About
I like to go for it more often than not ...I think that if you don't challenge yourself you don't grow and improve! Playing for your scorecard may take a couple of strokes of but where's the challenge !!! It's not all about the handicap! I can play a par 3 course in 4 or 5 over...going for the green over water at 180 yards from the fairway instead of laying up, thats me....

The Club at Pelican Bay - South Course

With a little TLC this could be a great course to play. As it is it has great challenge , just needs the tee boxes re seeded and fungus on the greens treated.
The Club at Pelican Bay - North Course

Course itself is in excellent condition considering the hurricane and rain we have had. The greens are in great shape. Front nine and back are very different. Front is long and straight, back is all doglegs. Front greens were considerably faster. The only problem was the length of the ruff everywhere was 3 to 5 inches. We lost a dozen balls just off the fairway because you couldn't see them. Literally found 2 because we stepped on them. Spent an extra hour on course because we had to search for every shot a foot off the fairway...also was difficult to hit out off...

Can't go wrong here. Staff is fantastic from manager on down. The facility is impressive, stone main building, sitting rooms dining facility and guest rooms ! Layout is definitely challenging with, side hills, water , and a par six with 2 water hazards! Great views in nearly every direction can be a distraction the first time you play here, and oh, the food is good too...

Beautiful fairways and impeccable greens. Degree of difficulty is relatively high, not for the golfer who regularly shoots 100 or higher. One hole has a tee shot over water that is around 170yards to clear . DON'T GO OFF THE GREENS AND FAIRWAYS, came one step from stepping on a large water moccasin out in the open twenty feet from the edge of a green . The Jones course is easier and safer.

No spot on earth can give you golf with mountain views like this course has! The greens are perfectly manicured with primary fringe short enough to putt from. With par 4 holes under 300yds. Lots of iron shots to the greens it plays from the whites like an Executive course. Expensive but worth playing once...!

It was raining when my 3 some arrived. The course was empty. The pro shop desk refused to give us a rain check. Informed us the course was cart path only, it was so wet you couldn't drive on the course if you tried anyway. If you have never played there , most of the course was once swamp. So you can imagine what it was like after a couple of days of steady rain. Anyway you couldn't make a shot from the fairway with anything but an iron because the water just grabbed a fairway wood. Iron shots weren't much better. By the third hole my pants were wet and muddy to the knees from walking the soaked course. We were the only ones out there as well.

Best maintained public course I have played in Daytona area. Very user friendly , no surprises , not a lot of water , none you have to hit over save a small creek in front of the 18th green. (All I got to play was the back 9 as they were aerating the front.

This was one of, if not THE premier course in Daytona Beach. The layout is challenging but not too much so...pars are doable but there are a lot of longish par 4's...wide fairways make for relaxed tee shots for the most part although there are a few holes with water in play.
Since the last time I played there about a month ago it has changed. It was close to pristine back in May. Now the fairways are cut on the long side and the greens have major weeds and bare spots ...not everywhere , predominately the back 9. Vastely different from all this past spring when I played here several times. Lets hope this is only a temporary situation.

Wow, at first impression, you think I just played 900 yards and crossed a street in a straight line away from the club house. .. very unusual. Then after a couple more beautifully designed holes I realized this is a massive layout designed with a golf community on a grand scale in mind. It was built with plenty if room for luxury homes as well as more moderate homes as well as incorporating probably another 27 holes in and around the present 18.No lack of bunkers at 180 to 200 yards to give you plenty to think about on each tee. The per 3 holes are all on the longish side and well bunkered also. Beautifully built no expense spared facility starting with the club house. ..

Busy but play was smooth, open area but some challenge to every hole.Course was wet but playable.
The Club at Pelican Bay - North Course
Played On 6/10/2013pristine and friendly
Part of a gated secure community, the two courses are quite different. The North course is definitely the premier course with a large clubhouse that is a beautiful facility with all the amenities. It is currently being redone on the exterior. Food was very good , about normally priced for a golf club. The course was well manicured , like most Florida courses this time of year had been aerated I'd guess about 3 weeks ago. Greens are in very good shape rolling at about 12. Straight tee shots are rewarded as most holes have water hazards on one or both sides. Most of the fairways are wide enough for driver without to much fear...par threes are all over 140 yards , so they are challenging. All in all a pleasant surprise, albeit a longish course , with most of the par 4's out of my reach in 2.
LPGA International - Jones Course
Played On 5/29/2013Pristine grounds, high level of difficulty
Ok, on the negative side I played front 9 with 2 young guys in front of me one a beginner, but they (and consequently me), were held up by an elderly couple . At the turn I stopped for a snack and the elderly couple were just teeing off on 10 (don't know what happened to the kids) then 3 guys behind me crowded me all around the back 9 even after I talked to them nicely explained the elderly people in front that they could actually see most holes. Made for an unpleasant round...never saw a Ranger all day! Beverage cart 3 times! No one else...It is a gorgeous, impeccable course. I could do without the mounds lining most fairways to simulate dunes to give an English links feel. Didn't work for me. .. The true links areas were exceptional and true to the area, ie Florida, why add fake dunes instead of palms ? But that being said it is visually kind to the eyes and differs from any other course I have played in Florida. The rough was very grabby even though it was not more than 3", probably 2 1/2". And the gps on my cart put the cart in "Lockup" saying it was in a restricted area . I pushed it back a few feet and it came back on. I checked the gps and was well outside the 30 yd. from greens rule. ??? Kind of freaked me out... (wasn't on a par 3 either).

As one might expect the layout is challenging but not beyond the intermediate player at all. Even from the blue tee's 14 handicapers can make pars. Personally, the white's are challenge enough! Fairways were green and manicured but greens were recently aerated and seeded so they were inconsistent and bumpy but certainly a temporary situation. As a Palmer designed course it is certainly a must play for N.Central Florida players !!
Hidden Lakes Golf Course
Played On 02/27/2013Not For The Long Driver, Bring Your Short Game...
This is an easy to find public course, in fact it is right beside New Symrna CC, both of which get more than their fare share of traffic. That being said, the course, although quite busy was in very good shape with green grass everywhere, which is not the case everywhere this time of the year... The greens however, were very slow, and like a lot of public courses in this area, no one seems to carry a divot tool,,,fresh ball marks littered nearly every green. Why ? I fixed at least four and most holes more than that, every hole.... Straight shooters will have no problem negotiating their way around this course, but if you spray balls around bring along plenty...Leave your ball retriever at home the water hazards have no shallow edges whatsoever, if it's wet it's gone....

First hole par 4 and a canal in front of the green ! One Island green as well ! Water hazards along side nearly every hole makes for interesting play....If you hate to loose a ball not your kind of course, but play within your game and you will be rewarded !!! Friendly staff , fairways were great, greens had a few bare spots on a couple,,,but overall in good shape and moderately fast.

Very well maintained Fairways but a few of the Greens were dusted with green powder on the edges to cover bare spots. Extremely friendly and helpful staff . If you are easily distracted by planes landing and taking off around you then this probably won't be your fav, but I found the variety of planes from a biplane to spiffy private jets as interesting as the diversity of the homes... Every golfer should play here once....just for the experience... Quite a few lateral water hazards as well as a few around the greens made for interesting play...driver off the tee not always your best choice...every hole was unique and had it's own challenge to offer...

Once the place to play in Daytona, today it shows some age but still a course with challenge and character... Greens are as good as any I have played recently and better than some. The fact that the course is for sale doesn't slap you in the face as I have experienced at other CC's. Easy to get to, not to crowded, conditions on a par with many courses in the Daytona area. Not a lot of water which keeps the ball count down, lol, really a nice place to relax and enjoy a round...

Friendly staff, pace was a bit slow at times but not a problem .Course is laid out so hitting fairways is rewarded, and missing means paying a price.Driver is not always your best choice ...Lots of water if you stray...par3's are all over 140 yards. Greens and fairway were all groomed .GPS on all carts. I will be back
