Definitely Coming Back
Great course with many exciting and challenging holes. I would rank it up there with some of the best public courses in the metroplex. It obviously isn't Cowboys but you're not going to find a better value for the price.
Good course dormant fairways
The course has a challenging layouts with well placed hazards. The fairways were dormant but it has been funky weather so that's to be expected. The greens were super soft and lightning fast. There were some weird dead spots on the greens some being much worse than others. Overall fun course. Oh don't believe the speed on their putting greed it's probably 25% faster on the course.
Tough Course
Texas Star has good greens again. They have had problems recently, but have figured that out and made corrective measures.
Semi challenging
First time I had okayed this course and some hidden water and sand that would change my club selection if I would had known. Approach shots and placement of tee shots will make the difference in your scorecard. This is not a course where you just bonb it off the tee box because of dog legs and trees lining the course. Super friendly staff and marshalls are constantly checking up on you and their grill is top notch. With the golf now discount I will be back.
Great course close to home
Course was in good shape, challenging and staff was very friendly. Me and a buddy we're playing as a two some and got pair up with another two some. We played 18 in just under 4 hours. Overall this was a great course and I can't wait to see it in the spring when everything is green.
Slow and over rated
better options out there. poor service, very very slow pace of play and the marshals don't care
I'll be back.
My brother and I will definitely be back to play I live in Houston he lives in Waco. We both agreed iris the best course we have played in Texas and beyond, we compliment the staff at this course for everything it was excellent.
Really Pleasant Views from the Tees
No matter which Tee Box you choose (and there are 5 choices to accommodate beginners through pros), the course views are great. It just makes you feel like you are going to have a good day. Cart trails are easy to navigate, and the other players and staff so friendly that you know you want to come back, maybe just to hang out at the clubhouse. We saw quite a few birds and squirrels who seemed to be having a good time too. In my opinion you can play this course many different ways and not get tired of it. The tree lined fairways are lush, and the greens well kept and interesting, with plenty of bunkers and water to help you hone your game. There is a complimentary practice area to warm up before you tee off, and sandwiches and drinks are available out on the course as well as a nice looking grill at the clubhouse. I am really glad to have tried this course, and think that it compares very well with others that are considered "upscale". I'm already planning my next visit.
Greens were in really bad shape
Fairway and layout of the golf course is great. Everything was really good about the golf course except almost all the greens had multiple infected areas.
Great place!
Great golf course, and very challenging.
Great to see Bentgrass greens in Tx.
I would definitely return to play.
Not the best shape I've seen TStar in...
I took a buddy out who had never played it. Normally this is one of the best kept secrets in DFW (point for Euless TX). Mid morning tee time on a thursday - had to hit off mats on the range and the greens were very beat up out on the course. Not sure if that is due to tons of play or what. As stated above this place is normally my main squeeze, but this time I was a bit disappointed.
Very nice course
Played this course for the first time. Excellent in most ways but some of the tee boxes were either bare or pretty hairy. My wife played with me & some of the ladies tees were not in good shape. Fairways & greens were excellent & we loved the overall layout. Very peaceful. Course was a bit crowded for a wednesday. We would do it again if we got the same deal on the green fees. I need to up my game to play a nice course like this one!
First time here
Played on course recently aerated (sp?) BUT only paid $32 so the savings made up for the healing greens. VERY s-l-o-w pace of play. The "player assistants" did nothing to speed up the syrup 3some in front of us. I talked to one PA & he said they target 4.5 hrs per group...ridiculous. They need to strengthen their PA presence & get the pace to 4 hrs or better.
The course was in very good condition. No GPS but the course was well marked w/ yardages. I'd be hard pressed to comeback or recommend at regular price of $85 + 4.5hr to 5hr pace of play. And no I am not a 5 handicap that blazes the course. I am an 18 handicap & normally play 3:30 to 4 hours per round in a 3 or 4 group. Tee it forward & play ready!
A great layout with a mix of different types of holes
I always enjoy playing Texas Star. The course has a great mixture of holes. Short, long, dog legs, raised greens, up hills and down hills, some water but not too much. Unfortunately the greens were just punched so we were not able enjoy the usually great greens
the course was under maintainance.
It was one of the worst experiences I have had with golf now. I doubt I will book any more tee times with this app. I booked the tee time the day before. We show up to the course and are told that only the front nine was open due to maintainence on the back nine. They inform us we will have to play the front twice. Well the front zhould not have been open because they had airated the greens the day before so all of the greens were covered with sand and unplayable. This is the 2nd time now I have paid for rounds of golf on this app and then showed up to the course to find it is under maintainence. This has happened on 2 different courses. This is just flat out unacceptable, I drove 42 miles 1 way to play this course and this is what I get? Just horrible.
like the course
The course was being aerated and the back nine was closed and the front side had just been punched. The greens were really rough. Fairways in good shape.
Love the layout and design of the course. Just wish we had known about the back nine closure and the aeration. Would not have played yesterday.
We'll maintained course but the greens need to be fixed.
I really like this course but I don't know what happened to the greens. There is too many divot marks on them.
Great conditions, challenging but playable design
Love Texas Star, lush conditions, the only thing holding off a perfect score is that the bent grass greens are a bit pockety this time of year.
Fantastic design, you have no idea you are in North Texas with the tree-lined fairways and rolling fairways.
Great Course! Challenging.
I have played this course before and it is a great course! The greens are soft and fairways nice. The greens were pretty bumpy in places but that is because the "golfers" that are coming out these days won't repair their ball marks and ruin the greens for others. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it. I hear the greens are being replaced next year with ones that this won't be such a problem. That means they'll be harder I guess.
Great Course
The course was in excellent shape with the exception of the greens. They all looked beat up with people not fixing their divots. They did say that next summer they will redo all the greens and I think that will make the course even better. Probably one of the best public courses in the metroplex.
