Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course is one of three 18-hole courses offered at the Wigwam Resort, which was named one of Golf Magazine's "Silver Medal Resorts." Golf Digest cited the Gold Course as one of the best public courses in the state. Mature trees are present on all of the courses, as well as winding creeks that create water hazards, which come into play on several holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers present on the course. The rolling landscape of the course causes elevation changes that can affect shots. The Wigwam Resort facility also has a putting green and chipping area.

Ready for the tour
A Canadian Tour event was upcoming for the Gold course so conditions were very good but tough. Rough was starting to get longer and greens were firm and fast. That probably helped slow play down a little bit as it took more time to play some difficult shots.
Beautiful and tough
Course was in outstanding condition preparing for the Canadian Tour qualifier and was correspondingly tough. Greens were firm and fast. Rough was up a bit and tees, fairways and greens were in great condition.
Great Golf Outing
We really enjoyed playing the Gold Course. Can't wait to play the other 2 courses as well. Thank you
Better this time.
Last time i played, Wigwam the gold in August the greens were not playable. this time the greens were very good.
Greens
Mounded greens were much too firm. Good approach shots wouldn’t hold and stimp was too high for recreational course.
What a great challenging course, marshall let us out 1 tee time ahead, we finished in 4 horur 10 minutes, course in super condition, green ran fast and true. A lot of traps but good sand and well maintained.
Too slow for my taste
The course was in great shape, but play was extremely slow and there were now rangers out on the course to get things moving along. It took close to 5 hours gif our twosome and we were finishing the last hole in the dark.
Absolutely more concerned about making money than servicing the customer.
Had a 2:30 tee time on Saturday. With the sun setting around 6:30 one would think we could finish 18. Left the course just before 5:00 and after 21/2 hours finished six holes and things were slowing down. The group behind us were replaying and could care less if they finished. The Groupon front were pathetically slow and even reputting after the should have finished. No Marshall anywhere to Pick up the pace. No rain check just a pathetic apology regarding policy.
Nice and Challenging layout
First time playing the Gold course. We played from the Club tees during mid to low 50 degree and windy conditions a day after they had 1/4 inch of rain the night before. Fairways and course conditions were in excellent conditions. Generous fairways to hit but the greens were very difficult to putt. Pin placements were extremely tight to the edge or located on a slope on nearly every hole. Most everyone in our foursome was three putting. It was hard to get your approach shots to hold and get close to the pin. Gold course is a very nice track but very challenging. We would like to return to play again. The slope rating from the Club tees for the day we played was very much understated. The course played much more difficult than the rating. Eat some humble pie and play up a set of tees from the yardage you normally play and you'll enjoy your round more. All the greens are elevated and well bunkered. So the yardage on most holes is easily 15 yards longer per hole. Add any wind we had (10-12 mph) and it will plays even longer and much more difficult. For some reason they let a fivesome out in front of us so we had to wait longer than what we wanted to on each hole.
nice course
although i have golfed the red and the blue courses, this was our first time on the gold course. we were paired up with a really nice couple in town for the super bowl. the tee boxes, fairways and greens were in decent to excellent shape. the greens ran moderate-fast, but true. the sand traps were adequately filled with well groomed sand. although not your traditional Az golf(desert/mountain) it is the next best thing. wigwam, with it's 3 challenging courses in their own way, is well run. the facilities are unique, set within this small community(litchfield park) within goodyear. it is easy to get into and out with ample parking, bag drop and the ability to take your cart to the lot when done is very convenient. the restaurant(reds) is well run and the food is good. overall, we try to get to wigwam more than a few times per year on either course and are rarely disappointed.
