Cheval Golf and Athletic Club
Played On 06/14/2020Green immaculate but on slow side
The course was in great shape. Plenty of grass, more than one likes if not in fairway. The greens rolled very true but were unusually slow, probably due to heavy rain over previous few days. Always a fun course to play.
Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 06/04/2020Could be great BUT
Greens were punched and sanded so did not expect great putting. However, the course has about six fairways with decent grass, and very playable holes and 12 that need extensive work. The lies are not too tight, they simply do not exist, Hitting iron shots constantly off hard pan after errand shots is one thing BUT the middle of fairway is, well, inexcusable. Fairways need to be punched and play suspended for at least a week for Mother Nature to revive the course. I feel for the need for cash but mine will be absent a long time.
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
Played On 05/31/2020One Course that is a pleasure to review
As usual, speedy greens with breaks that are hard to read. Course Management is vital on almost all holes because being our of position is often a stroke. this course challenges from any tee.
Crescent Oaks Country Club
Played On 04/21/2020Nice course, variety of holes and angles, fast greens
This course is always very playable and enjoyable except , of course, in the Summer storms. Greens are fast and true. Two things noticed:, that even though everyone has their own cart,, golfers still behave like their foursome rides together making one wonder why they cannot bear the thought of going to their own ball and preparing to hit. Secondly, bring your own sanitizer, the cart guys try to get carts ready quickly but they cannot be responsible for everything.......you could also not get out of carts and stand shoulder to shoulder even if you are not smart enough to go your ball.
The Eagles Golf Club - Forest
Played On 04/16/2020Nice greens, grassy fairways
The Eagles always seems to do an excellent job of maintaining their golf courses and provide a great experience. It was windy and an occasional sprinkle but breezy and cool made it a great day to be outside considering the the lack of socializing we are doing to prevent the spread of disease. You know how enjoyable it is when you you wish you could play another 18.
Crescent Oaks Country Club
Played On 03/24/2020Wow Green Speeds
The course is punching some fairways but most are very playable. Greens are lightning and sanded correctly. Overall very enjoyable. However, the one drawback is no player control. Slow group should not determine the pace of all. When there are three groups on a hole, the problem is in the front and the course has to tell them.
Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 03/18/2020Slow bumpy greens, hard as rock
Grass, water, punching, TLC. The answer to making a golf course more playable and enjoyable.
The Eagles Golf Club - Lakes
Played On 03/16/2020Well Kept Facility
The Eagles does an excellent job of maintaining the two courses. One problem I have noticed is that many senior golfers play too far back to have only a "once a in round chance" of getting to par 4s in two. Starters need to emphasize that if you cannot get your drive near or beyond the 150 yard marker on the par fours then you need to move up. Watching countless golfers hit 3 shots to get inside the 100 yard marker is horrible golf for both the player and the observer watching from the tee.
Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Panther/Bobcat Course
Played On 03/12/2020Grass is at a Premium
The greens are immensely improved from previous years but every fairway is some grass and much hard pan, For the elderly who roll the ball onto grass wherever they lie, maybe it works for them. For people playing actual golf, not so much.
Heritage Harbor
Played On 02/17/2020The Greens have arrived
The fairways could use more grass but it was a big improvement on the greens. They looked good and rolled true......a little more speed would be nice. I commend the course for its improvement but they really need to shutdown after high season and punch the fairways with good watering and bring them back to a decade ago.
Lansbrook Golf Club
Played On 01/28/2020Nice course, pace of play induces sleep
If the course could ever stop overbooking or use marshals to explain to groups to play and not visit/fish for balls/stand around/know their yardages and hit...This could be an excellent experience. From November to April, bring a pillow, put your feet up and take a nap between shots....everyone else obviously is!
Westchase Golf Club
Played On 01/21/2020Fast Hard Greens
The course is a nice layout especially for a "community" style golf course. The fairways were nice with plenty of grass, the greens were fast but true. The only problem was the 20 MPH wind that gusted with surprises both on approach shots and putts.Somehow, with sixty yard approach shots, I almost always ended up with a thirty foot putt.
Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 01/09/2020Bumpy Greens, need grass in fairways
In spite of all the reviews, this course is sure of two things: lots of Winter play and no improvement in conditions. Too bad, the layout is a great test but not off fairway dirt lies.
Crescent Oaks Country Club
Played On 01/02/2020Speedy greens, grass on the fairways...whats not to like
As usual this is a fun course to play. The holes vary in look and difficulty for both the long hitter and the short ones. The greens are good with enough speed so you have to take care and be extra careful above the hole. The only criticism is the hole placements are sometimes unfair. Even a profession would struggle to make a putt when the hole is placed at the very edge of an undulation with no possibility of a miss stopping within four to six feet of the hole.
Lansbrook Golf Club
Played On 01/01/2020Fast Greens and extremely slow play
Always liked playing here but will abandon until after high season. Too many "think they are pros" players and just plain really slow people. Marshall/starter should not allow players who can hit only 150-180 yards off the tee to play back tees. They hold everyone and make the experience a nightmare. A 75 year old should not be hitting the ball 50-100 yards past the players 40 years younger from the same tees.
Crescent Oaks Country Club
Played On 12/05/2019No Ranger Means Stand Around All Day
Course had many typical groups of average to below average players with no idea about the game, decorum. or how to drive a cart. Carts inside ropes and markings, parking on edge of greens, front, back, wherever. NO attempt by the management to control the situation and speed up play even after being informed several times. Mediocre players playing from the back tees taking five to six shots to get to par 4s. The pace of play was agonizing! Fairways were decent and greens were speedy but wanted to leave after 5 or 6 holes.
Westchase Golf Club
Played On 11/21/2019Nice Fairways, Speedy Greens
Compared to many courses in the area, Westchase has cut their greens close to give them the speed one expects on a higher rated course. Rough is a bit grabby which is normal for Bermuda grasses after a wet Summer but the fairways give excellent lies. Drives in the fairway lead to excellent scoring opportunities but stay below the hole or a missed putt may be a eight foot try for par.
The Eagles Golf Club - Forest
Played On 11/12/2019Nice course but a few problems
The Forest course is a nice layout with variety to make it interesting to play. Two things were negatives. 1. the greens were a bit bumpy so many were quite slow without a true roll. 2. Overwatering on tee boxes and some other areas made course feel far wetter than it should have been. You should not be slipping and sliding on tee boxes in dry weather
Thank you for visiting us at The Eagles Golf Club - Forest. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We will make note of the tee boxes and wetter areas of the course and work to implement some changes! Thanks so much for the feedback! We hope you join us for another round soon.
Plantation Palms Golf Club
Played On 11/10/2019Desparate TLC to greens
The greens are very slow and suffering from invasive grass. They need to be cut shorter, preferably rolled, so the speed allows normal putting. The fairways are mainly in good shape and, with a few exceptions, the tee boxes are fine. This has always been a fun layout for a "community" course. However, unless some substantial maintenance is done before the Winter onslaught of golfers, this place will be a mess by February. Just heavy watering will not be enough here. Its obvious to anyone playing, amateurs don't fix ball marks, rarely fill divots.....light play allows mother nature to correct some problems, heavy play will turn decent courses to sand pits.
Come back soon, better every day.
Silverthorn Country Club
Played On 10/24/2019Nice layout, fun to play
Appears to be still recovering from out very day Aug/Sept weather. Fairways are decent. Greens are moderately fast due to short grass. Need to get grown in more to smooth out after cutting, Also, an extreme need is to teach morons to fix their ball marks on the greens and fill divots in the fairways.
Wow, what a lovely review. We're so glad you enjoyed your time here, and we cannot wait to see you back here!
