse all very adequate.

Will return when I'm in the area.

Tournament fun

We played a charity scramble on this course. It was a great design and well kept. The staff, food, and club house were all adequate and I would come back and play when in the area.

Did I mention we won the tournament:)

Challenging for a shorty

We had a lot of fun playing this course. I cannnit remember the exact date aoninjust picked one.

We found that if you were not on the fairway you could be hacking away for a while trying to get your ball out of certain areas.

The greens were in great shape and the clubhouse was spectacular. Over great spot for people of all levels to get out and wack a few around together.

We will be back at some point.

Preferred But still...

I prefer over the Mountain course. I still thinking overall condition needs to be better if they want to charge the price they are for memberships and trying to build a name for themselves.

Played from the tip, its high season and weeds everywhere and not cut. Its always amazing to me how some course really want to charge the world but overlook the basics. ($40k initial membership fee!) again this is on Vancouver Island, not the mainland, not Whistler, Not the Okanagan.

Hopefully the saga of never ending building and money issues passes, I'd like to see this place complete and rolling with high octane. For now I won't be making the return for a few years while everything is still going on.

Nice, but...

Not going to go on a long rant but I'll do a sort one.

With my experience and worldwide play, I would simply say that this course is overpriced and not in condition it needs to be for price. They are hopeful for an International audience and need it. The senior PGA is coming and they have significantly increased membership in prep for this. ($40k initiation fee!!)

Driving range was 6 mats as everything is still ongoing with construction, with what seems to be a decade plus on this hill. Very painful.

Nice views, good layout, but locals aren't paying the money and with increased housing and sales, I still see it being a tough go. Happy I've played it again but not making a point to come back.

I prefer the Valley course as well;) Everyone talks about this one but save some money and try the Valley.

Great Conditions

Coral was very challenging from the tips. There is not a lot of room for error!

The greens were in very good shape, I was impressed. Course record is a 66 which happened in October durning a pro event I was told. At 7043 yards and 141 slope your going to put to the test.

Overall facilities were clean and well maintained. Not the highest end place but neither are their prices. Staff was very good, all speaking excellent english and genuine.

I would place this course everytime I'm in the area.

If we could give 4.5 stars I would give that based on the overall experience at this course.

Excellent Condition

So far my favourite course in the area. The course was in great shape, the greens perfect and the layout was challenging. Not much room for error on the tee. A few bind shots which after playing now, will be more comfortable next time playing.

The club house and driving range is not as high end as El Cameleon, the golf carts don't have GPS, and the quality of FB is not as good. The experience and course condition was definalty better. Mainly because their greens were perfect.

I will be heading back there. Wildlife all over the course adds the life in the area.

High praise for Iberostar which is the same for many other people from what I see on here.

Well....

Well the wait is over and I finally played the famed course. I'll start by saying the course layout, and facility is amazing. Very pleasing to the eye, sand was the best I've played in;) the practice areas are well spaced out and professional.

My problem with the course and I see many others have said the same, was the greens. It's near impossible to go low when they are this bad. Maybe it not prime season, but the just had the OHL here a couple weeks ago. So I don't know what the deal is. I won't go on about it.

Pro shop was lacking, was hoping for more selection and so I could pick a few things out to go home with. Was really bare.

Didn't eat at the restaurant but looked really good. I'm here for another week so might stop by again.

The course is challenging enough, add some wind and you have a greater respect for anyone the can be par and better on this course. It was very difficult.

Landscape was really nice. Reminded me of Waldorf Astoria and Pelican Hill.

Overall, I would play again but the rest of the trip I'll be trying other courses in the area.

Extraordinary Experience

I played Awbrey Glen as part of the Private Club Network. It was Nov 20th so my expectations were low because of the time of the year. It was a truly great surprise when I saw what I was in for.

The course was in extraordinary shape! From the driving range, right on through my round. I was amazing at how they keep this course in such good condition. As we all know its a lot easier when your in prime season. Too see how they keep this course in the off season was a true testament to their commitment to excellence.

The course offers many challenges, and some picturesque moments that we all love. Deer can be seen throughout the course. At just under 7000 yards from the Greens it's going to test the most avid golfers.

Staff was amazing, I even went as far as asking to meet the GM Mark, to say how impressed I was with his operation.

To recommend this course would be understating it. If I lived in the area I'd be getting a membership. Looking forward to heading back to the area and enjoying another memorable experience.

Thank you Mark and staff!

Money needed

The course layout can be challenging. There is lots of hazards, not a great amount of bunkers but the water makes up for that.

I'd like to have seen the course in better shape, but that takes money and I'm not sure how busy the course is.

They have a decent driving range and a couple putting greens to warm up at. Club house is nothing special, sparse pro shop.

Overall, I would play it again if there was an event being held there like I was apart of today. The course could be very special is it has some doe behind it because the area and scenery is beautiful.

Classy

Played the course just after the LPGA was here.

Starting with the pro shop, it was small but had a good selection of many brands and some nice high end gear.

The clubhouse and mens room I was very impressed with. They spent about $8 Million a few years back to redo it all. Restaurants have very good food and different areas depending on your mood.

The practice facilities were great. Driving range is nice and wide for many players to practice. Long enough to hit driving and everything in between.

The course layout is nice with the most challenge coming on the greens. Vancouver is having a water issue and hot summer so the course was not as green and a little too hard, but what are you gonna do?

Overall, this classy operation is doing a great job and I was very impressed. I'll be heading back again soon!

Bad review, for now!

Well, its well known that Vancouver has restrictions with water right now. So this was a real disappointment when I went to the private club.

The course might have been the worst condition in recent memory. Everything brown, fairways hard as rock, greens were patchy and hard. It was really bad.

The clubhouse was older and boring, typical old boys club kind of feeling. In my opinion something that needs to change in golf to get the new generation involved. There is a reason why golf participation and membership are always going down.

Anyway, I'll go back when conditions are better and see how it is. Overall, even if it was lush and green, I still think the layout was somewhat boring, no real views either. Many course in BC have fabulous views of either mountains, ocean, lakes, etc. which I really enjoy, and adds to the experience.

Surrey Boy

Grew up playing this course regularly. It's a decent course. I always found that pace of play was an issue here and that the golfers where not that aware of doing all the right things like, replacing their beaver tails and fixing divots on the greens.

Certain times the course was great and other times it was like the greens crew skipped a day. Inconsistent.

Anyway, had some memories there and it's an average place with a nice lush green, tidy feeling to it most of the time.

Unbelievable Value, seen nothing like it!

The private club has me sold and becoming a member!, and I live across the border!

I play a lot and always on the road playing. Of all the clubs and countries I'll played I've never seen something like this.

Access to private clubs around north america, reciprocial play at nearby courses and much more.

The course is in very good shape, interesting and I can see that I will not get bored of playing it. Bunkers are perfect, greens roll true and it's just an enjoyable experience.

Driving range and practice facility nestled between giant trees is unique and relaxing.

Pool, 2 restaurants, great selection at pro shop all here at this well rounded club.

I highly recommend not only trying to get on this course, but if you live near Bellingham or Lower mainland in British Columbia, get involved with this course, you will not regret it.

PGA Quality

Both courses are great! I really enjoy playing the ridge as it's is always in great shape, pace of play normally good and the overall facilities are suited to those wanted to get better.

They have good food and clubhouse with the proshp having a good selection. Professional atmosphere which I really enjoy.

Great place, good job Arnie!

Would have to agree with others

This course is not somewhere I will return too or tell people about.

There are too many other good options are and the time it take to maintain a course to an acceptable level just isn't here.

Greens weren't good, bunkers the same and cuts along fairway were not so professionally done.

Might be a good place to bring beginners to smack it around.

13th in Canada, Public Course by Score Golf

I don't hand out 5 stars to just any course. I did for Big Sky.

When comparing to the other course in the area, Whistler/Pemberton is known as a golf haven for North America, and of these spectacular courses I have to say overall Big Sky is the best.

It has a unique feeling to the course. It doesn't have the tourist feeling like the others do. Don't get me wrong, iIlove the other Whistler courses and Chateau is among my all time favourite. But there is something unique about Big Sky.

Clubhouse has the most welcoming feel. Clean and crisp. Pro shop has a great selection of everything, including a vast array of shoes.

Food is spectacular, practice faculties are good, not great.

Course itself is challenging with long par 4s, and holes that make sure you are dialled in on your number or you'll be in some long stuff, or dropping another ball.

The backdrop is BC! Mt.Currie is amazing. The course is on the valley floor so you see this backdrop the entire round. Big Sky is one of my favourite courses in Canada and has recently been ranked 13th best public courses in Canada by Score Golf Magazine. Well deserved.

Frustrating

Today started out sunny with all expectation of having a great round in perfect weather.

Quickly that turned to waiting around, literally all day. I really don't understand how this day in age we can still have these issues and not resolve them on the course. The course had nobody monitoring pace of play, I even called in because waiting for 15mins at each tee box is unacceptable. Still nothing was done. I play several times a week and there is nothing worse then not being in a rhythm. It really does not make it worth it to me to go out. I'd rather practice on range for 4 hours then hit and wait.

The course its self has a fun layout but the greens aren't kept as nicely as other courses in the lower mainland. Lots of divots which is the players fault for not fixing, who also could be contributing to the pace of play. Seems to go hand in hand when it comes to lack of courtesy and self awareness on the course.

It was very busy on the course and no cart girls for refreshments. Seems to me like an easy way to make money but something I assume they don't offer or care about.

With so many courses in the area to choose from I'll be staying away from Ledgeview for a while thats for sure.

They market it as a hidden gem, I would say that it's far from the truth. The club house is run down and old, the pro shop has a bunch of 40% off discounts and very bare. Nothing special here, and for $60 plus $32 cart it's value is not there.

Sorry to be down on this one, but it's not up to par when looking at the overall facility.
